hmmm....sorry to intrude here PenthesileAmazone, but Artemisia was not forced to fight for the Persians. Ionian states were under the Persian yolk, but some were happy with that arrangement. The Ionian revolt did not take place because the whole of Ionia were ready to revolt, but because of Aristagoras, who got involved in a situation and knew that he was in trouble, so decided to raise the revolt to save himself. Read Herodotus, books 5 and 6.
