THANK YOU :) I just tried, took me a lil to get it, but the point is that I was actually able to do it for a few seconds before they ran into each other! Which made me excited :)
This is by far the BEST self teaching VIDEO I have searched in YOUTUBE. I want to extend my gratitude with you. Still learning POI now, thanks to you! wish I had you as a master here in Cebu...no better substitute than a master!!! Hats off to you!
I watched a dozen videos for beginners at least, and now this is the best I've seen. Great video and sound quality. Nice and calm voice. And a very good explanation. Very nice!
I have a pair of fabric poi and I don't understand the physics of this at all haha. But I can do it! For a minute or so anyways, then I either hit myself or the poi tangle together ;~;
Getting there though! Thanks for the video, this and my DVD are making quite a lovely pair.
Do you recommend people using poi instead of glow sticks on shoe strings? Or dropping pool balls into socks? (I'd like to see videos of people doing THAT as beginners). I'm just learning these moves for glowsticking (no offense) but having trouble with the light weight of the sticks.
wait ...so u make it kinda go alternatly(split time) but not alot, like knida alternate?!?!????kan someone reply telling me how to make them cross without hitting eachother ....like si one in front of the other???
WARNING TO GUYS PRACTICING THIS MOVE!!! You will most likely hit yourself in the nuts (especially in cut time) Learning this move can be rather painful. Wear thick pants or something.
^^ yeah, you are right! I first tried it indeed with heavy poi on chains. I cannot recommend that! For practice i preferred socks with small waterballons in it. They never hurt!
I notice that in alot of your videos you look toward your left side. I took this to heart (even if you do it subconciously :P) and it actually sort of compensates for your off-hand never wanting to listen to you.
poi was a dance used by the women who get married in the traditional maomi. but well... now its some artist-stuff, often done with glowing or burning poi in the dark to some suitable music.
dude(s), what does 'spongle' mean? wikipedia said it just means to be hammered... and what do you call it where you have a ball that keeps still while you move your hand around it? know what i mean?
and thanks a brazillion for the lessons.. it's taken me about 13 years to get on it!
yeah... Raving is definitely not just dancing. Raves are (somewhat professional) parties that are open to the public and primarily play Electronic Dance Music (what most people call techno).
and "Poi" is the Maori word for ball... but is generally used to describe a form of object manipulation using a ball at the end of a chain or string.
nice! I really like you level of detail and step by step instructions (I've been at this for a bit, and a friend put me onto your stuff) - Even the videos for the moves I know offer me new insights and variations!
omg i just started yesterday and ive been going ok so far cos i have ppl to teach me, but you explain in such better detail! there were a few things you showed me that really helped my technique just then thanks!!

i use tennis balls inside of socks :)

I learned by putting hackey sacks into long socks. It worked fine for me.

@gumballskull hackey sacks!! what an awesome idea..dude I forgot all about a hackey sack ^ . ^
estyron27858 1 year ago
@GixxxerKim I use tennis balls in long socks. Glowsticks on strings tend to come off and fly across the room.

Alycia321 3 years ago
I simply just use tubesocks with tennis balls in them. If you need a finger loop, cut a hole near the end.
