I am of the opinion that the "Tom Baird" in question is the late, great keyboard genius who mostly tenured at MOTWON from 1968-1974. working with such stellar acts as DIANA ROSS, RARE EARTH, GLADYS KNIGHTY & The PIPS, XIT, The ORIGINALS, RIOT, STEVIE WONDER, & STONEY & MEATLOAF..As well as being 1/3 of the MOTOWN pop trio named MATRIX (1972 LP, 1974 single)
I have a Playlist of songs written by Joe South, and I just realized that the entry for "Pollyanna" by the Classics is the one you uploaded. And it's even the thumbnail that I picked to head the playlist, even though it's not the first song in it (which is "Hush" by Deep Purple).

The group that I most associate with the name the Classics is the one that did "Pollyanna". Later they became better known as the Classics IV.

The only group to have a major chart hit as The Classics was Emil Stucchio's group, who had a hit with Til Then....
