duuude i remember seeing the episode of the guy with the oni mask...he uses his sword to measure his are because the red and black stripes make it look like it stretches.... and it was fucking him up, and thats how i found out there were different stances when swordfighting. when i was 8, i felt like a badass after that, holding sticks up in my yard waiting for the next show to come on....so lonely....

@cmdmstudios Actually Samurai X was its title in the US, it was changed from its original japanese name, which is what Toonnami retained "Rurouni Kenshin"

Oh, I completely forgot this was on Toonami, I thought I watched it later on adult swim. I guess back in the day, CN wasn't afraid of showing awesome and violent shows like that, because kids weren't dumb enough to think it was real.

I first heard about this anime from this commercial. Back then I didn't see how someone could possibly avoid killing anyone when their man style of fighting is with a real sword. Then I found out the sword has the blade on the "wrong side" (or as far as Kenshin is concerned, "the right side"), thus allowing kenshin to keep his promise. After hearing him say in another commercial, "If you wish to taste the ground, feel free to attack me." I was bought!

2) if you look and are lucky someone put the episodes on youtube as "Rurouni Kenshin" and another as "samuri X". check it out if they are still on

1) They ARE remaking Rurouni Kenshin, but only the Kyoto arc, and in movie form.

2) Kenshin is on Hulu free and legally under the name Samurai X. Go watch it there. In good quality.

That movie was not written by the series creator, Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was an independent adaptation that he only supervised and DID NOT like. He thought Kenshin "went through so much crap." If you read the manga (which I advise) you will see that he ended the story happily. No more wandering, no abandoning his family, no freaky rashes.
