  • Lotus 25; Gurney Westlake '67.

    Nothing past 1991? Consider 1988 Ferrari F187- 88C

  • Did you consider: Lotus 25; Gurney Westlake '67; 1994 Ferrari T1, 1997 Williams F1

  • All of them striking to look at. none of them beautiful.

  • I like your list and found most of my favourite cars, maybe not in your order. But I really, really miss the Williams FW11B from 1987. This was absolutely a wonderful car you had to adore and I would put it #1 anytime. Truly a masterpiece of art. Also one should mention the Ligier from 1979.

  • 3:28 in nurburgring yeaaaaaa

  • Fittipaldi's Lotus 72D, sex on 4 wheels

  • 1990 was a great season and most of the best looking cars were made between 85 and 95.

  • Eagle T1G

  • Thank you for picking the Lotus 97t instead of the 98. I've always loved the 85 lotus and thought of it as "what F1 car's look like" since I was like 5.

  • Lotus 49. F1 distilled to purity...

  • u forgot to add MY in title i didnt even watch ur video cuz of that..... idiot

  • Eaven in formula 1 the cars was better looking and waaay more brutal in the 70s and 80s .I would say almost all motorsports in the 70s and 80s was way more spectacular and aggresive. Love those typical 80s flat but squareshaped bodykits and huge wings.

  • Good choice. But where ist the Alfa Romeo 184T in Benetton livery?

  • Agree with no 1 the lotus 79 loked gorgeous especially in the metal, but the others were an odd mix.The 79 was also a landmark car that pointed to the future.

  • I'm curious as to why you left out the 1998-1999 McLarens that Mika Hakkinen won his titles in. Honestly that silver and black livery was the best color scheme I ever saw on an F1 car.

  • Great list. Disagree about the BT55. Would add the '76 Penske of John Watson and the Brabham BT45 + 46 (+B ;))

  • Really great selection. Man, the Jordan '91 was one of the most sexy of all time! But I also liked the Benetton B191b... The 'shark'! Congrats.

  • No williams, nigel's williamsfrom 92?! or 1987?!...damn... :)

  • @purchville Schumacher's championship winning Benetton B194 which was raced the very next year was a Ford/Cosworth.

  • So many of the design you picked are very plain. Not even what I would consider a good paint scheme. Any of the JPS Lotus cars could make the list though. Some of my other favorites: The '83 Ligier JS 21; The Ferrari 312 t3 - t5; The Renault RE 15: 1976 Brabham BT 45: 1972 March 711.... I could go on forever

  • Exellent cars choise and song!!! I put there the Brabham BT 44, Masserati 250F ´58, and Tyrrell P34, but, this respond to pertsonal taste.

    The song name???

  • McLaren MP4/4 best looking (not only) F1 ever

  • That black Lotus is awesome.

  • The Leyton House CG901 was the first modern Adrian Newey design.

  • Ok, so in a top ten, we start at number 13?

  • Personally, I think the best looking car battle is between the1983 Brabham BT52 and the Mclaren MP4/4 of 1988. You forgot to add James Hunt's championship winning Mclaren M23, a very nice car indeed. I do agree the early mid engined Lotus and classic Ferraris should be up there too.

  • Brabham BT52 is Something Wonderful ;)))

  • Excellent selection of cars. Love the Lotus 79. Most beautiful F1 car ever to race.

  • hehehehe... Who knew, that the Mclaren MP4/4 of 1988, was actually based on the Brabham BT55??? Gordon Murray was working for Brabham before moving onto McLaren, and based the championship winning car on the BT55!!!

  • @joostin123 wow, thank you for sharing the knowledge! im blown away by this, completely blown away! :D

  • @MrDontFuckAbout Sarcasm?

    or genuine surprise? ;D

  • @joostin123 ... just a bit shocked that (in my humble opinion) one of the greatest, most dominant F1 cars of all time is based on a 1986 brabham! i realise that Brabhams have won races and championships before my time but in my memory Brabham were a pretty poor team so its a huge shock (in the words of wiki) "the 55s introduction coincided with the end of Brabham as a competitive team", and that is how i remember them!

  • @MrDontFuckAbout True. I was a bit shocked as well

  • Ugly Rial....

