first thing I thought...how are they going to cool all that, I didn't see any cooling equipment, I see it's a large open air space but still I think it's not enough.

And what kind of equipment are the first and last few racks....cisco blades?

That looks like SAN storage at either end! VMWare is all about Centralised Storage so I guess that would be a big part of the design. Just a guess!
