  • Utterly enchanting.....but then that's stating the obvious. thanks

  • This is a masterpiece!!!

  • don't understand why people say beethoven's music is more emotional than mozart's, anyone who listen's to this have to agree they are at least equal or more emotional. only mozart's music can make me shed a tear no matter how many times i listen to it.

  • im 15 and my generation has the crappiest music ever. listening to this is like watching a never ending sunset; it just fills me up with so much emotion I can't even describe it. I wish music like this could be appreciated so much more by people today...

Amadeus.

  • are there AMADEUS film????

  • Mozart, you and your music are genius.

...and I've seen "Marriage of Figaro" at least six times. I'll never stop loving it. : )

  • i should think Mozart was in deep trance when composing this, totally out of this world. so angelic.

  • i get chills everytime i hear this piece. brilliant!

  • Maybe Mozart's music is not as complicated created as Bachs or others, but this part here proofes, that he is truly the greatest composer the world has ever seen.

  • Who is the Count?

  • What an ending! I would love to have been there in the audience.

  • just too many notes

  • @TheGodBacchus haha nice reference

  • Like god is singing directly to the world.

  • Life should come with a button you could press to play this melody when you are apologizing: you would be always forgiven.

  • @esculapio69 haha sounds good.

  • The most Beautiful movement i have heard that makes mozart a good composer. the way he composed the lyrics with the music. mozart a genius

  • There is Mozart. Then there is everyone else. Beethoven Who? Mozart, the master at every genre of music of his time and died at 35. What more proof does anyone need? The beauty. The Genius is right in front of you.

  • Here, to start listening and to start to cry is the very same thing... This is the real forgiveness we all hope to find after death. Thanks Mozart, my devoted friend.

  • Beyond Gorgeous - as is any piece from Mozart!!! This is an exquisite performance!

  • sublime

  • Theres Wolfie & then everybody else

  • so touching couldn´t hold my tears, heart breaking forgiveness

  • wonderful breath control. Kids today do not have a clue about music and singing.

  • "Contessa , perdono" is something that everyone should hear. It would make anyone who has never heard opera want to listen to more. Simply beautiful.

  • @49bobbyk Hi. I know. When I was 11, I was introduced to Mozart through the movie Amadeus. From that point on, I've always had a profound love for opera and classical music in general. Mozart is a great way to introduce anyone to opera. His music is always great and - to this day - remains as my favorite composer 26 years later. His music has such depth, color and character; and one can always feel the emotions. It's simply astounding and makes the heart stir!!! Happy Holidays! > :-)

  • @TheSupernova247 ..I have a similar story. I have a deeper understanding of Mozart probably greater then most classical enthusiasts and it started with the Movie Amadeus. Beethoven admired Mozart. Mozart has a masterpiece in every genre of music..Thats good enough for me to say he was the best.

  • mozart, thank you for successfully making both my parents cry.

  • Contessa looks like Veselina Kasarova:)

  • ive got goosebumps listening to this :) i dont think there was ever a more beuatiful scene in opera and the music is utterly spellbinding!!

  • i agree! nothing can be more beautiful.

  • @KOBEISSIMEDIA He also had tourettes. He swore at the king.

  • @MrVersipellis maybe it wasn't tourettes - that was just his excuse lol!!!

  • @katieboyd1 He was just that cool.

  • Mozart the Humanist, he composed The Final Aria of Le Nozze Di Figaro about The Forgiveness and as A.Pope said :"To err is human, to forgive divine."

Mozart was definitly the voice of God.

  • nothing can be more beautiful

  • E' forse posssibile avere parole?

is it possible having Words enough?

  • Go to Wikipedia, "Le nozze di Figaro". Et the end of the item, you'll find a link to the libretto.

  • This is what forgiveness sounds like.

  • Have you noticed; Cherubino is always played by a woman.

  • @Steroid0Strad I think we're all well aware of that, yes.

  • if you look at the score, a soprano or female alto (depending on arrangement) is needed to play that part

  • @abcdefghijcatsrule Mezzo-Soprano, I believe.

  • its been a while since i looked at a copy of the score, so i cant quite remember, but your probably right

  • @abcdefghijcatsrule sure!
  • if there's a god in heaven, i hope he give Mozart the opportunity to see, how his music deeply moves and impress people and how grateful people are for his genius. Come on old man: let him see.

  • wow

  • and you tried to sing?

