Even if you don't have a Bachelor's degree or Master's, can you still possibly be accepted into a field band? I know it would be better to have a college degree, but I'm just curious. Also, how can you tell that a band (besides the "Commandant's Own" and "President's Own") has vacancies in their band? Do you contact a recruiter?
@92reactor talk to a local recruiter he or she will be able to tell you what insturments are available. and no you dont need a degree, im a contract musician and im straight out of high school
@TJkiwiOWEG Depends on the band and what instrument a Marnie plays. Many band members have Masters Degrees and the standards are high so we are competing against orchestras and colleges for band Marines. If we don't retain these Marines we lose them and recruiting is already difficult. "The Presidents Own" band Marines are career musicians who audition and are hired as Staff Sgt's. They don't go to boot camp and don't have cross-rifles on their rank.

not all young men and women can earn earn the title of being a marine, only the finest, if you want the world to look up unto you and if you want to see the world, experience many challenges, achieve the highest peak of your career while serving with dignity pride honor and valor just join in the marines, something that you can be proud of
I'm poole and i ship out in march. I just graduated from high school. I also play the trumpet I was 5th chair symphonic band my senior year. I'm didn't choose band as one of my options but i think i want to try and see if i can make it. The only problem is that i my private lesson teacher at the time was telling me i need to change my ambisher so i can get more range and endurance and better tone in the upper range (5th line f# and up) do you think i have a chance of making it.
Thank you for posting this video. I one day want to join the Marines to play music.
