It's so good to hear this with the sound effects as used by Stewpot on Children's Favourites. I have this on a CD but only has tings on a triangle in salient spots! Thanks very much for reestoring my favourite version.
I've always enjoyed listening to this and must have heard it for the first time back in the early 60's. I can empathise with it's sentiments holeheartedly ! The best bit for me is at he end "... but you don't know what he'd dreaming about do ya?" - wonderful :-) I laugh every time I hear it. Thank you Terry Scott.
heard this on the one and only danny baker's bbc london show a few weeks back. one of the only presenters with the balls to play something as leftfield as this at 3pm
a class song by a great comedy actor terry scott i wish kizzy the tv programme from 1976 was as easy to find as this and every other thing on you tube
Takes me straight back to Ed Stewart's saturday and sunday morning radio show in the 70s. Alan Price The Jarrow Song and Popcorn also come to mind. Oh yes, and the theme to Black Beauty.
Haven't heard this for years. Have got a copy somewheres- Don't Light The Fire After Santa's Gone always made me laugh- I'd like a great big tin of toffees for Christmas!
@christinebroadley Hey , it's the 21st century. Even old codgers like me use mp3 players these days. it's easy enough to copy it off this video and convert it (or shouldn't we be saying that? tut, tut - piracy - awful crime!)
Not heard this before- thanks for the share. I liked Terry in the Carry On films and Terry and June. Some critics run that show down but its better than anything thats on the BBC now...
I had a different version of this record when I was a kid. No idea who it was, but it was a bit better than this - the guy sung and spoke the lines with a bit more conviction! 'av ya? Pwoooah!
Does anyone else remember Terry doing the 'Curly Wurly' adverts, in the 70's...hee hee... He was also on a couple of Carry-On films too... and of course Terry & June.. and June Whitfield plays Edwina's mother on ''Ad Fab''... Brilliant actor with a real cheeky grin... LOL :0)x
I also have this on the All Aboard album on vinyl without the sound effects I remembered from Junior Choice, I'd just about given up on finding the true version, thanks so much for uploading
my dad used to have a mixtape with random old comedy songs and this was on it!! haha the thing with my mum is the same, orders me to get to bed when im active then when im sooo knackered she makes me get up! lol
Was the tape called "all aboard" by any chance? Its the tape Ive had for a long time that I originaly got from a Jumble sale when I must have been about 6 or 7. It did'nt have any of the sound effects that are on this version for some reason. I spent some of my childhood making little stories up from these tapes by recording little bits of those songs along with childrens stories with two tape decks. I did'nt have a Sega Mega drive.
im 20 and i think this is brilliant it more old items need to be brought into new childrens lifes wish there was more innocent things like this around now
my brother and i use to love this song, sadly he passed away yesterday. i am going to miss him, but i will always have the memories and this song. Chris, you will be missed by us all, your lill bro Allen
Ed Stewpot and Family Favourites was a staple in our house when we were kids and this brings memories FLOODING back!!! How wonderful to hear this again!!
