He used two independent data sets, weather balloon and satellite for his findings. Believe it or not, there is a whole world outside of the borders of the USA. I live in part of it. 2009 is now officially the 5th warmest year on record. The 14 warmest years since records began in 1850 have all been since 1990. the 2000s are the warmest decade over the same persiod.

A three year down trend for 2004 to 2007 (net loss about 1,2M km2 means something massive in the history of the planet) but a 2 year upward trend for 2007 2009 (net gain of 1,2M km2, (same as the loss but in less time)) is not-significant.
Cherry picking is where you take a small amount of data from 2007 and use a 10 year old 30 year average that fits yourr argument, use it like it means something alarming.

No. We would not necessarily expect that. The trend is measured over a longer period. The downward trend has been observed over 30 years.
The graph shows fluctuation with each of the lines for the years 2005-2010 dipping to the minimum as some point. The range is generally within 5% of the mean, which I would imagine is within/near the statistical error.

If something with consequenses as dire as those of global warming were very likely, as they are; I think it would be safe to conclude that global warming is a huge crisis. The scientific method involves Testing predictions by experiments or further observations and modify the hypothesis in the light of your results. Then one MUST repeat that testing until there are no discrepancies between theory and the experiment.

Global climate change, is the preferred term simply because it's more accurate. The climate models forecast, and we are experiencing, not only an increase in the global mean temperature, but an increase in variation around that mean as well.

There is no catastrophic problem with the climate, warming and cooling in the poles are normal and have little to do with GHG let alone AGW CO2... The Sun's activity in sync with the Earth's tectonic and geothermal activity are responsible for climate and GHG releases. Polar bears do not need humans to save them, they have been through this before and are doing just fine now. BTW, important climate changes have also been reported on neighboring planets with no interference from humans...
Climate change on other planets has been easily been debunked based on milankovitch cycles which happen to be changes in orbital shapes from circular to elliptical.
Other proposed theory's is solar forcing from sun spots + solar flares. Which do vary.. but happens to be a set standard range (where each cycle is 11 years) as observed from NASA's space program to prevent satellite's from damage from solar flares to save maintenance costs.

Believe it or not, there is a whole world outside of the borders of the USA. I live in part of it. 2009 is now officially the 5th warmest year on record. The 14 warmest years since records began in 1850 have all been since 1990. the 2000s are the warmest decade over the same persiod.

No. We would not necessarily expect that. The trend is measured over a longer period. The downward trend has been observed over 30 years.
The graph shows fluctuation with each of the lines for the years 2005-2010 dipping to the minimum as some point. The range is generally within 5% of the mean, which I would imagine is within/near the statistical error.

Truth is that since then, the ice has recovered at a faster rate of change, ie. the downtrend changed in 2007 to an uptrend, with the upward angle of the new trend being steeper thn the downtrend.

I base my conclusions on the fact that the majority of the world's meteorologists have come to the conclusion that climate change is probable. Recent studies show that it is becoming more and more likely. I did not mean to cause offense, I am merely stating the truth; obvioulsy many Americans and Britons know the facts, but there are quite a few who ignore it through no proof.

I think you would agree that is a much less conclusive phrase than the phrase you used in your orginal post, "global warming is a massive crisis." Let science be open and honest. Let the results speak for themselves after transparent scientific debate. But we most certainly do not need research that is "cooked" for the benefit of political allies, or anymore of the Al Gore, "the sky is falling" rhetoric.

If something with consequenses as dire as those of global warming were very likely, as they are; I think it would be safe to conclude that global warming is a huge crisis. Hence why politicians are working hard to prevent this, however it is true that many politicians fro the USA are somewhat reluctant to accept these views.

That photo is of the USS Skate not the Nautilus and it is not clear that it was taken at the North Pole (Wikipedia says unknown location). But even if it was the submarine surfaced in a polynya which was located using sonar. Arctic ice shifts and cracks with the current creating stretches of open water (polynya) amid the ice floes. Global climate change, is the preferred term simply because it's more accurate. The climate models forecast, and we are experiencing, not only an increase in the global mean temperature, but an increase in variation around that mean as well.
Global warming suggests a steady increase in temperatures, but we're entering a period of greater climatic instability, with stronger storms, longer droughts, local cold spells, etc.

Mr. Gore, if you are serious about confronting the 'global crisis', start by leading by example, and not jetting all across the globe in a privately chartered boeing. Secondly, you are merely 'addressing' the symptom, not the cause. The real problem is over-population, and mother nature's way to thin it out is via HIV/AIDS, famine etc. Why do you want to send billions of (not yours, but taxpayer's) dollars to sabotage mother nature in her desperate attempt to address the real problem?

