  • meh, 6 Collectors out there...

  • Its totally awesome that now after reading the book, I get to play the game. Its so similar to the book, except Anderson is the main character of the book, and he is a Spectre in the book (whereas he isnt in the game). Other than that, a lot of things are as I imagined. Epic win.

  • It took FOREVER to download, but it was DEFINATELY worth it!

  • 6 People are the Geth\Reapers

  • @RussianKrios No, they're collectors!! ;)

  • People need to stop comparing ME1 and ME2. ME1 was introducing the world and the story, ME2 was building it up and setting the story to prepare for ME3. It wasn't pointless.

  • They reside in Dark Space for 50,000 years and allow civilization to thrive, they then return to assimilate the strongest most advanced race into their genetic code, doing this over and over again they become more intelligent and powerful, fine with that, pretty original and most of all logical (which is a nice touch to something sci-fi after all) but Humans are not the strongest or most advanced, other races kicked their arse and reached the citadel first. The reapers targetting humans is odd.

  • @RandyRedCactus Well, that´s what you kinda expect from space trolls right?

  • @TheOldMan100 We must really not feed them so much.

  • @RandyRedCactus Could be because humans killed the Sovereign.

  • @RandyRedCactus Actually it's not at all odd. Just look at what Harbinger has to say about the different species in the game: “Quarian; considered due to cybernetic augmentation, weakened immune system too debilitating.”

    “Drell; useless, insufficient numbers.”

“Human; viable possibility, aggression factor useful if controlled.”

“Asari; reliance upon alien species for reproduction shows genetic weakness.”

“Salarian; insufficient lifespan, fragile genetic structure.”

    (cont.)

  • @RandyRedCactus (cont.)

“Human; viable possibility, impressive genetic malleability.”

    “Geth; an annoyance, limited utility.”

“Human; viable possibility, impressive technical potential.”

“Human; viable possibility, if emotional drives are subjugated.”

“Human; viable possibility, great biotic potential.”

    “Krogan; sterilised race, potential wasted.”

    “Turian; you are considered...too primitive.”

  • @ginnoveffect yeah, yeah, we will rule the Universe, heard it before...

  • @RandyRedCactus But beyond that, humans showed that they had an indomitable will. They were the only ones to charge in head-on against Sovereign, the only ones to actually kill a Reaper. And time and time again in the game, other species comment on these human traits. It's not just genes that the Reapers look for, but other, less tangible qualities. Like drinking the blood or eating the heart of your enemies to gain their strength. It points a value system that you don't expect from a machine.

  • @RandyRedCactus Also, by destroying and subjugating the strongest of all the races in the galaxy (yes i'd say they are the strongest, they gained a lot of power, prestige and respect by saving the Citadel, and the Council if you did that in your game), they demoralize everyone else and sort of hold up humanity as a trophy.

  • @ginnoveffect I had completely missed that Collector content, trust Bioware to be so retrospective, they must really love telling this story. I guess making a Human Reaper would incite more reaction for a player as opposed to one of the alien races, screw the Turians and all that.

  • I really love this universe, I think with ME2, the story went a bit awry though, the giant human reaper at the end was fine as a finale, that didn't tarnish the experience, one cliché moment does not ruin hours of original engrossing gameplay, what I didn't like though was that it was a Human Reaper, I mean the Reapers are all powerful yet use their psychological abilities to force enemies into submission, like Saren, so why not make an Asari Reaper? They are all naturally psychologically linked

  • It's the NPC interaction that's the most breathtaking. And the futureness of it all...

  • I want that picture as a poster

  • They should have listened, the reapers are coming, 5 are already here.

  • I remember playing ME for the first time. I borrowed it from a friend I was like "meh, it looks alright". Halfway through I'm in love with the game and can't stop playing.

Can't wait for ME3, it's going to be awesome!!

  • ME1 - Build a team and fight off an invincible foe attempting to kill all life in the galaxy

ME2 - Build a team and earn their loyalty to go complete some mission not really relevant to the problem at hand

ME3 - Build a team and fight off an army of invincible foes currently killing all life in the galaxy

  • @89Sunbird In mass effect 2 you stop the collectors from making a giant organic reaper that would have made the reapers even MORE unstoppable.....your completely wrong about ME2...

  • An incredible experience :-)

  • Hated this game to the point of insanity. LOVED Mass effect 2.

