Dairy cows suffer in a myriad of ways; intensive milking/removed from their mothers immeadiately after birth/kept in a similiar 'battery' captivity to that of animals reared for meat. It would make sense to go vegan if the reasons that you are vegetarian are largely down to ethical concerns, surely?
Here's a fun fact for everyone: Gorillas eat meat in captivity, but they won't (usually) eat meat in the wild. Moral of the Story...You can be big and scarey just by eating your vegetables!

Humans are omnivores, meaning we can digest meat and plants.
Eating meat is natural, its part of life, you need it to make an ecosystem.
Vegetarians are people who are over sensitive about eating an animal just because it once was alive.
Meat is also very healthy for you and can heal sickness, so not eating it is stupid.
I know it might feel bad for animals, but humans are more important then animals, and if you stop eating meat completely you can actully get quite ill.
@spyro40000 In the past we killed animals for what we needed & didn't waste... I would not have a problem with eating meat today if that was still the case. If a man went into a cow's field, shot it in the head with a bolt gun & had done... I wouldn't have a problem with eating it. The fact is, people are now greedy & self-indulgent pigs, slaughtering animals for their every meal which is not necessary. Animals are tortured as much as possible because "fear makes it taste better".
look up a picture of a lettuce happily living life, wild and young not a care in the world, that same lettuce had to die so you people could live your vegetarian lifestyle, plants have emotions too they hurt, love, cry and feel anger just like all of you.....
Personally, I'm not a vegetarian because I don't like vegetables. However, I highly respect the vegetarian/vegan community because you all seem like intelligent people with good intentions.
oh my god! I'm seriously considering becoming vegetarian just to be in the same community as the guy with such a beautiful accent :D no, just kidding, I actually came here to search motivation.. started to replace meat a month ago and I need to keep myself motivated :) but still, great to watch! keep going :)
I have been a vegetarian for almost 6 years. I love this video(: and I agree with all of your points. Also, I've read some of these comments people have been posting... And I'm just going to say it in the simplest way possible. You people who put down vegetarians are rude. We are not all hippies. Some are, but others are not.we are not retarded, or stupid, or clueless. We love this lifestyle and if you dot agree, don't watch videos on it. Apparently you care enough to leave these comments.. So
I grew up in London, having never previously even seen a farm (I mean a proper one not just like a few goats a horse and a pig) and I'm currently staying in a farming community in Alabama for a little while. The guy up the road from me owns 6 huge chicken warehouses with 25,000 sun deprived chickens in each one. He also has around 150 cows that will be beef soon, he has more cows but they are bulls/mothers. I can objectively say that I have no problem eating meat.
Me and my family are all vegetarians, I'm currently 19 years old and have never eaten meat with two older sisters, who were raised the same way and everyone in my family is extremely healthy. But don't take my word for it, we auditioned with over 300 other families for the game show Family Fued and were the first family to be picked from nashville to go on the show. Everyone in my family at some point have modeled (minus me cause i didnt want to). Go Vegetarian, its worth it. You'll thank me.
Did you know that the jain believe that what your doing, pulling out vegetables from underneath the ground, you are doing exactly what your saying about us eating meat? You really need to read the sixths patriotarchs sutra.Diamomond Sutra and tithrinkartha first for knowledge. Rather than misinforming people about vegetarianisms. You have real vegetarianism totally incorrect.
OK so all the people stop eating meat..... now the animal population grows and grows..... millions and millions of jobs lost... people go hungry....economy fail.... banks collapse...... animals overrun cities, run wild in their billions........ well? what do you do? cull them? is that your answer? answer that!
@fairhillnorrie Animals were fine before humans start farms and slaughterhouses. The only reason why their population is too large is because WE, humans, are farming them. And about people starving, all the grains and water that we use to feed cattle would be enough to feed THE ENTIRE POPULATION ON EARTH.
