when i first saw this ep, after Will says "it's yours", i remember running up two flights of stairs, throwing open my mother's bedroom door and yelling whilst gasping for air "she's dying, mom, MAGNUS IS DEAD" and my mom just stared at me, probably trying to think the right institution to send me to.
Nikola's lines are soo funny! I literaly laugh out loud EVERY time! I'm not even going to bother typing up all his funny quotes in this episode, there's too many! :)
Petty comment really but if their from the Victorian age then there would be no king only a queen, because Victoria caused a big fuss trying to make Albert king, but ultimately failed. if a queen marries, then the man becomes a prince, if a king marries he has a queen. Sad i know. However it's a bloody awesome episode.
@sancgate101 During part of the episode, the fashion of the era worn by Helen is that of the Edwardian era, 1910s-1920s (compare to the Titanic movie, for example, if you need quick visual references), well past Queen Victoria's reign. So it is entirely possible that this is the reason for the episode's name, dearie. ^_^
I wish they would do a series of Sanctuary before all of this during The Fives years at Oxford and there involvement with Sanctuary activities with the group of them. And I so wish the invisible man was alive QQ That was one of my favourite people in classic novels. Great episode again :)
@jennidot Maybe they can do that when they finish the regular series. I love this series and I'm glad my friend recommended it to me. I'm getting caught up so I can watch the season 4 episodes when they come out on tv. I really like the idea though. I'm going to suggest it to my friend who's obsessed with Sanctuary because she could come up with an entire series about it I think.

I love how gracefully she wraps his arm around her and slides in/snuggles next to him. Its a testament to AT's fabulous acting and mastery of her movements...not an easy thing to do without looking awkward.

Note that Helen wrapped herself in John's arms as one would a blanket. To me, it was a gesture of soothing/protecting herself rather than one of comforting the more explicitly ill man. This is significant because Helen ALWAYS takes the role of the protectOR (instead of protectED), but in this private moment, Helen betrays her desire to be saved. The fact that she is only willing to show this to an unconscious man tells us she likely hasn't allowed herself this in over a century. Tragic, indeed.
@1TheSocraticMethod1 Yeah it's a really great scene. This whole episode, but particularly this scene brings to mind the fact that most of this is Helen's fault. She gave him the source blood and turned him into a killer, then she lets him kill the Cabal members because it suits her to turn a blind eye, then she let's him take back the energy elemental to save the Sanctuary, and now she goes to find him because she needs him. I love Helen, but she really is quite callous.
@MackerelCat In one way, you're quite right. And, you know, I love that they're giving Helen a darker edge - that she's not simply the 'white knight'. People aren't simple, and that fact should only be compounded when you are 159 years old! Brilliant writing, really. AT does a great job of portraying it too; I love how cold and austere Helen is in the Victorian/Edwardian era. It makes her a far more interesting protagonist than the sort of 'Mary Poppins with guns' from Season 1.

That's the beauty of this show, there are so many avenues to explore with a character like this and hopefully we'll get a lot more episodes looking back at the Magnus of yore.
