  • @Macheads101 try crossover game ^^

  • HOW DO YOU TURN OFF DOS ON A MAC????????

  • dude i dont understand anything ur saying but can u help me download a game everytime i try to downlaod it it says cannot run in dos mode, how can i get rid of it n play the game?

  • @ThizDudeRiteHere You are trying to download a .exe game for windows. You are on a Mac. You can't do this. If there is no Mac version of the game, you can't run it.

  • @macheads101 can u download windows on mac?

  • in MS-dos 5+ you could actually change the colour ect.. i should know i have the dos 5 manual and a book on programming for dos... however it needed you to add some parameters to autoexec.bat and config.sys and as far as i know dosbox doesn't support those parameters without emulating true dos. it's also important to note that dos is a generic term for a 'disk operating system' there are several (or so) dos os's (pc-dos, MS-dos, DR-dos, ect)... other than that good vid

  • Good video, except we are unable to see what you're typing because the window is so small. I suggest you open the window as large as the youtube video window, which would require you to remove your image in the corner, and we will still be able to hear your voice

  • nerd?????

  • cool :)

  • daas

  • okay so when i download games or trials i get the message saying that it cannot run in DOS mode???? i own a mac is there anyway to get rid of it so i can enjoy my games???????

  • @C0RVETTEBOY It is likely that these games that you download are windows executables. You can only run Mac applications on Mac, not windows applications (easily...)

  • Этот утырок малолетний не знает что такое DOS , Он видел только XP когда родился :)

This young idiot does not know what DOS, He only saw the birth of XP:)

    Sorry for my english)

  • Pick up a free copy of Wolfenstein 3D (it's a very, very small free download now) if you want to see the pinnacle of DOS gaming. That was my first video-game as a kid. I remember my Dad loved killing those Nazis...

  • I put the russian text below into a translator......this is what came out`

``Th chyuvak you steal so much! amerikosov dumb show normally come on! and without you know when it came out! Tupitstsa! ````

  • macs suck.........(insert jokes here)

I'll stick with good ol' windows

  • don't mind haters, you look like a bright guy with the right equipment.

  • чювак че ты так много пиздишь!америкос тупой показывай нормально давай!и без тебя знаем когда он появился!Тупицца!

  • @devill6621 It's fun to use google translate isn't it?

  • Unix FTW!

  • Is it safe to assume that you're an Apple fanboy? No offense.

  • Your a faggot. Kill yourself please

  • DOS - forever!Windows MustDie!

  • Send a special comands for DOS!

  • Being a 15 year old myself, I've found that DOS actually is quite useful as a "modern" operating system. Obviously it sucks for things like internet and office tasks, but it's got some amazing games, and if you take the time to find out how to work it, it can be both useful and powerful. The whole "commands are hard to use" issue is easily solved by writing batch files, and there are other ways of making the operating system work efficiently.

  • There's not much you can do with DOS?! It's an operating system! It did everything, and was more than just a command line interpreter you call "command prompt". Before the DOS generation we used things called typewriters!

  • In all fairness, hat off to the young chap for creating this video that gives the general GUI user an insight to where all their fancy windows, icons etc. evolved from, and in today's DOS, you have a great deal more power with more commands and system controls that the very first DOS lacked, but back then, you didn't need anything fancy, a lot of repair work I do on PC's usually involves me dropping to DOS, it is still one of the most important tools of the trade if you learn it right :)

  • dos stands for DUMB OL SHIT

  • MUAH HA HA HA HAAAA !!!

  • @RobertoEscolero1995 Cmd is a command prompt made to act like dos. What I was using was not CMD, it was a DOS emulator for mac. I am not sure exactly what you mean because you do not know how to use punctuation, but i think i get the drift.

  • @RobertoEscolero1995 Who the heck cares who you are working with, really... if you know more then him just shut up..

  • Dos was released the day I was born. :)

  • @tblake86 Haha that's true considering that I was born in 1996. Even though I wasn't around in their time, I can still appreciate them.

  • @tblake86 idiot, DOS came on the market in 81' as it has been on until 95' after than DOS came with Windows 95', 98' 00, Since you're name says: 86' i'll take that as you're birthday, that means you can't say anything about dos either my friend, around 90/95 you where only 4 to 9 years old. but doing research on the internet can learn you alot, especially when you've got interests for it.

  • @moonmic4 Did you spell everything wrong on purpose? If all those typos weren't intentional, then you should probably not post anything in such a public forum - especially when you don't have anything nice to say. Learn how to spell before you try to belittle someone. This kid has an interest in something and wanted to share; just because he wasn't around when DOS came out doesn't mean he isn't entitled to use it. We can see by your spelling & grammar that you're hardly perfect yourself.