@freckleskater15 I have seven chickens, and I believe that happy birds make the best eggs, and eating eggs is a good source of nutrition. Sometimes I let them drink beer from my hand. I'm not sure about my "ethical choices," but this is true story, and I live Texas.
whenever i think about wanting meat, i think about my cat. i've had him for three years, i probably love him more than i love my parents, and whenever i get an urge to eat something that has real meat in it, i just think of him being cut open and roasted, and then i imagine somebody eating him, and i don't want meat anymore (i understand most places/people wouldn't sell or eat a cat, it's just what i do to stop myself)
I've changed my mind about meat. I really love animals and to just think that I have been eating some poor animal's life all these past years, I disgust myself. I'm a vegetarian for maybe a week or so, and am proud of myself.
You know what would be super funny? If aliens from outer space abducted a bunch of poultry/beef corporate-profiteers, and then made them live in cramped conditions, genetically modified them, and then ate them. So what if the little green men like to snack on human barbecue? Maybe it's already happening! Muwahhahah!
@Drakedog777 Posting a negative comment at me is not a good idea. I have a lot of love and respect for "retards" and vegans, even though I am neither. You Drakedog777, are not entitled to respect since you don't respect others.
So many ignorant unintelligent retards on here. Science backs up veggie/vegan. Helps the planet. Helps your body. helps the animals. it's a win win for all of us. Do research before you make comments that make you look like a cunt.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
WHAT A FAGGOT! HE PROBABLY EATS DICK INSTEAD OF MEAT. THIS GUY IS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE BIGGEST HOMO'S I HAVE EVER SEEN. ITS NATURAL TO EAT MEAT ITS SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST YOU LITTLE CRACKERJACK BITCH HARRY POTTER BRITISH MOTHERFUCKER, CLOSE YOUR LEGS YOUR PUSSY WREAKIN! THIS GUY IS A DEFINITION OF A FAGGOT
@crawford8991 Fuck you! Just because you know some cusswords by listing to your dysfunctional parents fight and use them in capital letters doesn't hide the fact that you are a drop-out twelve yr. old who can't do long division! You have NO idea what those animals go through, faggot!
This video is a perfect example of human beings trying to change what is, basically, nature. The Tiger-people would surely eat manburgers made from pure manbeef. It's just that we're on top of the food chain, and just like any other creature in our position would, we exploit our power. Is it right? Certainly questionable. But it's nature.
@MrJenssen I used to think like this before. Animals don't eat people. They're not part of their basic food. Of course, they'll attack us but, to them, we're still animals and they don't really see any difference so, of course, killing us, they'll end up eating us too. The fact is that, we, as humans, don't need meat anymore. It has been proven by many scientifics that we aren't even suppose to consume meat. So, killing animals when you don't need it is useless.
I feel like being a vegetarian is slightly hypocritical because you're still consuming animal products that animals suffer to produce. They may not be killed for their meat but if you're talking about having the animals best interest at heart, I feel like you'd have to go all the way and become a vegan.
@MelissaMees its very inconvenient to be vegan. its the farm's fault for causing animals to suffer for their products. there are proper traditional farms that do not cage chickens for eggs or use milking machines on cows.
and seriously, do you vegtards even have priorities? and if you have them, how about setting them STRAIGHT?
you cry like a little girl, make your life miserable and try to convince people and do all you can to save the animals from being food, How about you do something for the people who are starving to death.. you don't care? well so do we, I'm off to get me a burger.
@Drakedog777 I dont even understand why you say I make my life miserable. I am healthy and happy with the way I decide to live my life. And yeah, I have an opinion about something important to me, of course I'll share it with people and try to make them see things differently. And wtf, why the fact that I care about animals makes me automatically dont care about humans starving ? Albert Einstein was himself a vegetarian. That doesnt mean he didnt give a fuck about people!
guess what, me and millions who eat NORMALLY are healthy and happy, we eat burgers, nuggets, pizzas, and steaks and we are healthy and more stronger than you, and probably more happier than you, meat tastes better than vegetables.
Also, I'm a Religious person, No Religion has forbidden eating animals.
and why the f are you vegs trying to get people to become vegs? i've never seen a video called 'reasons to be a meat eater' or whatever, live ur life, ill live mine
Yes, I'm Religious, I don't go around forcing people to convert, I believe in something and I'm going to live according to my beliefs even if I was the last Religious person on earth.
I don't care about other people opinions, unlike you people, All these commercials and adds trying to stop people from eating meat, It's because you're living a sad life and instead of accepting it, you want to drag people with you.
