If you've ever seen how Hunter Thompson was like IRL, you'll realize just how awesome Johnny Depp's performance was in this movie.

Most of the user comments didn't seem to get it at all tough (for one thing, it takes place in 1971, not the 60's) but I can understand that not everyone can enjoy it.

I really look forward to seeing Depp play the lead in another Thompson adaptation this fall in The Rum Diary.

No drugs in that one, so it might be a bit more accessible to a wider audience.

If this movie is like the book that it's based on, it's about chasing your desires and doing what you want, and that IS the plot.
