I loved this series when it first came out (though episode "The Mission Of The Darians" scared me sh*tless when I first saw it). I have the lot on DVD. I even have my old Dinky Toy Eagle (which I painted with luminous paint for some strange reason!). I used to have an eagle transporter, but I have no idea what happened to that. Here I am, 34 years later and I still love the show. :) A remake should be done, but it would have to be done right or will probably flop.
Many of these publicity pictures were also used but in a different style in the Australian Space:1999 cards released in Sunnicrust bread in 1974/5. As you can imagine, you had to go through a helluva lot of bread to collect a set of 50 cards!
Was there an Australian series of these cards? I dont think we got them in the Sydney area, We had Tip Top and I am not sure they were in there then. Anyway, they must be really valuable cards. I like both Star Trek and 1999, great series.
Yeah, there sure was, thru Sunnicrust. I collected the set, but a few have since gone west. However, there are sets in good condition I've seen in specialty SF/cult shops in Melb.
I might have had these when i was a kid, but i cant quite remember. I do still have the Geo Bassatt Cigarette Cards, about 7-8 short of the full set of 50. The number 42 card (which was withdrawn due to it being to graphic a pic of Dan Matteo's scarred face in The Troubled Spirit) is almost as rare as the 2CD Soundtrack of Series 1 from Fanderson.
I got the series one soundtrack from HMV in Glasgow. Its not exactly the same as the Fanderson version but it has more or less everything you'd want to hear on it. You can pick that up quite easily these days.
Barry Gray's music for season one of this show was phenomenal ! One of the most under-rated composers of the 20th century. His music really made this series special !
There was a piece of music that was sometimes played just before the ending of an episode depending how it ended. One of my favourite episodes - A world without fear, had this music played just before the end.
I have 42 of these in quite good condition. I didn't think they were very valuable--except as memorabilia?

When I was about six years old, my Mother bought me a toy wristwatch that said "Space 1999" on the side of the watchband:)