@Drakedog777 you really dont know your history if you think religion doesnt force people to join it and i can easily say you arent a real christian because there are so many sins and rules you dont follow and probably have never heard of
"Personally, I just think it's pretty disgusting to put a dead animals carcass into your mouth, chew it around a little bit, and then digest it into your body. It's just not a very sexy thing to do to be honest."
@Hyyra its not hard to find at all. In the U.S. just look for products made by Morningstar, or Boca (they're not as good.) And i'm sure there are others. Its good stuff. I eat the "chicken" patties, "burgers", "bbq ribs", all sorts of stuff.
I lately sarted... see how it goes, feel much better and know I do a right thing. But what I really am shocked about is... how people react. I mean in real life it has mostly just joking around with the topic and loads of misconseptions. But internet comments are just... It feels like 60% of meat eaters leave a negative comment under whatever post about vegetarianism. And it is amazing because I don't pick about them eating meat. Why that hate?
You dont want to be responsible? Guess what, you're still responsible, because you use MONEY . What if you go to a shop and buy something, the shop owner gets your money and he decides to eat meat with that? Theres no way you can not be responsible for something indirectly in such a complex society. And no being vegetarian is not a better choice of diet, just like eating meat it has its pros and cons.
Being part of the reason meat manufacturers treat and kill animals the way they do is a little bit more direct than giving somebody money that they will eventually spend on meat. I get your point, that we're not directly responsible for the killing/treatment of animals, but we're more involved than that comparison.
Also, I'm pretty sure that most vegetarians would agree that buying meat substitutes, free range product, or eating less are much better choices.
Substituting meat with meat flavoured products? you don't want to eat animals because that makes you responsible for the slaughter of that cute little animal, but you DO want to eat something that tastes just like it lol
@hyra, I don't think you were even paying attention to this video. He had said that there are alternatives! Fake chicken nuggets, bacon, chorizo, hamburgers, etc.
I'm going on to my 2nd year as a vegetarian and I gotta say, its one of the best decisions I've made yet. I'm 17, btw. Almost 2 yrs down & forever to go! :D
@Hyyra That's a complete load of nonsense. Eating too much meat causes lots of illnesses. Don't just believe what you've been told by your gran and the meat industry.
@TsukamotoTenma45 It's too bad all of these statistics are useless because noone cares. Vegetarianism is just a way for people to feel good about themselves. w/e
@MegaElkHunter1 Land plants only produce around 20-30% of the Earth's oxygen. The rest of that burden falls upon algae. And yes, I do realize you were probably joking, but still.
vegetarians are awesome! you shouldn't eat an animal just because you can. i don't eat meat is because i don't want to have an animal killed for my satisfaction.
Being a vegetarian is a disorder. Plain and simple. It's a classic example of people thinking they are on some moral high ground because they believe killing animals is wrong. Guess what? Plants are alive too. Prove to me that they aren't conscious, that they don't feel pain when you kill them too.
Animals kill other animals for food. Does that make them morally wrong? No. They do it because that's the way the world works.
@gerbinator2009 plants don't have a central nervous system. there you go. i am vegetarian because i don't support the slaughter of animals for profit, but for survival it is a different story. try and respect vegetarian's choices, they aren't all for the same reason.
@gerbinator2009 Sure, plants don't have a nervous system and are therefore unable to feel pain and suffering. If you really think that's a serious objection to vegetarianism then you need to do some serious research. Also, animals don't have a sense of morality and do not recognize reasons to appreciate the lives of other animals, therefore it is not wrong for them to kill other animals. Humans do have a sense of morality, therefore its wrong when we do it. Simple.
@mrabdrum Actually, studies have shown that mice do possess empathy, no matter how primitive; they become more sensitive to pain when one of their fellow cage mates are also experiencing pain, the sensitivity is triggered through not only pheromones but also sight, which is one of their less used senses. Dogs have also been known to show empathy and care for abandoned young. If that's not a clear sense of morality, however simplified from our own, then I don't know what is.
