No one has ever said it wasn't happening, just that the world has heated and cooled since time began. CO2 build up is a result of the warming, not the cause.

Most conservatives don't believe that the climate can't change, just that mankind's activities can't have anything to do with it. The world has warmed and cooled since time began. Computer models are fed data that is essentially conjecture: Garbage in/garbage out. In any case no one can say for certain if it is "hotter than it's ever been". Equipment to track such things has only existed for less than a century.
Well, if I can speak for my fellow liberals, we choose to "believe" in anthropogenic climate change because we have a healthy respect for the science done on the issue. We are going to "believe" the side with basically all of the published evidence.

That is just not true. In the 1970's, the same Chicken Littles were predicting an ice age. 1934 is still the hottest year on record and warming has backed off since 1998. No one has ever said it wasn't happening, just that the world has heated and cooled since time began. CO2 build up is a result of the warming, not the cause.

Actually,I had heard the cooling idea also, but a paper published by the American Meteorological Society checked that out. It turns out that even then global warming was the more supported theory.
From 1965 to 1979 there were 7 peer-reviewed scientific papers supporting cooling predictions, 19 supporting neutral trends, and 42 predicting warming.

Most conservatives don't believe that the climate can't change, just that mankind's activities can't have anything to do with it. The world has warmed and cooled since time began. Computer models are fed data that is essentially conjecture: Garbage in/garbage out. In any case no one can say for certain if it is "hotter than it's ever been". Equipment to track such things has only existed for less than a century.

Show me where there is conclusive evidence that CO2 emissions cause global warming, not conjecture, conclusive evidence. There isn't any. That's why all of the talking heads ramble on about "conjecture". The dirty little secret is that every time the temperature rose, CO2 in the atmosphere rose with it. CO2 is a result, not a cause.

Bush has done a lot of non-conservative things, like the greatest entitlement plan ever. We haven't had a true conservative since Reagan, and he had to make some very non-conservative compromises with a liberl-controlled Congress to get what he wanted. The fact is too many otherwise intelligent people have fallen for this "conjecture" nonsense, have believed Algore's fake footage and made up statistics, and not questioned the validity of the findings.

Actually, he made several points and that was a response to one. Bush is not only considered conservative, but neo-conservative.
Secondly, I never claimed to be infallible and in fact, but that doesn't matter because the peer-reviewed studies giving the evidence were published already and not by me. So I guess the methods were sound enough to add to the general body of scientific knowledge.

also, there is not a climate model near powerful enough to actually make any realistic predictions. it's not possible the variables are too many and too complex. so any predictions are just a bunch of guess work. that is why they can't accuratly predict the weather in a local region more than a day in advance. when they can accuratly and consistantly predict the local weather a month in advance, then and only then will i START to believe they know what they are talking about with Global warming
