wow, i played cosette in this and i was reading through comments and i'd just like to say thanks to everyone who had good things to say about me and my friends! its much appreciated!!!
its a good rendition of one day more i must say. you could also look at my videos though its not that perfect maybe you could get some ideas. just helping here. look at this video "RC"-Les miserables-15 One Day More
Your Enjolras pretty much held the performance together, I have to say. Kudos to him. Out of tune in some places, and lacking in energy, but as you said, they were obviously tired. Ah, yes. Mike drama. Don't we love it. I've had my share of that. Nice touch with the flag, though. ; ) Can't believe they almost left it out!!
I just played Les Mis at my school (as a violinist) so I know this song is really annoying to play, but seriously..the violins play the same 4 notes over and over again.
Marius was incredibly flat..and I don't think it's because he's a junior, our was a sophomore. His voice just isn't really developed enough, in my opinion.
sorry to be harsh, but no one here can actually sing except for cosette. i know the sounds a bit dodgy, but yeah, i've heard much better. i know i'm being very critical but i'm currently performing this show with people this age, or probably younger and it sounds so much better.
valjean was okay,k and too bad marius mike came in a bit late in the beginning, but marius was good, same with eldder cosettea and eponine, o, and great enjolras, (y wasnt enjolras valjean?) and poor javert, his mic came in so late. but good scene overall.
Enjolras, Marius, Cosette, Eponine, and Javert (and Valjean & the Thenardiers) were my favorites :D ! Think of good they would sound without all the problems
Enjolras, Marius, and Cosette are great! Marius's high notes are probably better when he's not sick, though, poor guy. The orchestra, however, leaves much to be desired... The flag was one or two lines late, but kudos to you for putting it in! It wouldn't have been as good without the flag.
it rather bad quality video so its hard to make out voices and images. but from what i can see, it seems very professional and well-acted. And whoever your enjolras is...get that boy on broadway now! he's fantastic.
The bridge is rather saddening. Its such a big part of the show. IT hsoulda have more extravagant. And what up with the crew kid comign up right where the spotlight was showing. shoulda waited til focus was on Marius
We did this show at Norwin HIgh school in spring 2005 and it rocked. Our cast and crew were the best i have ever seen them. we went to a gathering called "Night of the Stars" with 12 other high schools in our area performaing 12 mins of our shows annd we rocked them all away. Your marius struggled. JVJ struggled on "more" alot i think. But even with my personal high expectations for a HS showing, this isnt too bad at all. I have seen much worse come out of a high school Good job altogether
I must agree, Enjolras is brilliant, a real good strong Enjolras, really fits his role. Although generally I think the cast can't fill the stage all the time. valjean is very good aswell.
It was pretty awesome...A lot of notes were just dropped though :( And the swinging of the arms during the march shouldn't have been put in...Didn't look good, made me think more of Pirates or Oklahoma...Should have just been stepping more side to side...very simple...But amazing orchestra and impressive vocals, for the most part...
It is still much distance between the pro one but i think it is ok for some high school students...U must think they are busy at studying and they need to train this.I (ar pee she ate) your performance@Q
i go to not aperforming arts school but our theatre is def known in the city/state....haha of course im bias ill say ours was better but we did have the same kind of mic problems...but your orch was better.
i don't want to be mean, its just school pride. considering everything, illness and rehearsals, it was definately good. i got major illness in the middle of the week between the sets of shows and kno how tough it is. i don't wanna be mean. i was just saying. if u can get ANYTHING from your actual performance, post cuz id like to see it.
At my high school our musicals tend to kinda suck. And even with all the problems you had, this was still better than our productions, even if we've never done Les Mis. lv19cp has apparantly decided not to take the circumstances into account. You shouldn't listen to the people who shot down the performance, because I've noticed that the majority of people on youtube are jerks. ::rates five for effort::
lv19cp, enough of your prattling. I think these kids did a pretty damn good job considering the circumstances. If they had funding and training from Broadway actors, I'm sure they could live up to your prissy standards. They did as well as they could with what they had, and that's admireable. They aren't a preforming arts school, so not everyone breathes acting. So stop nitpicking plzkthnx
not too bad. i've seen much worse. the orchestra sounds great! it seems everyone gets sick at some point during a musical.
i must say i'm with hozzy and lv19cp. if you only have seventy people, don't try Les Mis! also, if someone critisizes a video of a dress rehearsal, don't worry about it! although you probably don't have much say in choosing a musical, without more than enough money, people, and talent, attempting a huge musical is a bad idea.
I went to a small school and I'm damned proud of the Les Mis production we put on in 2005. WE weren't an art school, our "orchestra" consisted of an overworked keyboardist and a drummer cause we were a small school, and our sound crew basically learned everything tech week. And I would do it all again. Performing arts school? Look down and see the sweepings of the street you take us to be.
And lest we forget lv19cp, THESE ARE REHEARSALS! HELLO? REHEARSALS
not bad, but not the best. my school recently did this show and it was awesome. we had rather similar problems with microphones, but not with them not being turned on. i agree with lv19cp...just because it wasn't a performing arts school, that isn't an excuse. but it still could have been worse. if i can ever figure out how to upload video using a mac, i'll post a couple of songs.
It's not an excuse, it's a little annoying thing called the truth. Half of them were sick! Honestly, I'm not trying to be a jerk, we have enough of those running around on here, but really hozzy, it's high school. Not perfoming arts. It's not about excuses, and they did try their best. Wanna know why it could've been worse? If they DIDN'T try their best.
The singing was okay, a few notes out of key, the mic's weren't working, and the orchestra was ehh. Still fairly good for a high school musical. KEep up the good work DHS ;)
I don't mean to be mean it's just that when I went to high school our city (Vegas) had high expectations of us and we gave them everything we had because it is what we all wanted to do; it was a performing arts high school. I believe that just because you are a high school doesn't been you cannot have the same passion as a professional. Do you understand what I am saying?
You went to a Performing Arts high school, of course yours was good. If you tried doing this with 70 people who don't know how to act or sing broadway, extremely limited set, and sick leads it wouldn't come out much better.
cruel and bitterly unrealistic in your expectations... sounds like someone is a little jealous. Within this context I thought it was really impressive.
This is before the intermission and it should have been grand and bigger than life. It was horrible the vocals and orchestra killed me. WOW that sucked!
awesome video i enjoyed this great song

Great Enjolras and Eponine - did you get a teacher or parent to sing Enjolras? ;) (oh, and good Thenardiers & Valjean)
I like the ending - the voices mix together a bit too much, but still

Nope. That's a student. He's playing the lead in this year's musical, the Prince in Cinderella. (He was only a junior during Les Mis.)
