  • The New Movie tha tcame out in 2009 was Cute. but once again it was a Loving Tribute to the Original Series.

  • Comment removed

  • If giacomo is the composer for the next one, this wouldn't be his work. Doesn't fit his style.

  • i love tng forever

  • i've said it before, and i'll say it again......this has to be the theme for Star Trek 12 :-)

  • First contact the best so far

  • @AIRANORAK in 1996 star trek was on the top of its popularity. i was 11 years back then en those days will never come back!

  • @dens85 that was back when we had TNG wrapping up, DS9 in full swing, and Voyager starting. Oh, those were the days :)

  • @AIRANORAK I am a rarity because First Contact alienated me from Star Trek (later, Enterprise show and Nemesis movie only made things worse, as far as I am concerned). The new movie in 2009 FINALLY got me interested in Trek again.

  • "Space, The Final Frontier, These are the Voyages...........

  • Without a doubt, this should be used as the main theme for Star Trek 12 (scheduled for a 2012 release).

Tell me, where did you find this version of the Original Series theme?

  • @MrPJC101 They Need to make a series based off of the New Movie!

  • @lgmmrm "I agree totally. A series with the new cast would (in my opinion) give Star Trek TV shows back some dignity (after the boring 'Enterprise' series).

a series should be green lit after the sequel to the 2009 movie has been released.

  • thats not the theme

  • A great theme for a great film-each Star Trek story should be enjoyed on it's own merits of course,we all have our own favourites-but that is all they are, just stories.

  • Vulcan can and Will be restiored. I took enough College Level Physics while at University to figure it out. I passed advanced Algebra/Adv. Trigonometry and i even passed Statistics which to this day boggles me. It was so hard and confusing my Math Tutor who had a M.A. in Advanced Mathematics was Confused and Stumped as well. He was like Einstein. Stat was like the Kobayashi Maru of College Classes

    .

  • The Original Series was and is Real Star Trek. The lack of Money in the 1960s forced the writers to create stories that made sense that also had something in common with the Experiences of we Humans here on Earth.

Next Gen had an occassional good story now and then. But, on the Overall the show Sucked. It was all Mostly Talk, Dull, No action. No real Danger to make Picard really show what he can do. No Real, Drama and No Fun. Mostly Dull . It was like Masterpiece Theatre weekly in Space.

  • @Roadracer987654321 If it would change your mind may I recommend. Best of Both worlds, Decent, Times Arrow, Starship mine, Ethics, Cause and effect, Q Who, The final mission, as well as a personal favorite and an episode that won a Hugo Award, the Inner light, considered by fans to be one of Picard's best episodes by far. But these are only my opinion, TNG had a lot going for it in the middle of it's run, the start was too TOS and the ending was far weaker and lacking strength.

  • I thinnk that the Movie isn´t bad, the only things that annoys me, are the Reflections every time and i had the feeling that the movie isn´t going about 2 or 1 and a half hour.

  • @Janixos I'm having trouble understanding what you've said here...

  • @staypuft305 I think he's talking about excessive lens-flare effect and something about the running time of the movie.

    I think.

  • These people critisizing the new movie obviously never saw the original series.

Apparently they don't remember spock dressed as a roman gladiator, a nazi or playing music with a hippie band. They also never saw kirk's make out scenes with every female guest star and tiny outfits they wore.

  • @HBOGART99 i grown up with the old series (i remember the episode with the two kirk, or the episode of the fight between JTKirk and Spock on vulcano)... but i think that the Abram's movie is a very good movie (if you look alone -i mean not compared to the series-), but also a great star trek movie.. not the best one (i still prefer generations, first contact and ) but one of the best....

Long Life & Prospery to everyone!

  • @HBOGART99 There comes a time in everyone's life when one must wake up and realise ... fan boys suck.

  • @HBOGART99 I actually remember this android lady, Andrea, from the Original Series' episode "What are Little Girls Made Of", wearing such hot and skimpy clothing that I was astounded!

  • @HBOGART99 I couldn't agree with you more. How often do they say "you can't do that on Star Trek," and yet you go back to Star Trek, and guess what? How they are not suppose to act like that, look back, and guess what?

