I agree with you SonyaNatalia. I thought Royal Ballet's other production when Durante was dancing was out of this world! So amazing!

Maria Bjornson's set design is crazy and outrageous and I thought it was perfect.

I preferred the other costumes as well. I'm sure the dancing is wonderful as always, but in terms of sets and costumes I mist agree....it's sickly sweet! If I wanted to see this campy fairy crap I'd go see Balanchine's Nutcracker.

see Prokoviev's 'romeo and juliet' then. the music is divine and the story will sweep you away. try it on video with rudolf nureyev and margot fonteyn. if you aren't choking on your tears at the end, you simply are not alive.................

This is a remounting of the old Saddler's Wells' production that the company first unveiled in 1946 when they moved into Covent Garden and became the Royal Ballet. Critics have always maintained this production to be the most satisfying of all the Royal Ballet's versions. It's been remounted to commemorate the company's 75th anniversary.

This is available now on video, at ROH shop and online I think, in this version: Cojocaru, Bonelli, Nunez. Cojocaru is a great Aurora and honestly, you just can believe that Nunez IS the Lilac Fairy.

Alina was spectacular as Aurora. There is no other ballerina I can see in that role. Please the DVD with her performance!! and Marianela as the lilac fairy please!!!
