As a Filipino and as a student of the University of the Philippines, I would say that your playing of this piece really sounded distinctly Filipino. I have been listening to you in a playlist here in youtube which includes pieces by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and others-- all distinctly classical and European-- while doing something else. It was then that I heard this piece which I have not heard before and I thought this piece sounds familiar. I was delighted that it is indeed Filipino music.
This is a piano interpretation of a classic Pilipino folk song called "Lulay". I think you can hear the song here on You Tube. Search "lulay" you can also find Enzo's playing this pianp piece. that's how I discovered this Boy Wonder, non other than Lorenzo Medel, Enzo
This is an amazing piece played amazingly well! Thank you for introducing it to us. I'm guessing it's copyrighted, but otherwise I would have asked for the music.
Enzo, tienes mucho talento, el sacrificio, la dedicación, el corazón y la ayuda de Dios te pueden hacer un gran pianista, sigue en la lucha, gracias por tú respuesta.
OMG!!! i was supposed to play this for a compet but decided to back out. that was 9 years ago when i was 16-17. this is my fave pinoy piece.
you played this better than i did, no doubt. hearing this piece again brings me back fun memories when i was still actively playing. how i miss the piano.
what are you playing now? i tried La campanela after Souvenir but i dint have time anymore for practice since i was in college then (the school you played in in this vid).
Enzo, this piece is just too easy for you. Interpretation wise, no problem at all because ur filipino and also live there. Maybe in the future you can visit Europe. Not Euro Disney necessarily but to places were gypsies still live. Chopin and Liszt are both influenced by their music and culture. Just a thought.. If it has to be America, try Montreal, maybe Toronto, NY, Not California though; its a whole different country.. hehe
When your father told me you were going to play Liszts campanella, I had a bit of a doubt in my mind whether you could yet handle such a piece. After hearing this, I have no doubt in my mind and I slap my wrists for having such a doubt! How the hell can you be so brilliant after just over 12 months??
But could I ask where you got the sheet music? As a Filipino myself, I'm really inspired (lol, also tempted) to play this. Though I'll be going back to the Philippines Feb.25, our schedule would be packed so I don't know if I can find some sheet music store there.
I have to add, 9 FT. GRAND! Wow, how was it? The last time I played a grand was 2 years ago, and it was about 5 ft. long (never played anything longer than 5 ft.)
yeah! the first one watching and commenting it!! k, ENZO ur just great! really, i started playing piano some months ago..unfortunately im already 16 years old..well i do play some others instruments as well, like guitar, bass, harp, ..but piano is just rocking the shit out of everything..i'll try to get some classes and get better, c ya in heaven..R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