  • @HBOGART99

Sorry, but I think most of the critisizers saw EVERY film and TOS, TNG, Voyager and DS9 (although I didnt liked the last one), like I did. And in my opinion "ST" 11 is leaking of all the Star Trek Spirit. I know why. JJ Adams said, that he never saw any Star Trek movie and he wasnt interested in. He only made a science fiction action movie like all the other movies he made. ST 11 may be a normal 'quality' action movie with some humour. But it is a standalone film.

  • @tausendstein And because it is stand alone is why it was so good because you don't need that reliance of knowing every single Star Trek to understand it.

Many say this Star Trek is dumb down, but is it? Is it dumb down to make it simpler for others to understand Star Trek? Or is it more accurate to say that this Star Trek actually follows Star Trek without needing a hand as to how to follow?

  • @tausendstein Oh, and the funny thing, even those who support the movie saw EVERY film and TOS, TNG, Voyager and DS9 like I did. Plus Enterprise. And if you ask me, Star Trek has been leaking ever since Gene Roddenberry's death, and JJ Abrams found the leak and plugged it up.

While this is not your father's Star Trek, it feels like it. Or more specific, you don't need to know this is Star Trek outside of the names Kirk, Spock and Enterprise. What makes Star Trek what it is is here.

  • @HBOGART99

And I forgot: With ST 10 "Nemesis" the Star Trek film series ended for me ... (until there will be a real successor of it).

  • @HBOGART99 The original series in comparison to The Next Generation is like comparing... I can't even... there is no comparison.

  • @Bloodshot021 The Next Generation was a Lame,Lame,Lame,Lame Duck......

  • @Bloodshot021 TOS is Forever Trek... TNG was a Replacement product to keep the customer Happy to a Limited Degree until the Main Cash maker arrived at the Moviehouses every 2 1/2 years.

When it came time to Cough up the Goods, The Next Generation couldn't do it. which is why it was a Syndicated product.

  • No see ur wachng the avgn reviews and ur just saying wat he said to look like u have the same ideas. Star Trek 09 was a great film and definayley as good as wrath of khan in my opion. And yes kirk was a recless youth u need to get ur own oppion

  • Kirk does drink, and sometimes to the point of being piss drunk. He drinks whiskey, Saruian brandy, even Romulan Ale. Scotty on the episode Turnabout Intruder said that he's seen Kirk drunk before.

    Disproven.

  • Alternate timeline. Different Kirk. Maybe you should have paid attention.

  • This new Uplifting,Updated and Faster Paced Version of the Original series theme from 1964/1965 should be used as the Principle theme for the next Blockbuster Feature.

  • Thats not the new movie theme!

  • im sick of all these stark trek fanatics that cant wrap their mind over different possible timelines. and sondano if you read my reply sry bout that i sounded a bit to rude there.

  • @farathdrow it's not the different timeline in and of itself it's that the new timeline SUCKS a Star Trek timeline where Spock and Uhura does that of all things where Vulcan doesn't exists where Scotty is a clown where Kirk looks like a member of Boyzone etc. is NOT Star Trek it's some trendy cheap bullshit where the pretty faces are just as ridiculous as the SFX overload and the neurotic cinematography

  • Those "fanatics" are even quit hypocrites, since they invent new series of their own (aka fan series).

  • ITA and the stupid part is they accept alternate realities such as the mirror universe but not this one JJ created, it is beyound lame.

  • In all fairness, there's a difference between the mirror universe and going back in time--along our time line, in our universe--and changing events. Even if that merely created a splinter alternate reality, Romulus (and presumably all but a few Romulans) was destroyed in the "main" branch of history known to us. Overall it wasn't a bad film (it was a bit too fast-paced, like an action film, and the guy in charge of lighting should've been fired, but as a fan I enjoyed it) but where to from here?

  • @GradStud28 For a better idea of the splintered time line theory, watch Doc Browns rant in Back to the future 2. If you imagine a 45 degree line exiting at the point nero showed up in the time line, we can call this the splinter, or divergence, the line would then follow its own progression.

