I actually hate David Bowie unshaven in the Tin Machine era. Of course Tin Machine... I'm not really sure what to make of Tin Machine. He re-acquainted himself with alienating his audience but I do see the alternative rock tinges within it.
I don't really care that the guy went mainstream, I still love his songs during that time despite going mainstream. Jumped the shark? Maybe, and true the Stardust era will always be my favorite, but I love all his other experimentations too.
@Kira666Uchiha I agree, I never noticed any quality drop in his work once he made it big in the 80s. For me, I find something to like about all his albums.
@Kira666Uchiha the only song I absolutely hated by Bowie was his cover of "Dancing in the Street" with Mick Jaggar- it's so f***ing cheesy and ridiculous! Other than that, Bowie is consistent and on point in nearly all of his work.
@spscotto Hard for me to even hate that one, as cheesy as even the original song is, but Bowie's voice is too sexy for me not to swoon over, no matter WHAT he's singing!
@Kira666Uchiha haha, to each their own. For me, it's not even Bowie's fault that the song is so cheesy, I guess it was just written that way. I can't stand it in any form!
@spscotto LOL I performed that song with my entire high school choir. I found the dance moves cheesier than the song itself! I HATED the dance moves! But it was still fun to do nonetheless.
No D David played 2 huge concerts for us for Lets Dance.
It was August 1983 ,Toronto,Canada, his fave city...40,000 fans per night.
We went to both ,of course.
The only other double concert was the Diamond Dogs, 2 shows in one day ,it was June/1974 and we were all out of high school for the summer..went to the matinee and the wilder evening show..

I was born in the 80s so to me David Bowie was first and foremost the weird blonde dude in a yellow suit...
until I got exposed to his past of course...