  • @AwesomeNnja54

Loved Mass Effect to the point of insanity. HATED Mass Effect 2

    We are complete opposites lol...

  • i bought this game so i could have the complete story thinking it was only going to be ok compared to ME2... that game turned out to be one of the best games i have played.

  • One of the best games I've ever played, and I've played lots of 'em...

  • 5 people need calibrations

  • Une magnifique expérience...

  • 5 people was killed by Commander Shepard...

  • Hopefully the good aspects from ME1 and ME2 will combine with ME3's new mechanics and story to create a masterpiece ... hopefully

  • @lolJoely Not really, the game is going to be all action no story (despite what they tell you), same thing happened with Dragon Age, Bioware is going down the drain.

  • im going to cry if bioware keeps true to their word of mass effect 3 being the final mass effect installment

  • @HLGSTEEL I thought they merely said that it was the final Shepard installment? I sure as hell don't hope they're throwing away the franchise after this. O.o

  • @damunzta oh maybe... ill look into it, i thought that i heard it was the final ME installment; then again i could be wrong however i did hear some speculations on a possible MMO...

  • @HLGSTEEL They said they might do origin like stories after Mass Effect. Like years before the actual events of Shepard.

  • The first one for better story, the second one for better action and the third one for.. well, lets just see how it shapes up.

  • I am playing this for the first time and I don't want it to end!

  • @sm0five Well, lucky for you there's a second part with a bunch of addons und the third part right around the corner. Also comics and books. That should get you covered for a while. ;-)

  • @BloodDemon293846

    I might be! :D

  • fuck I can't believe I sold my Pc to for a PS3, ME2 was one of the few games my pc could actually run

  • i always though mass effect 2 was better than the first one, then i replayed it, finished mass effect 1 again yesterday, GOD DAMNIT , mass effect 2 sucks compared to it!

  • @dfghj241 wait a bit, then try it in 3D :)

  • who here remembers being on Ilos and learning the truth about the reapers from the prothean AI? I loved IIos.

  • Mass effect...... sigh...... what an experience

  • @0oOMNIo0 indeed...my friend...

  • @0oOMNIo0 hells yeah. hopefully they'll finish the story with an epic ending in ME3

  • @startingsprinter i read the entire spoiler, pretty much there trying to "appeal to larger audiences" and not punish you for not playing the earlier 2 games so the game is going to have all weird modes, online multiplayer (wtf why?) and most importantly none of your choices from the first 2 games will effect the game other than character deaths from ME2, sounds like a great game eh? fucking bioware

  • Didn't bother with this game until recently, now I can't get enough...

  • In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient spacefaring civilization. In the decades that followed, these mysterious artifacts revealed startling new technologies, enabling travel to the furthest stars. The basis for this incredible technology was a force that controlled the very fabric of space and time. They called it the greatest discovery in human history. The civilizations of the galaxy call it...

  • @petros0001 MASS EFFECT.

  • @petros0001 wow wheres that 2148 story from?

  • @MultiLeroy22 it's in the game. It's the official backstory. I think the actual text that he quoted is either somewhere on the case or in the introduction to the game.

  • @moopeta wow i need to play this game, i hope it lives up to that back story

  • @MultiLeroy22 Trust me, you have no idea how intense and immersive this game is, until you fall into it yourself. The writing is the best I've ever seen in a game and is what makes the game so appealing to me.

  • I love it...

  • Fare thee well Jack Wall! I hope Clint Mansell can fill those huge shoes you are leaving behind! ME1 and 2 both have some of the most epic music in game/movie history.

  • After playing Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2, hearing all the soundtracks, and getting pissed off at yet another George Lucas re-re-re-re-re-re-re release of the Star Wars films (with more changes) I conclude Mass Effect > Star Wars

  • @fatshine179 The VHS's are still there, so why do you care about the changes?

  • @ComrnanderShepard I care because I, like many others, fell in love with the original movies. That is what we want. More ORIGINAL content. Not the same rehashed crap over and over. I connect more with Mass Effect anyway so it doesn't really matter. I love Mass Effect way more than my love for Star Wars.

  • @fatshine179 yes me too I dont know how the hell this happened :|

  • 5 ppl needs to clean their ears.

  • I used to like Star Wars, but I'm not a fan of George Lucas' shitty directing.

So, naturally, I prefer Mass Effect.

  • Funny how can video games make better soundtracks and better comprehension of science than most movies and some books.

