David tugs at my heart just as my own children. My oldest son was diagnosed with Aspergers a year ago (6), and my other two sons (5 and 3) are unofficially diagnosed. This means they are considered "developmentally delayed" until official testing is done. There are people that may think I am crazy, but I believe that Autistic/Aspies have something we "normal" people lost long ago, our sense of innocence. @1800mushy They will obviously need a lot more help than other kids at gaining independence, some will never live independantly, I guess that's the hardest thing. They will need full time care as adults aswell. not to sound negitive, but knowing that your kid won't be able to take care of themselves after you are gone must be awful. the mum can't take care of the boy forever. the future looks bleak for people with severe autism, unless they have a lot of help. so i'd say it's just life.