  • To think in the context of forgiveness that poor Salieri has been ostracised literally for CENTURIES for the alleged poisoning that never took place...

  • There are only two pieces to ever make me full on cry. It is this one, and the second movement of Beethoven's Emperor piano concerto.

"Contessa perdono"... there's a piece for the whole human race. I don't think there is anything more beautiful than forgiveness.

  • Unique

  • This is forgiveness for everybody.

  • the more i listen to mozart the more i am sure their we never be his equal he had a gift that come from i cannot say his work move me in ways out work do-not ,i still love listeing to handel . . . .

  • ...my favourite edition!!! I watched it a thousand times...

Thanks for posting, grazie Mozart...

  • So beautiful in the seemlingless simplicity. Oh Mozart - I cannot imagine the world without you - thank you!

  • I have watched this for many months. Not since "Amadeus" have I seen a more beautiful production. The absolute in forgiveness.

  • Absolutely fantastic !

  • Absolute beauty.

  • who are the two singers at the beginning.

  • Rodney Gilfry and Hillevi Martinpelto

  • i'm convinced these people work for the kleenex corporation

  • In all truth, this comment made me chuckle in the midst of tears. I completely agree with you.

  • It moves my eyes to tears...it's...it's...magical...:' ) I'm crying and I can't stop it...

  • Comment removed

  • May God make every performance of Figaro this beautiful so that the world will know how perfectly it was written. Bravo maestro Gardner and director Mille. And Bravo to the most appropriate cast ever assembled.

  • Romantic! I love how the man kneels down in front of the woman (his wife) *Melts*

  • right. i may fancy the guy in the silver jacket.. and i love the saluting at 3:09

  • Every time I listen to this my heart beats a lot faster. I pray God to have this feeling of sweatness and... (something I can't describe) even only for once in my life.

    Grazie Mozart.

  • Great performance, wunderful piece of music and culture. Love to listen to it.

Too bad the whole play is 3,5h long which makes it very, very difficult to the untrained ear to listen. I can't focus that long.

I guess i know why Mozart saved this cherry as the operas finale.

  • It could also be 5 h long, but mozart's music put in pause the passing of the time...and I can only cry listening to it!

  • Mozart....the voice of God. Grazie Mozart

  • C'est beau, c'est beau, c'est beau!

  • The words are too poor to describe this. Absolutely brilliant.

  • there are only a handful of people in the world and in history who can tell a story through music alone, and Mozart is one of those people. I myself do not know Italian, but I can follow the story just as well as if I had been speaking the language all my life.

  • What would extraterrestrians would value most if they came to visit earth?

Not gold, the universe is full of it everywhere.

Instead, they would even give mankind their planet to listen to Mozart

  • Mozart is God

  • this is the best figaro there ever was

  • Wonderful! 5*

  • this is a slower pace than the version in Amadeus .... which version is closest to how mozart intended? anyone?

  • I can't speak for mozart but Ibelieve this to be the better of the two. It doesn't want to be rushed. with it slower you can enjoy every single much more to it's full value. Hear the piece in it's full beauty as it should be heard.

  • What a nice cherry on the cake, that little scene between the Count and Cherubino :)

  • @ Hillevifan

  • I think you forgot Gundula Janowitz !

  • Absolutely. Beautiful.

  • love it! <3

  • Perfect

  • ...forgive me, too!

    Wolfang forever!!!!

  • This glorious version was recorded in 1993.

It is released on DVD (DG). Just search the web (shopping) for Mozart and Gardiner.

Gardiner has also a stunning performance of Così fan tutte. A feast for both ears and eyes, luckily also released on DVD.

    Best wishes!

  • i'm looking for the lyrics. i can't find it anyehere. can someone post them?

  • Conte: Contessa, perdono!

  • grazie mille

  • Maravilloso!

  • io penso che questo aria é la piu bella della monde... sorry for my bad italian

  • Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL... thanks for posting.

    :)

  • La più bella opera mai scritta!

  • Le mie nozze preferite!

  • So perfect, I didn't want to breathe. Bravi.

  • this one moment in the whole opera never ceases to move me to tears

  • Hillevi Martinpleto is one of THE best countesses ever (along with Veronique Gens, Kiri Te Kanawa, and Jayne West.)

  • And she is one of the kindest and nicest persons (along with Bernarda Fink) I have met in my life...
