Funnily though logically enough the 'giusto tempo' is reinstored automatically when the main theme enters on the violoncello; because there the piano triplets are played on each quarter-melody tone; so that the problem is solved...I am amazed such talented and beautifullt playing musicians didn't notice the problem i just sketched; or another musician in the audience, an experienced listener....it is my conviction your Trio Musicatre really should correct this serious mistake!!
@senar1940 part I: I do agree that this beginning is quite slow - but is this not the wealth of music, the different ways musicians percept and play it? Why not start this wonderful soulful piece a little dreamily? By the way, talking about "serious mistakes": there is no "main theme" in the cello as you state :) ! The main theme comes later in the violin and is being repeated all the way through, whilst the initial cello entry is not...
@senar1940 part II: By the way, on their wonderful Kreisler-Rachmaninov-CD, they have taken the beginning faster, with more audible triplets, which gives the beginning a little of a breeze - I just enjoy it either way, and I don´t care about more or less audible triplets, though...
I am sorry, but the piano introduction is way too slow! I am a pianist studying this music myself. The problem is the pianist(who produces a great tone later on)sticks to
groups of eights(starting with the melody quarters)and slows these down to an Adagio sostenuto level, audibly not realising we have 4 triplets in each bar which keep the
music flow streaming...in other words, you always should keep in mind the triplets
...dear yt-friends, thank you for your support and repeated mails with sheet queries... as stated above, we´re working on publishing the score collection of all Kreisler and Rachmaninov pieces. We will post the news here as soon as we can! MusicATre
...our own MusicA Tre arrangement.... music is due to be published mid-2011 together with around 15 other trio pieces or Kreisler and Rachmaninov - will let you know...
Hi - Rachmaninov himself had, together with Kreisler, set the movement as a violin/piano piece in C major and sold it separately as "Preghiera"... The MusicA Tre arrangement "only" adds the cello part that gives the sound its "orchestral" wealth!
what key is this arrangement in?

There is a real problem here with the tempo (triplets). It doesn't really work as is.

Where did you get the score? I think I may just arrange it in the original key anyway.

This has been arranged in a different key, why would you arrange it that way?