@cashmann907 well yea, you're actually right. But mice don't feel as obligated as we are to do certain things. Also, they cannot reason to come to conclusions about what is to be morally right and what is to be morally wrong. It's no wonder that lions commit infanticide sometimes... their moral obligations result from the need to survive, ours result from reason. Thats the difference.
@gerbinator2009 Killing animals is wrong in ethical terms. No one have to prove plants lack the ability to feel pain. The burden of proof is on the person making the positive, so far unsubstantiated claim that they do feel pain.
@HebiNoMe Oh I see, so just because plants can't make the same signs of distress as animals, you assume they can't feel pain. What about fish? Most vegetarians don't have a problem killing them. I guess they're just not cute enough to make your vegetarian cut. The point is: you still kill living things for food. Maybe the things you kill aren't as cute, or can't make facial expressions, but you're not on some moral high ground just because you don't kill the fuzzy cute animals.
@gerbinator2009 Plants posess no known system capable of making mental representations at all, let alone of pain. A brain is the only known organ which those attributes can be attributed too.
Allso, i don't eat fish because, as far as i understand, they do posess the ability to feel pain.
@gerbinator2009 Humans don't need to consume meat. Carnivor animals do. We have sense of morality. Animals don't. An eating disorder is basically dangerous for your health. Do you know Herschel Walker ? He's an american football player and is vegetarian.
I'm just starting off on my vegetarian walk. This video gave me a way to start off telling all of my carniverous friends that "Hey guys. I'm a vegetarian." I had been planning on just doing it for a year, for self-mastery, but I think it will now be a preference, or life style, that I will practice for my entire life.
It's never going to stop. The majority of the world will still be eating meat. Why give it up? You only live once. You're made to eat meat. If you are so against the meat industry and cruelty. Just go out and hunt your own food. Then it will be 100% natural and cruel free.
@stylesquare97 That's because you're fucking stupid.Cows, chickens and pigs are barely self aware and besides they're better off living in farms where we provide food, shelter and mates for them.If they lived out in the wild finding food would be a struggle. What sounds better being eaten alive by wolves or being quickly killed by humans?
@fuck1929 Ohmygod! What the hell is wrong with you? I have met people that have been defensive and rude over my opinions but I have never heard someone as stupid as you are!
As Johnny said, I don't want to take responsibility for murder and suffering!
@fuck1929 meat.org ... If you do think animals aren't aware of what's going on, you're the one who's fucking retarded. You have no idea of how disgusting farms are. Nothing is natural there, their lives are short and horrible. Plus, meat industry is the second cause of global warming.
I just officially became a vegetarian as of yesterday. Over the past few weeks I've been more reluctant to eat meat, because everytime I saw a piece of meat I only saw the face of the animal staring back at me. I ate it anyways. I also had a very important realization that just because animals are less complex than humans, they are still living beings who live on this planet just like us-who are also born the same way we are. I watched a slaughterhouse video from Peta and that sealed the deal.
@purplemarkerunicorn A friend suggested Food Inc to me. I became Vegan on the spot.....cold turkey. It was the easiest thing I have ever done. It has been over two years for me now and I have never felt better. Any time I am tempted to eat meat (happens VERY rarely) I simply watch about 2 minutes of Food Inc and I am recommitted to the life style.
EATING PLANTS IS WRONG!! JUST BECAUSE THEY CANT SCREAM DOESNT MEAN THEY DONT HAVE FEELINGS. what humans should do is eat nothing! that way no one gets harmed,
been a vegetarian for two years!
And now whenever someone asks me "Why?" -Which happens a lot-I can just write down this website for them and tell them to go watch it ^_^

The fact is, people are now greedy & self-indulgent pigs, slaughtering animals for their every meal which is not necessary. Animals are tortured as much as possible because "fear makes it taste better".

MrJenssen 1 month ago 2
@MrJenssen I used to think like this before. Animals don't eat people. They're not part of their basic food. Of course, they'll attack us but, to them, we're still animals and they don't really see any difference so, of course, killing us, they'll end up eating us too. The fact is that, we, as humans, don't need meat anymore. It has been proven by many scientifics that we aren't even suppose to consume meat. So, killing animals when you don't need it is useless.
xCallirgos 1 month ago
I feel like being a vegetarian is slightly hypocritical because you're still consuming animal products that animals suffer to produce. They may not be killed for their meat but if you're talking about having the animals best interest at heart, I feel like you'd have to go all the way and become a vegan.