  • Personally, I've never seen a more beautiful F1 car than the Arrows A2 from 1979. A pity it ran like a bit of a dog, and I don't think it ever raced with it's engine cover on due to over-heating problems, and I think was a revolutionary idea in it's day was ditched fairly quickly in favour of the more conventional, but still attractive A3.

  • @Cambridgegraham Nice choice! :) I agree...It does look revolutionary for it's day too. Thanks for the comment

  • @purchville - I am looking for a really good picture to frame of the Leyton House March CG901. I saw a couple of great pics of the car.

    1) With all the sparks flying for Titanium skid plates

    2) 2:25

    3) 2:37

    4) 2:40

    5) 2:45 - French Grand Prix - Paul Ricard

Can't find good pics of that Sea Blue color. Where can I go to purchase?

    Please advise

    Johnny G

  • @Cambridgegraham bit of a funny looking car at first, acquired taste i think :L

  • honorable mentions for me would be williams fw15b, ferrari 312t series, f189, 642, lotus 99t, mclaren mp4/5 mp4/6. renault r25

  • long brabbham bt55 is loooooooooooooooooooooooong

  • The 1990 McLaren was beautiful, specially with the read diffuser. Jordan 191 is a very good choice, good looking and very effective on high speed corners like SPA. A good list, I would add the Ligier Js11/15 of 79 80.

  • switch number 2 to number 1 and leave out all the rest...

  • Lotus 79: the best looking car ever indeed. I pray everyday to Chapman to enlighten the F1 minds and bring back the ground effect

  • MP4/4!

  • I would put the Brabham BT52 on #1 and the Mclaren MP4 on close 2nd...

  • Dan Gurneys Eagle-Weslake F1 car was stunning.

  • @TheMelodyman BULLS-EYE!!!

  • jordan 191 - Sleek, Sexy and Irish... #1

  • jordan 191 - Sleek, Sexy and Irish... #1

  • My family races and we have a few Lotus 49's they are a nice car.

  • If I had to choose it would be a series of four, the 80's Brabham BT52 to BT55 models.

  • Lotus 49! oh yeah!!!

  • for me the f1 best looking car of all times is the ferrari 312t

  • great vid love the 7 up sponsored car

  • that jordan 191 is great. i saw it on the hockenheim historic this year so a few days ago and it was one of my favorite cars in the boss GP it sounds fantastic ! i will upload some videos of the car later this month

  • YOU FORGOTTEN THE 91' McLAREN/HONDA

  • @MrRoadkillergtr In my mind the '91 McLaren was based largely on the 1990 Ferrari, which was an ugly car...It was successful and competative though...at least at the beginning of that season

  • Brabham BT52 and Lotus 97T are my all time faves.

  • Senna's MP4/8 FOR THE WIN!!!!!

  • um excuse i like all of those but where is the freaking Mclaren MP4/8 of 1993 driven by senna cause andretti cant drive an F1

  • @ayrtonsenna2798 As below. I consider the '93 McLaren an attempted copy of the 92 Williams...albeit with a Ford engine. Senna wouldn't sign a 1 year deal with McLaren because he knew before the season that he had a vastly inferior car and no hope of a championship...he turned up race by race though. For a man to win 5 races in that thing...well, I don't think we've seen anything like it since to be honest. Has Ford or Cosworth been as successful in one driver's hands since??

  • @purchville schumacher became world champion with a ford engine in 1994 (waiting for hate comments)...

  • My #1 will either be the ground effect Lotus 78 or this 79. I think Ferrari 312T3 (as seen at 4:12 behind the Wolf WR1) should be in Top10. Your #2 was not total cool until its batmobile version at 7:41 was shown. Williams FW07 is also one of my favorites and Top10 choices. Checking out the Tamiya model catalogue will give you some good ideas of what a beautiful F1 car should look like. So sad that the era of F1 cars coming in all different shapes is long gone. They all look the same now.

  • @YouTellytuber

Are you insane Lotus 79 were the the best looking F1 car and the best in it´s time! And that Ronnie Petersson sat in the cockpit didn´t make things any worse;)

  • @gaisarbast You got give credit to Lotus 79's predecessor Lotus 78 for being the first "Ground Effect" car that helped Lotus to steal the show from those big boys with V12 engines with a generic V8 Ford Cosworth..

  • Nice choices. Very personal to each fan.

