And dig the pure, unadulterated response of the visiting scientists and the show's host--he has absolutely no preconceptions about psychedelic effects, never heard of psychedelics. We are seeing here a truly first-hand virgin response.
@AmosNomore hello AMOSNOMORE, I am looking for a BBC broadcast from 1961 called - Eye on Research,The Sacred Mushroom- any idea where to find it?? Just asking because you have put up this wonderful video on Youtube, thanks!
@AmosNomore i think they mean do you agree or disagree with psychedelics r or any other drugs. for example i like weed and i smoke weed and in reality is barely even harmless i think it should be legal again
@Chimpaliciousness I believe anyone should be able to alter their own consciousness in any way that doesn't physically harm another, without prohibition of any sort.
@AmosNomore Well said.. Its whats called....eh... Freedom, freedom of choice. And anyone who says they live in a free society and yet are not allow to partake of Consciousness Alterating "Plants" by Oneslef. does NOT live in a Free Society.. Remember people, "you can't be a little it pregnant", this is aklso one of those times were you either ARE or are NOT???
@redtelephone66 i have tried mushroom once, with the full intention of getting every meaningful and substantial experience out of it, andhonestly ive never thought it would be exposed to me in a way SO familiar like i knew this state all along. Time i was observing throughout, but could not feel it. I wanted to be with everyone (i was alone) but somehow it did not matter because i was already with everyone(best way to explain it). Everything made sense, purpose, physicality, consciousness, being
I have never eaten any of these magical mushrooms, however I can imagine that there are some that contain such toxin that it would indeed result in fantastical hallucinations and other extra sensory effects as a result.....Pure Mesculine is supposed to be the Father Of All Hallucinagenic toxins....either way WOW...very interesting video.
Actually psilocybin mushrooms are virtually non-toxic: "The toxicity of psilocybin is low; in rats, the oral [lethal dose is] approximately one and a half times that of caffeine... The lethal dose from psilocybin toxicity [in humans] is unknown at recreational or medicinal levels, and has never been documented... Nearly 1.7 kilograms of dried mushrooms, or 17 kilograms of fresh mushrooms, would be required for a 60 kg person to reach the [lethal dose] of rats."
toxins.. psh, the real toxins are the plastics we are polluting our planet with, the GMO foods we are poisoning our children with, the additives and artificial synthetics we put into our foods and bodies, the toxic chemicals in our vaccines, arsenic, aluminum, baron, all the aerosols that our govts. are literally spraying us - as if we are infesting bugs.. there is so much toxicity and pollution around us and in our society
If we use these 'sacred' plants correctly they're safer than fast food.
This video has a lot of truth to it. many poeple i know. and myself included have had visions or sensations of something that will happen soon. and it does in the very same way. although i dont like talking about neither of us do. The mushroom is very mysterious and powerful. Mother nature holds secrets.
This show was so ground breaking. Most weeks they retold stories that actually happened, but this one, cheesy as some of it seems, was ground breaking, considering John Neuland got this on the air in 1959.
Is this really what happened? That's pretty amazing he did that well on the various tests! I never thought extra-sensory perception is enhanced by the shroom; it was always presented as a way to study regular sensory perception as a result of brain's reaction to the introduced neuro-chemical.
I can't think of any motivation for such distinguished individuals to falsify the results of this little study. Profound ESP is something which is experienced in many psychonauts using psilocybin mushrooms, especially in doses considerably above those considered "recreational". Telepathy has been reported fairly commonly in such cases, anecdotally. It would be so wonderful to see full-fledged scientific research into such properties of mushrooms and other psychedelics performed again.
Thanks to researchers such as Dr. Rick Strassman, author of "DMT: The Spirit Molecule", who opened the doors to a renaissance of psychedelic research with his DMT studies at the University of New Mexico in the '90s, the DEA and FDA have lightened up more than most people are aware in regard to such matters, and research into potential medical and other uses of such drugs as ketamine, psilocybin, LSD and ibogaine looks to be proceeding apace. See the MAPS website for more detailed information.
Lol. There was once a rumor that he had tripped with some of his students at Antioch. It could be apocryphal, but it might explain Night Gallery, come to think of it.
Tastes just like Mushrooms! AHahaha! this guys awesome. you can hear how excited he is before he eats them. "They're Magnificent" "I've never been so aware of color... of color... I just want to dive into the middle of it!" Oh, this movie makes me want to eat mushrooms right now.
Of course when you've eaten some Mexican mushrooms you won't start tripping or loosen up at all, you'll just put on a blindfold, try to match up some cards and then fondle a few photographs.
I've only gotten so far into this show, but the sheer fact that they're calling the shamans "brujos" (witches) rather than "curanderos" (healers) says a lot. Shamans can use the medicines to find out a lot about people, but the tradition has to be there. This tradition has been eroded to great extent by globalization and its discontents, and a lot of that knowledge is being unfortunately lost. (Luckily, domestic research on these plants has been resumed after years of stigmatization.)
i think it makes you more aware is all. you feel it with your finger tips and they get insanely more sensitive and might make it easier to your mind. just speculation.
The strobe light and the constant talking looked like a recipe for a bad trip! If anyone wants to do research on bad trips--I volunteer my sister, who notoriously opens and closes the blinding-bright refridgerator door during scared journeys, and chatters.
This episode is mind blowing, now I have even greater respect for John Newland. I purchased a set with 50 chapters and unfortunately this particular one isn't among them.
aint that poate? i don't think im spelling it right i had that stuff but chickened out at the min. btw i'm getting the entire 12 volume on dvd very soon.
I probably would have lost it with the strobe and the camera crew and all. Ol' John Newland held it together nicely. He probably didn't eat many of the mushrooms, but I got a powerful contact high watching this video for the the second time in over 40 years. I was 3 or 4 when I first saw it on TV and was intrigued enough that, even at such a young age, I was certain the psychedelic mushroom would be a potent guiding archetype throughout my lifetime.
what is the scientific name of this mushroom?

