I don't think you understand how taxes work. We all pool our money to pay for things we all need. Those who don't work shouldn't be paying taxes. Those who have jobs pay for services for those who can't pay for them themselves. Nobody said anything about not paying taxes at all. Of course, we need to pay taxes to cover government services but it is the amount of government taxes that I object to. It is the ever-growing expansion of government, and therefore more taxation, that I object to. IF you admire this type of government than you do not believe in the idea behind a Republic ... which means a very limited and small central government. Therefore a government more of your liking would be Venezuela.
Taxes will not be lower soon enough, as we all will find out when the Bush tax cuts expire in 2011. It is inevitable, due to our extreme debt (currently 12 trillion and climbing) that taxes for everyone, especially the middle class, will rise. Of course, you do know that businesses/corporations do not pay taxes, so in order to adjust to a decline in revenue from a tapped out consumer, they will increase the price of their goods. Hence, inflation is on the horizon.
Also, when inflation begins it will be in earnest. Interest rates will not be raised a quarter of a percent, or so, at a time. Look for huge increases ... 5 or 6% in one fell swoop. We're talking interest rates on steroids but it probably won't happen until after 2010 ... of course, because of the election. Just as in the late 70s and early to mid 80s we will see double digit interest rates ... as high as 14%, perhaps even higher.
So you admit, in the end it will be the wealthy and the corporations shafting the common person, and you're alright with that?
Besides, I don't see the Democratic party raising taxes on the middle class mostly because it would be poltiical suicide. The Republicans can scream class warfare all they want, but the fact is that the current upper class is practically untaxed as is, and have a far larger share of wealth per person. I see their taxes going up if the dems have any sense.
Because the people of Venezuela are currently losing their liberties as their leader, Hugo Chavez, takes government control of not only the media but privately-run businesses such as the oil companies. This is an example, albeit an extreme one, of an increasingly powerful federal government and control of people's lives.
Wake up and see what is happening to our country. This is not politics as usual. There is (has been) a concerted effort to bring about a change that has nothing to do with our sovereignty or the fact that we are a Republic. Our liberties began being taken away, in earnest, by Bush. It continues, in earnest, by Obama. Different guy, same game. Obama supports the Patiot Act. Obama will escalate our involvement in Afghanistan. Why? Because he is being told to do so.

I think democracy is probably the most fair form of government in existence today, but that is because it has changed over time. You're talking about getting back to principles (230 years old mind you) which said that a black person counted as 3/5 of a human, that women were property, and that a man hand to OWN LAND to vote. Now, if we were able to create an organic movement to change the representatives in office, and they put in new people on the Court, and the Court ruled with you then it would mean you were right. But only relative to the standing courts and its standing decisions. As to the 2nd Amendment, it clearly states that we may bear arms through part of a well-regulated militia.

Nobody said anything about not paying taxes at all. Of course, we need to pay taxes to cover government services but it is the amount of government taxes that I object to. It is the ever-growing expansion of government, and therefore more taxation, that I object to. IF you admire this type of government than you do not believe in the idea behind a Republic ... which means a very limited and small central government. Taxes will not be lower soon enough, as we all will find out when the Bush tax cuts expire in 2011. It is inevitable, due to our extreme debt (currently 12 trillion and climbing) that taxes for everyone, especially the middle class, will rise. Of course, you do know that businesses/corporations do not pay taxes, so in order to adjust to a decline in revenue from a tapped out consumer, they will increase the price of their goods. Hence, inflation is on the horizon.

Also, when inflation begins it will be in earnest. Interest rates will not be raised a quarter of a percent, or so, at a time. Look for huge increases ... 5 or 6% in one fell swoop. We're talking interest rates on steroids but it probably won't happen until after 2010 ... of course, because of the election. Just as in the late 70s and early to mid 80s we will see double digit interest rates ... as high as 14%, perhaps even higher.