  • 5 people are deaf Geth drones

  • Mass effect>star wars

  • Mass Effect is good, sry but Kotor is still better in my opinion

and FUCK OFF "the old republic" in want kotor3 and not this online shit

  • @PhonierDeluxe Shit? You're obviously angry or you just hate on stuff you know nothing about. SWTOR is KOTOR 3 more or less. We get to find out what happened to Revan and I think also the Exile. Also, I preordered the Collector's Edition off of Amazon for $189.30, that's how much I love Star Wars. Once again, trust me...this will be a good game.

  • @PhonierDeluxe Wahhhhh.

  • @megamessiah

yeah Gameplay of Kotor is better but story of mass effect is better :P

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck off kid below me, Star Wars is great too.

  • 5 people are fans of the fat star wars retard

  • 5 people are Conrad Verner

  • 5 people are not commander shepards favorite people on the citadel.

  • 5 People are the Geth.

  • @BobbZzz01 XD

  • @BobbZzz01 But not all Geth are evil, the bad ones are simply heretics. Therefore they are heretic Geth.

  • @BobbZzz01 wrong. The Geth, A.K.A Legion is one of the best addition in a game ive ever experienced in any games sequel (Legion in Mass Effect 2 makes you completly forget about the Geth threat in ME1). So those 5 ppl are Collectors :)

  • Even Geth get the chills listening to this shit bro!

  • 5 ppl are reapers

  • man ,listen to that soundtrack !!!

mass effect is 1 of my top 10 games ever !!

wait , it is even more a top 5 games of all times

  • I am going to go get laid by a Quarian, when I come back I better be a Spectre.

    Oh wait...

  • @Sparks424 Same here, Bioware are brilliant! (also a Star wars fan)

  • There was a certain freshness to the first game that the second lacked. It's ending pitted you against "impossible odds" within the context of the story.

For me the situation felt MUCH more dire in ME1 when embarking to Ilos than it did in ME2 when you crossed over the Omega IV Relay. Being pitted against the unknown just felt much more threatening than being told how urgent and dire your situation is at every turn.

ME3 has alot to live up to for me, I hope it fills the void that ME2 didn't.

  • @ContortedWhisk Trilogy, in the end Mass Effect 1/2/3 are one huge game. ME2 story will tie closely to ME3, try taking ME2 from the equation and jump from ME1 to ME3 when it comes out, makes no sense. Besides, I really liked that you learn that those visions weren't a warning, rather, the process in which Protheans turn into Collectors.

As for danger and direness, etc. you don't get to lose half your crew during the last mission in ME1. Anyway, I liked ME2 more, 1st one had awkward controls :(

  • This Song reminds me a littel bit of Space Center Babylon 5.

  • Amazing game, can't wait for the third episode.

  • @VillaTragedia now to me that button is in the worst possible spot, the second button literally makes or breaks the shirt.

  • @TheMartialartsJedi I have both of them .

  • What I LOVE about this game is it gives us yet another look at what the universe could look like All of the technology, weapons, vehicles and architecture look amazing, and are described in great detail, which coupled with good game mechanics and physics gives this game a very believable sense of "sci-fi realism."

e.g mass accelerator weapon tech Small slivers of metal shaved off a larger block of metal and propelled down a magnetic accelerator This kind of technology IS possible and I love it!

  • George Lucas...You jelly?

  • This is one of the greatest games ever made ,period. Masterchief can suck my balls.

  • wth people halo is a fps, mass effect = rpg action...LOL

like comparing an apple to orange -.-

  • I don't know who typed the Halo comment but it has absolutely nothing on Mass Effect

  • made in canada

  • ♪♫

  • my favorite part starts at 1:10

  • I hope in ME3 theres and opening at the end for a ME4, yes i know its meant to be a trilogy but i think we will all be sad to see it go...

  • @XTrailerzHD Bioware has been hinting at more than 3 games:)

  • @XTrailerzHD

It's a huge universe.. there ar emany thing sto do.. preludes such as The first Contact War or the aftermath of the reapers as it was confirmed that the entire galaxy is under attack and it ain't going away with just one game. Plus you got companions who could be main characters one day. They may even make an MMO in a few years.

