I was playing around with your tutorial and discovered that If you copy the original imported image (the text with the transparent background) to the Combine node's middle ("Bottom") input, it makes the background of the final texture transparent.

Thanks for the tute. I have Filter Forge, and I just noticed Genetica is on sale. I don't know whether to get it or not.

I bought Filter Forge Pro and then discovered Genetica. Genetica's ability to create animated textures (Studio version only) made it too irresistible for me to pass up. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend that you get Genetica Studio edition.
