could you guys add annotations in your future videos saying when you have coil-tapping activated, i can hear an obvious change in the sound, but i'm never quite sure because these guitars just have so many different sounds coming out of them
i was going to get a les paul until i played the hellraiser. schecter is making amazing stuff now but what im wondering is this: i played the one with the EMGs which was amazing for metal (of course) how well can this thing do the big heavy stuff?
If I had that tone that he had in the beginning, I wouldn't want to change it lol, I would just do a demo with that the whole time. The other tones you get out of it are pretty cool too
Oh man... This or an LTD EC 1000. Anyone? The only thing that would sway my mind is the amount of mother of pearl, or whatever htat is inlayed on the LTD... But any ideas from anyone?
I'm facing the exact same question. I love the matte finish you can get on the EC1000 but I think those are a little hotter on the pickups. Having finally sat down and played them both on the same setup consecutively, I'm leaning toward the Solo-6.
i have this guitar and it is def amazing...it has a great tone ..this thing is heavy must b 20 lbs of solid mahogony man ,even when not pluged in this guitar rings out with tone ..best 500 buck i ever spent on a guitar...huge gibson fan just dont have gibson money..and btw when u see this guitar online or in a pic its realy not as bright looking as it looks on camera its a lil darker look better imo...more tobacco or rootbeer burst realy lol ...stays in tune and the sustain is awsome !
@yangtou767 its made in korea...but set up to play in the usa ...dude dont b fooled by the whole korea thig this guitar is a beast plays and sound sweet i have one ..solo 6 custom
actually a better or equal sound to angus' SG in the beginning when he's playing hell's bells, it seems like a great guitar to me that I'd love to own if I wasn't building my own :)
@EpictheEpicest not angus sound that much, more a real 80's hard rock sound like motley crue... but if it sound so good its more because he is using a handwired vox ac30 with alnico blue speakers.
I just bought the solo 6 custom which is supposed to have the sh-11 and 59 pickups, but when loosened up the pickups and looked underneath the neck pickup was labeled an SH-2N which is the jazz pickup bridge was SH-11, I wonder how the factory would have managed to put a jazz instead of a 59' ?
haha it doesn't. not likely anything ever really will.
completely different grade guitar, it is still a very nice guitar though i'm not being a pompous ass. something i like about all schecters is most have coil taps and other accessories that allow your guitar to be as versatile as possible. very well made as well, for under a grand you'd be hard pressed to find anything better, i doubt you'd be able to find anything actually
Why am I hearing the quality of the current Gibson line is less than stellar? I've heard from several people and online that it's horrible. Is this true?
@sbarton Lol somewhat. Gibson has been producing more duds lately. But I bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio in 2008 and it's a stellar guitar. Everythings stock. Only thing I did when I got the guitar was adjust the action and the pickups and I was all set. Gibson's still making quality.
I liked this review, except one little thing. First he says, "it allows you to aces the higher frets" and then he plays up to 20, or 21 fret, but not higher :) Looks like a solid guitar worth buying!
Schecter Solo-6 Classic and 2010 Custom's are 24.75" scales. Schecter Hellraiser and Blackjack ATX are 25.5" scales. The Schecter website and catalog is up to date with this information as of Feb 2010.
of course it will, if you put plates on them then the microphone doesn't take so much resonance and signal and it gives more tight and bass sound i assume?
hey scotty your a sick player and i really like your chops do you have any dvd instructional video? or do you have a cd a band please let me know i live here in upstste newyork do you do tours on your band or in proguitrashop demo please let me know i wanted to be like you on playing guitars thanks
Whoooooaaaahhh...that's some kind of run-on sentence! Scotty doesn't have an instructional DVD (that we know of) but he was in a band called Sweaty Nipples for some time in the 90's. They have some videos that are easily found on youtube.
@ArianeQube I think it would do the job mate. I use the same pickups in some of my guitars, they have great versatility it's like a hot vintage tone and It's good for just about anything. I know JB uses quite low output pickups in his guitars but there is so much wood in a les paul you get so much more sustain anyway, All the best :)

Does the tonepros metric bridge really make a huge difference from a regular bridge that comes on an Epiphone Les Paul? Would it really change the sustain by much?
I just got mine....took me 3 months....its friggen awsome and I love it. The ebony fretboard, the graph tech nut, the pick ups, the finish is flawless. Great guitar!!
what I like about your reviews is that you spend most of the time PLAYING the thing and showing what the gears about and not mindlessly describing it and talking on and on like so many other reviewers - "shut up and play yer guitar!" - frank zappa
This has been covered over & over. The Schecter site is WRONG. Believe me! I'm sitting in front of my computer, playing one right now! I've measured the fretboard, it's 25.5, just like these guys say. Schecter needs to fix that error.
this guitar does sound really well, but I wonder if it isn't just the amp ... Nah, probably not! I'm definitly gonna try this axe next time I go to my dealer! The coil tapping makes it really versatile, and the sound, the shape, the looks, gawd! Does anyone know the european prices? thanks!
Wow! I have a Gibson SG Standard, and I like...I want this guitar n NOW!! jeje It will be cool also other color finishes for this model like Gold Top, White, and other colors besides ''black'' that I consider is a totally boring. check out the washburn WI66. those are nice too. seymours, grovers and buzz feiten. altough the LP will sound the best most likely, they do weigh a ton. I have a classic and it's really heavy.

check out the washburn WI66. those are nice too. seymours, grovers and buzz feiten. altough the LP will sound the best most likely, they do weigh a ton. I have a classic and it's really heavy.