Human exhalation of CO2 is completely different from fossil fuels due to the fact we as humans do not exhale at 800-1400F
10,000 square miles of concentrating solar power (preferably solar concentrating troughs) based in the desert we could power the entire US for a year. With doing so would be able to cut electricity costs in half while possibly making USA the leader in this technology to sell to other nations.
China has just tinkering with this tech while we have been doing so since 80's.

I am not gonna flame you about this, but as an engineer, i feel compelled to inform u.
10,000 square miles is a staggering amount of space. The cost of such an operation would be astronomical. Maintaining such a facility would also be an enormous job. Pipes break, reflectors get dirty, things break.
If such a facility did exist, the existing power distribution infrastructure could not deliver the power to the places it is needed.
We use coal and nuclear for the simple reason that its efficient

First off this country is bankrupt. over 11 Trillion in Debt. the deficit for this year is currently 1 Trillion with 4 more months to go ending in 1.3 Trillion deficit (just this year). Then next years deficit etc. etc. Unfunded liability for medicare and social security estimated by the GOA at OVER 40 Trillion dollars. And then of course there is the fact that man made global warming is a HOAX ! ... a lie

There is no catastrophic problem with the climate, warming and cooling in the poles are normal and have little to do with GHG let alone AGW CO2... The Sun's activity in sync with the Earth's tectonic and geothermal activity are responsible for climate and GHG releases. Polar bears do not need humans to save them, they have been through this before and are doing just fine now. BTW, important climate changes have also been reported on neighboring planets with no interference from humans...

Climate change on other planets has been easily been debunked based on milankovitch cycles which happen to be changes in orbital shapes from circular to elliptical.
Other proposed theory's is solar forcing from sun spots + solar flares. Which do vary.. but happens to be a set standard range (where each cycle is 11 years) as observed from NASA's space program to prevent satellite's from damage from solar flares to save maintenance costs.

LOL debunked? The Milankovitch theory of climate change is not perfectly worked out, it is hardly a complete explanation for the reported changes on Venus, Mars, Jupiter and warming on Neptune. It is ridiculous to assume this without further investigation. I am also surprised that you do not follow the same logic for Earth's climate instead of assuming AGW is responsible. Clearly, if you assume AGW CO2 is the culprit for Earth climate your milankovitch argument is selective and deceitful...

The truth is "Solar Barycentric Tidal Theory". As initiated by Paul Jose in 1965 and advanced by others we are presently entering a 'Little Ice Age' or Solar 'Grand Minimum' after a minor warming period all caused by the SUN ... It's the Sun STUPID! ... and the planets toss the surface of the SUN around like the moon does our oceans. I can only note that a number of keen observers have observed and theorized this relationship but it has a causal mechanism ... unlike that trace gas theory ...

This is brilliant! Al Gore is so full of delusions. Global warming is just another. Contrast this with his claim that he invented the intenet--they're both nuts!Global warming DOES NOT exist. Check your history, people. Respected scientists say that the earth is actually cooling and has been for awhile. There was some warning when El Nino appeared, but the cool weather has offset any warming and then some.

I would be more inclined to believe that a Orwellian future would be more of a concern from those that do not believe that there is an environmental concern. The same ilk that would let big buisness run rampant and make laws that take away our rights. The same that pull liberties like teeth from the hungry as they are not eating anyway. What people are saying in here is absurd...denying global climate change is like denying evolution or the theory of gravity...how do you explain the loss of glaciers, rising sea levels, the fact that 7 of the last 10 years are the hottest they've been in literally millions of years, or increasing rates of hurricanes? And that's just the beginning. So what if Gore has gotten famous raising awareness for something that threatens to reek havoc on the earth for years to come? You guys are pathetic.

--If we caused it why haven't temps gone up in 10yrs? From rock strata & ice samples, the temps during our time on Earth are NOT THE NORM FOR THE PLANET. Temps change, that's NATURE. If they're going to change WE CAN'T "FIGHT" IT.

It has been 72 degrees here for the last 35 years, it rains every night from 11:35-12:08, and the wind blows at a constant and comfortable 3 mph.
Any deviation from the norm MUST be caused by humans. To claim that nature is anything but perfect proves you're nothing but a right-wing anti-science wacko.

How can you know that you KNOW more about the topic than biccat does? You've got to understand that most of us believe that global warming is a threat as we've been told so by many sources.
Therefore, I think you should tell us from where you got these amazing factual evidences that brings the whole world's opinion on the global warming obsolete. If you don't do that, I'll presume that you're just another stubborn, ignorant, lazy fool that's too scared to do something about the climate change.
