@derfuher00 everyone uses the AK because it's cheap and numerous. It's due to the cold war in which soviet and chinese policy was if a country was communist, or a group was trying to place communism as the new government policy in a country, these rifles would be turned out like they were nothing. Not to mention they are simple to train with and take care of. All you need to clean the barrel is some grease or oil and some shoe string to grab excess dirt out of the barrel. The sights are

@FallenAquila simple with the only adjustment being the front post height and the elevate slot on the rear sight, the ergonomics are simple, the mag is latched by the back, the whole bolt is pulled by a singe handle, and you move a slide for semi or auto. That sounded confusing to me so let me rephrase it.

The Magpul Masada (this) was sold to Bushmaster where they made a few changes and are now deploying them overseas.

Magpul Massoud fires 7.62x51.

Standard configuration is 5.56 NATO, and I can guarentee that it converts to 6.8 REM and 7.62 Soviet. (x39)

There was some talk about it getting a lower receiver and barrel config for 7.62 NATO (x51), but I don't know if they completed that yet.

What? This isn't a video game, the M16 and the M4 are extremely flawed and not really good enough for our soldiers. It jams quite a bit and it is restricted to 5.56 which alot of times does not kill. (Many soldiers report firing one NATO round into someone's chest and having the enemy look at him, get VERY furious, and fire back.) This can easily be converted to 7.62x28, the round used by the AK 47. This is real life kiddo, not Xbox 360. Go back to COD4, sport.

I've wondered the same thing until I found out how so much stock was invested into Colt industries. The army is not going to switch over anytime soon with their m16's/m4's. We could have better equiptment for our soldiers but Colt is so damn greedy. Also we would never issue Ak's to our troops just because its simply not a american made gun.

Are military needs this weapon more than ever but is now considering buying a new rifle called a HK416 just because the upper part of the gun will save more money than buying a complete weapons system because of budget cuts. The problem is the M16 platform is so popular to military and civilians they can not move on to a newer platform. Over 1000 accessories have been made only for the M16 series, it will be a total waste.

@IMFDB You can not put a HK416 upper on an Armalite based AR15 reciever, they will not line up, the closest thing to an actual piston based upper replacement for the AR is the LWRC M6. Also consider the amount of claims versus the amount of people put down, the chances are so nil of someone getting back up compared to the advantages of the AR with the 5.56. With the right compensator there is almost no muzzle climb, you can fire the AR off your shoulder one handed with a 2 point sling it need be

@FallenAquila you compare this with the based ergonomics and the increase ergonomics of the aftermarket and it becomes a very easy to manipulate platform, you can pull back the bolt carrier from behind versus infront which allows you to see what is in the chamber without having to get your hand out of the way, the forward assist is right where your thumb will naturally be when you load a mag using a beer can grip, the recoil is so light you can easily keep rounds on target at range without

@FallenAquila fighting the recoil, meaning that surpressive fire on the go is ready. And there is variations of the rifle to be able to take almost any ammunition out there. If the military was to truely up the weight, a 7.62x39 would also be terrible, the bullet has HORRIBLE drop, huge recoil, and loses it's tumble speed after 150yrds, reducing the impact shape and cavity size on impact. If they should go up to ANYTHING, it should be the 6.8 SPC.

@FallenAquila I've seen the 416 uppers attached to M4 lowers on video's called "Future Weapons", and "Rifles of the 21st Century". I guess the lower I picked was a lucky pick. Although I'm pretty sure the specs says fits standard AR-15 and M-16 lower receivers. I'll see If I could find a video with a AR-15 lowers, there are definitely some pics on the internet if you could eliminate airsoft.

Beautiful! This is the modular design that every modern battle rifle should have. The aftermarket on this gun is going to be HUGE. My only concern is that the parts look a bit brittle, but that can be fixed easily and I'm sure Magpul and Bushmaster will do so.

Nope. Magpul can't do guns by themselves, so they sold the rights to Bushmaster. Bushmaster is looking to replace the M4 with this thing.. And before that happens none of them will hit the shelves. And before THAT happens, Barack 'The One' Obama will either ban it or tax it to death..

I doubt that they won't sell it just because it isn't military issue. How many sporting rifles are there on the market? Tons. The moment it comes out though, I'm getting one. I can't help but think that Magpul and Bushmaster are going somewhere by releasing a rifle that's only an FCG away from Mil-spec. This thing blows everything else (SCAR, 416/417 and XM8) out of the water.

The ACR (masada's) moulded handguard can be modded to use 1913 rails, otherwise you can use their railed-handguard. Any launcher that fits on 1913 rails will work, xrick5.

I know its being chambered in 6.8 SPC but I havent heard of it in 6.5 Grendel. I dont know how the 6.5 case will work in the STANAG because of its width, probably the main advantage of the 6.8.
