I remember these little guys! I was 14 and living in Denver when they were born. They were celebrities! You couldn't go anywhere without seeing Klondike and Snow t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, clocks, beach towels, gym bags, everything! People would go see them in the nursery at the zoo through the windows (you can kinda see that in the video) but sometimes lines were two hours long and they kept you moving just to get everyone in. These little guys were a true miracle :)
Such a magical documentary, Thanks for posting. Ani DeFranco fits perfectly. A lamented/regretted partner and I often used to watch this video together. "There'll be tears.."
The moment of recognition between Bears and Caretaker years afterwards is truly inspirational.
They are a freaking baby dumbasses, why the hell would you even say shit like "they are ugly!!" see this is why people hate people like you damn idiots
Such sweet, beautiful tiny fellas! I LOVE bears!! Thanks so much for this great video of these precious sweeties. I'd give anything to hold and cuddle them!! We must stop the drilling & harming of the Polar Bear's habitat! The Earth will be a poor place indeed w/o Polar bears, the Lords of the North.
I miss Klondike and Snow. I was 5 when they were born and Denver was in such a roar over them. EVERYBODY fell in love with them. I remember going to the nursery at the zoo and they would be in there sleeping or being worked with. So adorable. When we went to Sea World in Orlando the first time a year or so after they were moved, I got to see them both on exhibit. When we went a couple years later and they had to be separated to prevent inbreeding and Klondike had a girlfriend. I stil love them.
I'm not sure if they've tried breeding Klondike or Snow, yet. Last time I was out there was in '97, and they were still pretty young. It's probable that they have mated and produced offspring by now.
they still are cool.. they didn't die. They are living at Sea World Orlando now... in fact, I posted a video of Klondike from Dec here if you'd like to see just how big he is now.
I got the DVD in the mail, and the book too. I can't get enough of them either. They were such cute cubs. I wonder if there's a video about them now as adults.
my teacher showed us a book on them and it had to do with math ate the same time

Olaf the polar bear, father of Klondike and Snow, died over the weekend, the Denver Zoo announced Monday.
Olaf was 22 years old. He came to the Denver Zoo in 1987 as 1 1/2-year-old cub.

So how about The Denver Zoo posts the video?
biophysman 2 years ago
Best thing to both: The bears seem to be adapting faster than us (Growlers). thank the Lord for them.
biophysman 2 years ago 2
Hey. I have their video. I almost forgot about them. Thanks Ken and Cindy. I saw Cindy on the manitoba tour.

why does the caretakes stick their fingers in their mouths? is it to teach them something?....very cute video!
BUTERSFRIES 3 years ago 4
I think it is just to calm them, the bears instinctively want to suck on something, just like human infants like pacifiers :)
Khakidoodler 3 years ago 3
Huh that sounds reasonable! but how come they dont just give them some kind of polar bear pacifier or something...im going to do some research!! :)
WakingTheDemon132 3 years ago
its because they have no mother and its like feeding without the actual feeding part.
