@MountcastleFilms If any hacking organization was able to hack YT, they could very well make large amounts of money from basic user information (let alone other more valuable information), and would be all over the news, so it's pretty safe to say it hasn't been done.
@MountcastleFilms no hacker can get to my IP via youtube unless they hacked youtube's servers, in which case they'd have access to everyone's IP. They'd also have access to a whole bunch of other stuff which is even more important, such as user password hash tables, or even credit card information (although those may have additional security layers)
@MountcastleFilms It's not a cloaked secret, it's just unobtainable via YT's server. Other servers may share IPs, but large company website servers tend to avoid that because of privacy reasons.
If I wanted to have a well-hidden IP and privacy for other uses, I'd use a tor network. For using YT however, they provide total privacy with regard to IP and related info.

As an analogy: Youtube is a man in a room with 2 doors. On the other side of door 1 is user A and the other side of door 2 is user B. The identity of A/B are their IPs. Only one door will be open at a time, and neither user A nor user B can enter the room. The man in the center is the only form of communication between the two and it is impossible for one to figure out who the other is without that man saying.
@MountcastleFilms Any activity does not provide an IP or a location. Youtube is a server, which acts as a middle-man. That middle man does not give any information away aside from the information that the user allows to give away. The only way that is not the case are the exceptions I already gave (or cases like wire-tap or wireless network, but in those situations there's much more to worry about than IP and location because one would automatically know those)

The only way one can get youtube user IPs if by having access to the YT server (or the user's PC), which is special authorization/privileges only given to administrators, mods, and the like. If you have some other source that says otherwise, would certainly be a very unreliable source. They'd also have access to a whole bunch of other stuff which is even more important, such as user password hash tables, or even credit card information (although those may have additional security layers)

@MountcastleFilms It's not a cloaked secret, it's just unobtainable via YT's server. Other servers may share IPs, but large company website servers tend to avoid that because of privacy reasons.
If I wanted to have a well-hidden IP and privacy for other uses, I'd use a tor network. For using YT however, they provide total privacy with regard to IP and related info.
It's not stupidity, it's reality. Just because you heard from some Joe Blow that the internet is totally unsafe doesn't make it so.

As an analogy: Youtube is a man in a room with 2 doors. On the other side of door 1 is user A and the other side of door 2 is user B. The identity of A/B are their IPs. Only one door will be open at a time, and neither user A nor user B can enter the room. The man in the center is the only form of communication between the two and it is impossible for one to figure out who the other is without that man saying.

That middle man does not give any information away aside from the information that the user allows to give away. The only way that is not the case are the exceptions I already gave (or cases like wire-tap or wireless network, but in those situations there's much more to worry about than IP and location because one would automatically know those)

@TheFoadolfat There is no trick. It is not possible. They are just a troll/liar or extremely deluded script kiddie likely with a virus. The only way one can get youtube user IPs if by having access to the YT server (or the user's PC), which is special authorization/privileges only given to administrators, mods, and the like. This person's thick head is not getting around that, which is ridiculous.
Aside from that, one can indirectly get an IP from youtube if you are authorized, such as the FBI.

@MountcastleFilms If you honestly believe that stuff (which I doubt) and aren't some kind of troll, I will then have assume you're using some cheesy program that is supposed to find youtube user IPs. However, such a program does not exist (impossible), so it's claims are completely false, along with the information it's spewing out. Not only that, but it would probably have a virus attached to it as well, so now someone ELSE would indeed know your IP, and potentially have control of your PC.

@MountcastleFilms What is "doing this properly" supposed to mean? I am a unique user who has never used any YT account than this one. "past IP addresses you've logged in from" is not only illogical, but you could not know it. Not only that, but if someone does re-log into a different account, chances are their IP would be the same, or similar because IPs do not typically cycle often.
Lastly, I don't know why you are ordering me. You seem to think I will follow your commands— what a failure.

Uploads mean nothing, anyone can copy a video from online or YT. I don't see how you could say I am arguing the same things. I've never argued with anyone about obtaining IPs from youtube users.

@MountcastleFilms If anything, you're definitely the troll. One cannot find the IP of any youtube user (with the exclusion of being a specific malware(virus)-infected user to whom the IP seeker has control over, in which case they have a lot more control/information than just IP)

When you post a comment it is served from a server, not my IP. If you are pinging anything, it is the server in question, not my IP.
