the violins were awesome. donna summer did a fantastic job of covering this song but if you want to see emotion check out Sade's live version of this song it'll make a grown man cry.
This is even more powerful than the original!!! in my Humble opinion. Donna Summer is so Emotional and "true" is this Brilliant song from the Brilliant SADE.
First and foremost NO ONE can do the original Pearls like SADE did. However threre are two things I will give Mrs Summers props for pulling off very well in this song.
A) The use of live violins totally sets this song off. I wish Sade would use it in her live performance
B) The use of the guitar I feel really brought the song into today (not that it needed to be). Great rendition nevertheless!
Excellent job with a Sade classic, only thing I dont like is the guitar riffs. "Pearls" is such a powerful song with just vocals and teh violins that it needs nothing else! Simple is best in this case.
She's in her true element when she lets her powerful voice soar like she does here. I go to her concerts solely 2 hear her sing these kinds of gems. Forget the disco... when she sings this type of song, her voice moves me like no one else. Can't wait for her new cd in '08. Leave the disco behind, Donna! The rest of the world needs to learn a little secret... that this woman has one SERIOUS voice! She has never received the kudos she so rightfully deserves. 2008 will be your year, Donna!
Wow! She's really come to own this song....That Hallelujah part just sends me....Very moving indeed! Come on, Donna...How long do we have to wait for a new CD with this and other 'Pearls' ? Anticipation is long overdue...
This song is called "Pearls." Thanks very much for uploading it, the audio is crystal-clear, unlike the distorted versions uploaded here earlier. The audio is much more important to me than video. Who could listen to this and not acknowledge the woman is a musical genius? Especially after she really starts wailing halfway through.
i hear this and midway through i'm expecting donna to go disco with it. :) i heard sade sing this live in concert tonight and it was beautiful.

she is not in tune with the violins her singing is not half as emotional nor as honest as Sade's the guitar is out of context

@eyed9 you're listening to donna's version through a personal recording. i'm sure it sounds 1000% better in person.

Without a doubt a great rendition of this song but the original by Sade has a stronger characteristic than this and I also miss Sade's accent.