toxins.. psh, the real toxins are the plastics we are polluting our planet with, the GMO foods we are poisoning our children with, the additives and artificial synthetics we put into our foods and bodies, the toxic chemicals in our vaccines, arsenic, aluminum, baron, all the aerosols that our govts. are literally spraying us - as if we are infesting bugs.. there is so much toxicity and pollution around us and in our society

I love how anyone watching this who hasn't taken them is thinking "oh taking shrooms is just a bunch of colors and geometric shapes..."
hahaha yeah that's about 10% of it.
The last 90% there is no words in any language yet created to describe.

This show was so ground breaking. Most weeks they retold stories that actually happened, but this one, cheesy as some of it seems, was ground breaking, considering John Neuland got this on the air in 1959.

Is this really what happened? That's pretty amazing he did that well on the various tests! I never thought extra-sensory perception is enhanced by the shroom; it was always presented as a way to study regular sensory perception as a result of brain's reaction to the introduced neuro-chemical.
dollaresque 3 years ago
I can't think of any motivation for such distinguished individuals to falsify the results of this little study. Profound ESP is something which is experienced in many psychonauts using psilocybin mushrooms, especially in doses considerably above those considered "recreational". Telepathy has been reported fairly commonly in such cases, anecdotally. It would be so wonderful to see full-fledged scientific research into such properties of mushrooms and other psychedelics performed again.
AmosNomore 3 years ago
Thanks to researchers such as Dr. Rick Strassman, author of "DMT: The Spirit Molecule", who opened the doors to a renaissance of psychedelic research with his DMT studies at the University of New Mexico in the '90s, the DEA and FDA have lightened up more than most people are aware in regard to such matters, and research into potential medical and other uses of such drugs as ketamine, psilocybin, LSD and ibogaine looks to be proceeding apace. See the MAPS website for more detailed information.

Hmm, I wonder what the Twilight Zone would have been like, had Rod Serling eaten mushrooms before doing his hosting duties.
Teflon65 3 years ago 5
Rod Serling eating mushrooms became the series Night Gallery! LOL!
PatchworkDream 3 years ago 3

No mention of any psychedelic effects at all...

Beta-glucan once gave me that feeling

What effects?... John you'll find out!
The strobe light and the constant talking looked like a recipe for a bad trip! If anyone wants to do research on bad trips--I volunteer my sister, who notoriously opens and closes the blinding-bright refridgerator door during scared journeys, and chatters.

Way cool! I didn't even know this existed. I knew he had appeared on an old Perry Mason show. I wonder if that's posted somewhere?
I was kinda hoping the narrator became psychotic and tried to kill someone. LOL.
Thanks for posting this.

My pleasure!