MelissaMees 1 month ago
@MelissaMees its very inconvenient to be vegan. its the farm's fault for causing animals to suffer for their products. there are proper traditional farms that do not cage chickens for eggs or use milking machines on cows.

You dont want to be responsible? Guess what, you're still responsible, because you use MONEY . What if you go to a shop and buy something, the shop owner gets your money and he decides to eat meat with that? Theres no way you can not be responsible for something indirectly in such a complex society. And no being vegetarian is not a better choice of diet, just like eating meat it has its pros and cons.
thaappaya 1 month ago
@thaappaya
Being part of the reason meat manufacturers treat and kill animals the way they do is a little bit more direct than giving somebody money that they will eventually spend on meat. I get your point, that we're not directly responsible for the killing/treatment of animals, but we're more involved than that comparison.
Also, I'm pretty sure that most vegetarians would agree that buying meat substitutes, free range product, or eating less are much better choices.

vegetarians are awesome! you shouldn't eat an animal just because you can. i don't eat meat is because i don't want to have an animal killed for my satisfaction.
MrBustist 1 month ago
Being a vegetarian is a disorder. Plain and simple. It's a classic example of people thinking they are on some moral high ground because they believe killing animals is wrong. Guess what? Plants are alive too. Prove to me that they aren't conscious, that they don't feel pain when you kill them too.
Animals kill other animals for food. Does that make them morally wrong? No. They do it because that's the way the world works.
gerbinator2009 1 month ago
@gerbinator2009 plants don't have a central nervous system. there you go. i am vegetarian because i don't support the slaughter of animals for profit, but for survival it is a different story. try and respect vegetarian's choices, they aren't all for the same reason.
PrettyShadesofGrey 1 month ago
@gerbinator2009 Sure, plants don't have a nervous system and are therefore unable to feel pain and suffering. If you really think that's a serious objection to vegetarianism then you need to do some serious research. Also, animals don't have a sense of morality and do not recognize reasons to appreciate the lives of other animals, therefore it is not wrong for them to kill other animals. Humans do have a sense of morality, therefore its wrong when we do it. Simple.
mrabdrum 1 month ago
@mrabdrum Actually, studies have shown that mice do possess empathy, no matter how primitive; they become more sensitive to pain when one of their fellow cage mates are also experiencing pain, the sensitivity is triggered through not only pheromones but also sight, which is one of their less used senses. Dogs have also been known to show empathy and care for abandoned young. If that's not a clear sense of morality, however simplified from our own, then I don't know what is.
cashmann907 1 month ago
@cashmann907 well yea, you're actually right. But mice don't feel as obligated as we are to do certain things. Also, they cannot reason to come to conclusions about what is to be morally right and what is to be morally wrong. It's no wonder that lions commit infanticide sometimes... their moral obligations result from the need to survive, ours result from reason. Thats the difference.
mrabdrum 1 month ago
@gerbinator2009 Killing animals is wrong in ethical terms. No one have to prove plants lack the ability to feel pain. The burden of proof is on the person making the positive, so far unsubstantiated claim that they do feel pain.
HebiNoMe 1 month ago
@HebiNoMe Oh I see, so just because plants can't make the same signs of distress as animals, you assume they can't feel pain. What about fish? Most vegetarians don't have a problem killing them. I guess they're just not cute enough to make your vegetarian cut. The point is: you still kill living things for food. Maybe the things you kill aren't as cute, or can't make facial expressions, but you're not on some moral high ground just because you don't kill the fuzzy cute animals.
gerbinator2009 1 month ago
@gerbinator2009 Plants posess no known system capable of making mental representations at all, let alone of pain. A brain is the only known organ which those attributes can be attributed too.
Allso, i don't eat fish because, as far as i understand, they do posess the ability to feel pain.
HebiNoMe 1 month ago
@gerbinator2009 Humans don't need to consume meat. Carnivor animals do. We have sense of morality. Animals don't. An eating disorder is basically dangerous for your health. Do you know Herschel Walker ? He's an american football player and is vegetarian.