But time isn't strictly linear in most respects, from a non-subjective viewpoint its more of a ball of wibbly wobbly time-y wime-y....stuff.

  • good music. But it's not from the Star Trek XI

  • She looks Tall and Proud. Just like her Original Television Counterpart. She IS the Enterprise......

  • at 0:08 he sees her sitting on the Ground Nearing Completion. She is Waiting for Her True Captain to guide her on her way Where No man Has Gone Before...

  • An Awesome Positive Uplifting Theme that pays Tribute to the Original Series Theme and reminds us that this is STAR TREK, wher the impossible happens. Not next Generation. Not Deep Space Nine or Next Generation.

This Theme is Just perfect for Star Tre k12.

  • you put next generation two times dude.

  • FAKE

  • umm this is f-ing awesome!! I would pay for this!!!

  • OH SHUT UP!>:(

  • And this one ISN'T in XI's soundtrack

  • Oh, I agree. Star Trek IV is, I believe, the worst Star Trek score ever created. Actually nice music-- but NOT for a Star Trek movie, it just didn't match.

  • Yeah, it sounds to much like the music for "The Lord of the Rings" (The Ralph Baksi animated version).

  • your right it doesn't fit it but i still liked the music

  • good graphics in the new film. and thats all i can compliment it for. FIRST CONTACT FTW!

  • I don't know about you all, but I think it's nice.

  • Hey Chris! And yes, I agree with you, it is nice.

  • wtf this isent it ?

  • They ruined all film. Nobody wants alt reality where Vulcan doesn´t exist. Even interface of the ship is a LOT more different then the original.

  • it wasn't supposed to follow in footsteps everyone makes mistakes XD

and does it reallly matter what they do its supposed to be epic XD

trust me when they did nemesis and first contact they messed up number of decks :P

  • I admit that nemesis wasn´t good. But first contact was great.

  • @somachr Nemesis was a LOT better than Insurrection.

  • @somachr Why did you think First Contact was watchable? Just curious.

  • GOD EXACTLY!!!! The movie ruined the original series for me! I like to pretend that none of this happened.

  • Well, fortunately, since Star Trek is and always has been fictional, none of it did!

  • haha, yeah. Good point!

  • You don't have to, for I believe that this new movie takes place in an alternate timeline. :)

Although, I did like the movie. Some of the music wasn't the best, but I liked the opening and main themes.

  • Yeah, that's feasible. An alternate timeline. But it feels like the filmmakers went back into the past and changed the original timeline. So I am just going to assume this happened in an alternate universe (like the Mirror, Mirror episode of the original series) or not at all.

  • It's funny. You're one of the very few that think this way. At least, in comparison to those who enjoyed the movie.

I know my father, who used to watch the original when he was younger, absolutely loved it.

  • you realize that in the movie plot things are supposed to be different because nero went back in time

  • hm yeah the "different" Spock just happens to like saying fascinating just happens to have the conflict between his human and vulcan self pretty much like the original Spock but we are supposed to believe that he would randomly make it out with Uhura OK so I ask why would Nero's impact change Spock in that regard? Can it be that because today's sloppy audience just likes a little random hanky panky even if it doesn't make sense?

  • @sondano you actually said 'hanky panky'.

  • @sondano

Man your boring, if you dont like the film dont watch it.

I left the cinema blown away by the amazing new Star Trek film, the new film has made new fans and appreciation to the original Star Trek series'!

Everyone else seemed to love the film, so quit whining.

  • everyone else who love nonsensical plots cliched hollywood faces bullshit dialogues pointless kissing scenes listless character development and ADD editing and cinematography That covers about 85% of moviegoers nowadays I know. As for this crapfest making new TOS fans sure that's why they started the whole thing with an ad: it's not your father's Star Trek.

  • Would you like some cheese with that whine?

  • Yes and the bullshit dialogue includes how Spock was able to say "up yours" while outdoing the intellect and arguments of full Vulcans.

Especially since the plot was simple and made a tonne of sense, but it appears that its straight forward plot seemed to be too smart for some, and they got mesmerized by the explosions.

