These songs make me feel great. They give me this vibe of 'It's the good ol' days.' or something, mixed with an upbeat groove, and dash of technoish/etc. No idea if there is even a genre for this type of music. Friggen awesome.

I think the real reason that mainstream music isn't nearly as awesome as this is... most mainstream music tries to please everybody. I mean, unless it was a song they perticularly hated for some reason, can you think of many mainstream songs that required taste to like? No, they were pretty much neutral. Caravan Palace, on the other hand, is very specialized, meaning not everyone will like it, but those who do like it LOVE it. :D

Man, Kalimba from Ninja Tuna is what got me into the whole techno/electronic genre. Sweet Smoke is what got my friends into it.

tbh, electro swing will never be mainstream. like I can only think of one mainstream artist who produced electro swing, and that's Mr Scruff and he doesn't even do Electro swing anymore, his new stuff is all techno. He's not so mainstream anymore, not as much as he was in the 90's anyways.