  • @moonmic4 how about getting a sense or humor and stop being a smartass. Obviously the creater didn't take offence so no hard feelings. Ever heard of constructive criticism? I was born after the dos era also, but that point is irrelevant. Besides, Dos didn't really come with windows 95/98/00, it was just an add on, it wasn't a full version, like say of 6.22. Also learn how to use proper grammer. ie, Your vs you're, and it seems like your comment is one big run on sentence.

  • @tblake86 The pyramids were built before I was born but I can talk to you about them. He read about DOS and now he is talking to you about DOS. Do you understand now?

  • @smichael61 Can you really? Tell me about the pyramids then, something besides where they are. Who really constructed them, and in what year? I'm pretty sure that's still up for debate. Review my comment to moonmic4 and learn how to handle some constructive criticism. Do you understand now?

  • Dude, I feel old now thanks! Dos was cool and I think it is amazing how much you know about this software. Life began with Dos...

  • DOS in Kazakh language means FRIEND!!!

  • @TheKazakhguy do u know Borat?

  • Hey punks, stop cracking the young fella. If there was some asian stupid chick you'd write totaly other sorts of comments you twatts. Thanks Heads for sharing, especially the fact that Microsoft made lots of money on it! : )

  • There is a normal Text Editor in DOS. It´s called "edit"

  • ur voice cracked :o

  • @KelliroxxoTV he must be a human! are you scared!?

  • @fuckcomments terrified!!!

  • if you want to try DOS, open the CMD prompt in windows.. DOSBox is not DOS and dont have the fraction of the commands.. or install FreeDOS like I did..

  • Hey macheads101 Im Currently in a A+ Certification Class at my high school and your description on DOS is O-K i understand that your trying to help your viewers here's an example of something a little bit off base "DOS could ownly run like 1 program at a time" DOS could ownly run ONE prossess at a time ONE but altoghter a nice try i complement your effort on this video thanks for uploading :)

  • Hey thats a nice Video on DOS. Everything earlier starts seperate and join the Process So is DOS but MicroSoft got chance and parted with favour of poeple thats it cam with DOS as MSDOS then MSDOS Run WIndows till Windows ME and theirby Dos Prompt For NT Series and to 2000 and XP now its PowerShell for Latest .poeple made MicroSoft to Grew as it is user friendly just that all

  • Well that a nice intro about DOS

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's GLaDOS

  • wow a mac fag talking about dos, you should shoot your self

  • where are you from? lol you say dos funny...like... DAS!! XD

  • Dos I believe also helped standardize typing text biased OSs in a way im not 100% sure. but I from all the old computers I have they have something like Dos, but all them have different commands, that did the same thing like "load ____" and "read ____"

  • apple II used dos. and dos actually stands for Dinosaur Operating System.

  • this doesnt answer my question on using DOS for system format how the effin hell do i get DOS to operate when the booter is gone?!

    :(

  • don't you dare diss dos man! I grew up with DOS, DOS is the shit. There is a ton of good games that were written for the old OS, you may have heard of WOLFENSTEIN, or DOOM, DOS is the roots man, dig it.

But yeah dos does suck, but its a hell of a lot easier to learn then say unix or linux. Although not nearly as powerful

  • true agree,

  • @drgroove101 dos is very powerful

  • Comment removed

  • @drgroove101 Mac is the roots not DOS, Dos is a stolen knock off

  • @drgroove101 DOS beats the hell out of mac anyways

  • dosbox it's for running dos games that can't run on 2000/XP/Vista/Linux/Mac !!

  • That's one purpose.

  • @szabotihamer16 and win 7

  • Can You make a video of "hydra-Commands"??

    This will helpme...

    &

    Nice video ;D

  • I am not sure what hydra is...

  • yes but most of the commands that .bat does in windows will not work.

  • Maybe in a week or two. Python is actually quite difficult if you don't know C so first I will try to get another C lesson in.

  • Upper memory is not something running in the background but was used to get around memory limitations in DOS. By moving something to the Upper Memory Area (extended memory) it leaves more room in conventional memory for applications to run. A command used to do this was LOADHIGH

  • Yes I understand I just didn't now the term upper memory which is why my explanation was poor.

  • No worries. Hope the clarification is useful.

  • One thing I wanna mention is that steve wozniak took DOS and modified it until it became an os named "Apple DOS 3.1"

this OS was used in the Apple II and the Apple III. Then the Macintosh 128k came out with a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and adopted the UNIX base.

    PS: Macheads101 is great!

  • THAT IS SOO COOL! I never knew that thanks for the info man!

  • thanks

  • very informative

    thanks

  • Your welcome.