  • but yes, seriously people: quit comparing Mass Effect to Halo and Gears. I am a huge fan of all 3 games; they are all exceptionally well-made games. Gears for the fast-paced, intense gunfights and gore, Halo for the team-work based deathmatches and vastly customizable multiplayer, and Mass Effect for the epic, movie-like storyline that sucks you into it, forcing you to play the game for hours on end.

  • Why people even comparing Halo to Mass Effect? Can't we just agree they both rape the shit outta Gears?

  • @CDurand87 ME > Gears > Halo

  • There are 5 battarians on youtube.

  • @TheBentastic I hate batarians.

  • 2 thumbs up for one of the greatest game developers of all time: Bioware! Creators of one of the greatest RPG stories of all time!

Nothing compares to this game... Halo, which many believe is the best sci-fi game ever, pales in comparison to this incredible, detailed, and rich story. Personally I've grown bored of Halo, the story is nowhere near the level of Mass Effects

  • @SnIkLeeT stfu with your fucking thumbs up, we dont need any comments to prove that this game is NR1 rpg game, i think everybody figured that out the first minute of play.

  • @Jaeger2011 Dude.... two thumbs up im not asking people for thumbs up. If people agree with me they can choose to do that if they want. You dont have to be a fucking dick

  • Only game that can rival this games music is the Assassins Creed series!

  • @DumbledoreDancing mass effect 3 has not be released yet so its logical you haven't played it

  • is'nt this track called lazarus project on the OST ?

  • however they are 2 diffrent kinds of games H is FPS and ME is 3prs

  • Mass Effect Best Sci Fi Series Ever , yes i said it ... and im a huge Star wars fan .

  • @Sparks424 And does Star Wars has to do with it? Star Wars is Fantasy, not Sci-Fi ;)

  • @ComrnanderShepard it technically is BOTH....

  • @Lordgale119 Not really. The original trilogy is much more like Fantasy, the only sci-fi elements are the ships and stuff, but that's not the focus of the movies.

The new trilogy tries to explain everything in a shitty way and focus more in sci-fi.

So it depends. Sure I'll take ME over New SW trilogy anyday. But ME has nothing to do with the old trilogy.

  • @ComrnanderShepard No, it's science fiction with touches of fantasy. The original trilogy, the prequels, the expanded universe, it's all sci-fi fantasy. It doesn't have to be the FOCUS, but the fact that there are sci-fi elements make it sci-fi. And You are correct. Star Wars and ME have nothing to do with each other. The only similarity is the sheer size of the 'verse it takes place in.

  • @Sparks424

Best sci fi game series perhaps but not best sci fi :D

  • @Sparks424 It sure is. It's AMAZING.

  • @Sparks424 i tottaly agree, i hope the make a massive movie franchise off this:)

  • @101Rivo there is a movie in production

  • @Sparks424 Star Wars it's fantasy

  • @Sparks424 *Game

Or you never watched Battlestar Galactica (the new series) ;-)

  • @Crunor i have watch Battlestar Galactica was not to big on it . Just My opinion i know it has a good following i just like the Mass Effect Universe its awesome the Races are what makes it so awesome Krogan , Asari , Turian , quarian , Salarian , and so on all awesome .

  • @Sparks424 I concur.

  • This game has better music to it than most films.

  • @yugster78 Game music is vastly underappreciated. Take Modern Warfare 2 for example. You might question how good the game itself is, but there's no denying that Zimmer's soundtrack is masterful!

  • @yugster78 It's great, yeah, but listen to Halo's soundtrack! Martin O Donnel is the king of game music!!

  • They should have a new warning label on every Mass Effect game reading: CAUTION: After you play this game every other game will suck. Also, as soon as you finish this game you will want to repeat it again and again and again. Play at your own risk.

  • Best. RPG. Ever.

  • I had finished this game more than 8 times and i still want again and again...

  • 1:00

    Goosebumps

  • "Hi, I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite song on the Citadel" :3

  • Mass Effect the one game I played twice and loved both times

  • They call it the greatest discovery in human history. The races of the galaxy call it.............

    MASS EFFECT

  • @qcumbers23 Chills for no apparent reason :U

  • The only two games in the world you need to play are Mass Effect 1 and 2. Everything else just sucks compared to them. Play only if you want every other gaming experience ruined.

  • @Ayrebird and Mass Effect 3 :D

  • @Ayrebird Well now come on, there are other brilliant games out there in other genres, but I'd definitely say that the Mass Effect games are the best sci-fi games out there and are destined to be remembered as masterpieces of this generation. Doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy other great games too though...