My own favourite was 1990 Ferrari. A thing of absolute beauty.

  • I would add the Williams FW14 as well

  • Brabham BT49, fantastic looking car

  • RB5

  • My favorite formula 1 car is the shadow dn5

  • Ебати тъпия Джордан191 на второ място.

  • It's very hard to pick argue with your selections. Very well done. I think these are best of all ages, not just 50-91.

  • The best is the Ferrari 412 T2 from 1994..

  • Excellent selection. I would also have put the 79 as the best, by a country mile. The Jordan was also amazing and I had the privilege of being there when the car was unveiled: my eyes nearly popped out.

Brave selection with the Rial: good choice- it was a good example of how F1 was using a lot of design technology from F3000 and visa-versa.

And the Wolf was also brilliant looking, overall, excellent presentation.

  • @kenswe Thanks for the comments. It's good to have positive feedback having put some time, effort and thought into the video. Yes F3000 was the cause of lots of 'sexy' F1 cars in the late 80's. From todays cars I find them very sameish...though I do like the new McLaren's sidepods...but it has to be the (Lotus) Renault for me, minus the red bits..

  • I loved the Leyton House and the 7up Jordan when I was younger. I agree with all the cars you have here for that period.

My fav car ever (I know its after 1991) was the 1995 Ferrari V12. Just Beautiful.

    Great Video though, well done!

  • man, you should see the Tyrrell-Honda 020, the looking is better than Tyrrell 019

  • I think, you used some pic of Leyton House CG911 ^^

  • I love this video. Nice how it isn't just a slideshow, but has actual video footage of these racing machines. And the music in the background was well selected. Very well put together man...

  • Lotus 72 in black and gold is the tops for me. The 76 was a looker too, if not very good as a race car ( bit ahead of its time really)

  • i'd love the lotus with jps.. it was beautiful.

  • 156/85 ????

  • @69sulmona I preferred the 126C4 of 1984 personally...as I say it's a personal appreciation, not a be all and end all, just opinion

  • WTF Leyton House!!???Are you serious???

  • @Playster3 yes....others here agree with me too :)

  • @purchville That´s just crazy dude!

  • @purchville I agree the Leyton House is nice. I happen to like the CG911, the successor, even better. Same nice proportions but a little cleaner design.

  • best car for me is jordan ej 15 and then bmw sauber 2009

  • Lotus 97T just like 53X on wheels....

  • Id swap the Rial ARC-1 of 1988 for the Rial ARC-2 of 1989. Great list though.

  • good list, hate to be a nitpick though: 3:54 is not a 49 :)

  • you're missing the honda from 2008

  • @ossusman do I have to say it again???> duhh...I said 1950-1991 at the start of the video

  • Im suprised the 98 mclaren wasnt on there! or the 2001 jaguar r1! for me though any of the black and gold JPS lotus wins it. i hope lotus reintroduce that livery next season.

  • @TheShepster80 and a BIG duhh to you too...I said 1950-1991 at the start of the video

  • @purchville I take it you've lost touch with f1 since 91! guess what! it still exists and great looking cars have existed since then too!!!!! DUHH

  • Tyrell 019 is so slick and clean no paste on bits or Vortex generators of linear flow directional inducers nor a eddy damper in sight great video would loke some engine notes with the vid

  • What about the Williams 1992 and 1995???? and the 1993 Benetton???

  • @TheMazaro those years were when cars started to get ugly IMO

  • @TheMazaro duhh...I said 1950-1991 at the start of the video

  • I think the Ferrari 312T4(B) was a great car. But a great car don't make a champion

  • @RedhotIta1 yeah it does look at vettel :S

  • what about the 1998 Mclaren mp4-13

  • Thanks for the great compilation. I think I agree with you're #1 (was that Andretti?), but I would have rated the BT52 higher and included the Tyrrell P34, because it was so unique! :)

  • Good list, I would have put the Brabham BT52 top.

  • Cool...nice pics, nice vids. Lots of wing cars cars in your list.

Not too many cars from 50's or 60's. Also, some nice cars from 80-82 seasons.

    Talbot T-26, Maserati 4CLT, Honda RA 273, Ferrari 158, BRM P261, BRP 1, Brabham BT20, Matra MS80, Eagle Weslake...Arrows A3, on and on...so many nice cars.

