Vandal destroys gingerbread houses

I do live in Bergen, and while I certainly hope the culprits be found and punished for their vandalism, I do not hope their identities become public knowledge. The city is in the mood for a lynching. I can't understand what goes through people's minds when ruining the holidays for the children who've spent weeks baking and decorating what has become a very nice tradition for them. I expect the vandals will be caught though, and that their punishment will satiate the lynch-ready mob.

Exactly! I was incensed when I heard about what those vandals did and I don't even live there. There were about 650 gingerbread houses that were destroyed. The people of Bergen were so pissed off about it they are demanding that the vandals be pilloried (when found) and I don't blame them. Their legal problems should pale in comparison to what will probably happen when the city's residents find out who they are.