  • @jomo999 You are right. It's just that I tend to compare every sci-fi game to Mass Effect and it's hard to be a contender. I was like this when I finished Halo 3. I thought, "No other game is going to make me feel so powerful, so heroic." Then came Mass Effect and it's still hard to shake the feelings of contentment and satisfaction I got when finishing these games.

  • @Ayrebird

so true :( every other game catches my attention for 5 minutes..then i stop playing because i'm bored!

  • @Ayrebird woah woah, i know most games aren't quit as epic but theres still some that make u think wow!. for me its Battlefield BC2. Forza 3, and Assassins creed II

  • @Ayrebird Although I don't want to deny that Mass Effect 1 & 2 are awesome games, you should play Planescape: Torment. Mass Effect is really good, but that one will blow you're mind away, even though I hope you still belong to a generation that has some patience. It's about a lot of reading and don't expect good graphics, it's 12 years old. It will be worth it, though. Trust me.

  • @Ayrebird It's story own a lot of high budget hollywood movies. What can haters say 'bout that?

  • I am downloading this game now off of steam while listening to the song in the background... never thought i would enjoy downloading something... :D

  • Mass Effect is the single BEST game I have ever played. If it were a movie it would be the best movie as well.

  • This theme tune is better than the one on ME2

  • Halo is a story of a war to save humanity that gets worse and worse and worse until the Earth is occupied and in order to save it, mankind must utilise brainwashed, ethically unsound supersoldiers and a shitload of luck combined with a Light Flung into the Future by the Forerunners. Mass Effect is about representing Humanity and assembling a crew to save the galaxy (not to mention the hot aliens). The two are utterly brilliant franchises in their own ways.

  • This game is a masterpiece, didnt like the second one as much though.

  • @ProblemOfficer3000

At first i didnt like ME2 either, but then i chilled out, got immersed and fkin loved it.

Think of it more like a giant movie.

  • @Zacq768 Im downloading it off of steam right now :D

  • @TheAlbinoApple

    I picked ME1 and 2 off Steam for 15 dollars :D

  • Halo = shoot the enemy a billion times, reload, repeat, then pretend a retarded worm, prophet thing could accually be a threat....

Mass Effect = build a team, strategically eliminate enemy threats, save the universe...

  • @srethen 3 times with no limit in speech combos

  • Got this at Christmas in '08. Was fifty quid but reduced to £20 brand new. Bargain. Best decision I ever made :)

  • i so love Mass Effect, but Halo is rubbish in comparison.

  • My favorite part of this song is 00:00-2:22.

  • @larrym5150 UNORIGINAL

  • Halo and Mass Effect are incomparable.

  • Halo is fun.

Mass Effect is a whole different experience.

  • The favorite music on the Citadel.

  • I think Daft Punk should give Wall Hulick some credit, the music in Tron Legacy reminded me a lot of Mass Effect.

  • steam is offering both games for just 15 euros!

  • Objects with mass can never reach the speed of light, only get close to it. Time also slows down relatively to the other world for the object in this case.

BUT, if you turn the mass of the object to "0" you can travel at every speed you want without losing time! GENIUS!

  • Comment removed

  • Can't wait for ME3. I am serious, I will waste an entire two weeks of my life playing nonstop through the entire storyline.

Just joking, I have a life. It's a heavy risk... but the prize!

  • @OverchargedTeslaCoil If you think that playing the best game ever made is a waste, then you're lost or you have been indoctrinated

  • @golglu But... I was saying... I didn't mean, er, I meant that... ack

  • @OverchargedTeslaCoil It's okay we're nerds too lol

  • @Gamezpussy Really? Nice of you to admit that. I thought I was alone in this world, all my mates being CoD and Halo Reach fanboys and all that, er, entertaining stuff ;)

  • The Mass Effect series rapes the Halo series ANYDAY. If someone says Halo is better than Mass Effect i will cockslap them with my erect penis immediately after being inside their mum. So they get their mummys pussy juice slapped on their face.

  • @tel0j The first ans second Halo games were decent until the 3rd and so on. Maybe if Bungie and Bioware shared each others concepts of universal interaction and their creativity of science-fiction art and lore, then it would be even better than both of them alone.

  • This might seem like a stupid question, but does anyone know whether there's sheet music of this soundtrack available?