  • McLaren MP4/4 what a useless roll bar.

  • best is brabham bt52!

  • also march 711 just because its unique

  • 1992? 1996 jordan cars were great

also the one with the snake design in 2000??

  • 1950-1991 F1 cars

  • @T1carus duhh...I said 1950-1991 at the start of the video

  • ok,lotus 72 jps,lotus 79,lotus 91,lotus 97t,98t,lotus 107 in plane green.jordan 191one of the best ever,benetton b186,williams fw14 shape,fw 7,brabham bt49

  • No1 = Wiliams FW14B :)

  • purchville - I think you should ask a lot of formula one fans who saw that car race, how nice it looked. It seems your choice is different to a lot of others. The Rial was one of the plainest cars of the 80s lol.

  • @weallfollowmanutd I am a Formula One fan myself, and in my mind it was the nicest looking of that year (even Murray Walker said so!)..I saw it in Adelaide...and I forgive the dirty design at the back (for the times) given the pretty nose and the low profile side pods..just my opinion...

  • Great choice. Nice footage. Not only photos, also videos. Strongly support your opinion concerning most of the cars. The Jordan 191 and the Brabham BT 55 are amazing. My favourite best looking car ist the Alfa Romeo 184t from 1984. The green and red Benetton design combined with the nice shape of the car is breathtaking.

  • Lotus 25 people ....

    Lotus 25

  • Ferrari F310B, Benetton B192 & B195, and Ligier JS41 & Footwork FA13 Mugen Hondas are also nice looking F1 cars.

  • Good list, but how the hell have you missed the Ferrari F189?

  • You are kidding aren't you?

That's one of the ugliest Ferrraris ever IMO.

    Gordon Murray is a GOD

  • The Jordon 191 is the best looking of the cars here, IMO, though the sharknose Ferrari comes close.

There's nothing unsightly about this car. Compact and beautiful lines throughout.

  • Meant GORDON MURRY not walker! Murry's designs were extemely eleganet and flowwing - Alfas ,Brahbam 83-87, McLaren87-91 and of course the McLaren F1 road car aswell.

  • Beautiful cars, Walker's Brabam best winged car, Ferrari shark nose bes t non - winged. Which is better? Well which is better Jaguar E-Type(1965) or Lambogihini Countach (1985) Each will have it's followers, I can see great design in each. I even like the modern F1 designs. ALL brilliant cars!

  • AND NUMBER 1 IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the same god damn car as all the other top 10 lists, ok its a nice looking car but by far not the nicest

  • @Dannzt so put your cock on the block and tell us yours then! lmao!

  • where is the Ferrari 126 c2!!! I can't believe it has not made the list. I would argue it is the most beautiful f1 car of all time, it deserves to be in this list above some of the others

  • @scoregoals It almost makes my list..I like it too - one of the prettiest ferraris ever IMO

  • Excellent choices. I agree the Lotus 79 should be first.

I also like the Maserati 250F, the Ferrari 312T4 (Enzo Ferrari himself thought it was the ugliest Ferrari ever), the Eagle-Weslake.

Of the modern cars I still believe the 2000 McLaren-Mercedes MP4/15 is the best looking.

  • agreed on the MP4/15

also the Ferrari from 2002 was quite pretty

  • I think you missed it on the Rial, but I like all your other choices. One error. On the Leyton House CG901, you first show a March CG911, the a CG891, but you are within a one year range, so given they all had the same colour scheme, you were close!

  • @ryturria01 point taken...footage was difficult to get (time consuming)

  • Good work.

Thank you for the number 1(Lotus 79)

  • Senna´s black Lotus is the most beautiful of all times for me...but I like them all. The leyton house was awesome as well as the braham and I would include 1976 Peterson´s Lotus and 1979 Ligier

    nice video!

  • nice video is the lotus(#10) the one with active suspension?

  • The one you are thinking of is the Lotus 99T of 1987 (driven by Senna and Nakajima) - the first Lotus with a Honda engine and yellow livery. It was the first F1 car with electronic "active" suspension and scored wins in consecutive races on the streets of Monaco and Detroit.

  • Some fantastic photos and footage there mate! I must agree, these cars are simply beautiful. Nice work on the video too, well done. (Pep)