  • Oh yeah, the story had shiny explosions and stuff blew up. I also loved seeing one tree hill in space.

  • The romance between Spock and Uhura can stem all the way back to the original series from the episode "The Man Trap." Uhura was trying to strike up conversation with Spock which included a romantic vision of walking under a Vulcan moon.

Which of course Spock replied, "Vulcan has no moon."

The writers did their homework, you didn't.

  • dude relax. thats exactly it. its an alternate reality. a timeline seperate from the original. god listen to what they say..

  • And I wonder why those qualities were mutated and not others? Why isn't Spock less smart in this timeline? Or less strong? Or why doesn't he had a different haircut for that matter? You know new timeline new taste. Could be. But no he just happens to be much more aggressive and much more sensual. Come on it's way too transparent. They changed those specific attributes because they know the plebs fall for more aggressivity and more sex. It's just the sign of our time and it sucks.

  • They ruined the theme.

  • this isn't really the theme you know.

  • This was played during the end credits.

  • the new star trek movie is a credit to the original cast excellent

  • nice try but ST IV soundtrack doesn't fit in well with ST XI.

  • This is a fake, thou it's a nice fake x)...

  • Fake! - Saw the movie - Never heard anything like this.

  • anybody knows where the REAL main theme is? (youtube)

  • surprising this was a good star trek movie.

  • >:( This was NOT in the movie. Stop posting bs like this.

  • sorry idiot its not in the movie, this is hollywood studio players crap you find on those old sam goody excelsior cd's for 5.00 in the clearence bin

  • Giacchinos ACTUAL arrangement(which this NOT) of the classic alexander courage theme is much more orchestral than this synthysised crap you have here.

  • this is not from the film, i have seen the film and this music is not from the movie.

  • thank Q!

  • yeah i dont know why people think they are cool, posting crap like this, trying to seem as if they are posting some really cool exclusive leaked recording.

  • I've ACTUALLY seen the movie and this IS in. Its at the end when crisis is averted and the crew set off on there journy.

  • U have got to be kiding me this track is not in the movie, this is some bs hollywood studio players fake crap.

the first part of the cue in this music is the star trek generations oveture, then it goes into hollywood studio players lame azz version of the trek theme.

the actual orchastration done by giacchino for the film ( heard on the soundtrack and over the credits) is much fuller, organic and robust, not some crap that sounds like it was synthesized on a 6 yr olds casio keyboad.

  • As this video was added November of '08, this could very well be a cue for the movie that they chose not to use. A composer usually has about 2-3 weeks to compose all the cues, orchestrate them (usually someone else), and record them if money allows. As a composer, I know this to be a sound library. Though, I do hear some MIDI sounds mixed in...

  • sorry but this was anever a part of the score, this was performed by the the hollywood studio players and has been availble on cd for several years now.

listen to the cues it opens with the generations oveture then seques. this was not a temp track used for the film.

  • Cool, I just like to keep an open mind about things. Unless it's this exact song used on cd several years ago, it's possible, and highly plausible, for a composer to make a suite of previous scores to blend in the new stuff. I'm neutral on the matter, but I am against false accusations. Based on the manner you presented your facts, in your previous comment, I assumed that you didn't know what you were talking about. This past comment was much more pleasing to read.

  • yeah that's what i thought too but no, its similar but not the same song.

  • PACIFICA2009, what is Giacchino's score like? It would be great to hope that his score is in a similar class to the first six ST movies. Even as a huge Goldsmith fan I wasn't happy with the musical approach for the ST TNG movies: too low key.

  • It has small hints of the original Star Trek theme, uses most of the same instruments, and did an overall GREAT job. I've never heard of the guy, but want to hear more of his work after seeing/hearing this movie earlier today.

  • not bad at all, i like it

although First contact theme owns all

  • HOW DID U GOT IT

  • This could work but not for the scenes that are shown here.

  • a (if you'll pardon the word) logical choice

  • There is no hook

  • Sounds more like a tribute than a theme. A good tribute...but wouldn't work as a theme.

  • Actually, this theme was created Mike Verta, who is not associated with the film. There's an article on TrekMovie if you're at all interesting reading up about it.
