@Ladytatooine Well, "mon nom" is like "my name" in english and "je m'appelle" is the same thing but with other words. In France, we use more "je m'appelle" =)
i would like to be able to form sentences and hold a conversation eventually, i have routinely listened to audio and now videos of french to english translations, but am still unable to form sentences or conversate...how do i learn to speak and become a natural french speaker?
@oscarmonroy27 type in 100 of 800 Most Common French Words Part 1 on Youtube and grab a piece of paper and pen. Pause it after each word and write it down. Study the words and write down helpful hints. Then put the words into sentences. I can now honestly talk a little in French. Oh yea watch Cyprien on Youtube just because it will give you some perspective. now I can understand something’s that he says good luck : )
@grandc46 comment ça, seulement les gays apprennent le français? Tu pourrais t'espliquer, au lieu de critiquer le français? A mon avis, tu comprends rien et ça t'énerve, voilà la raison...
@MrMj1997 on the vowels there's accents which change the pronunciation of the letters on which they are. For example, 'e' reads as the e in 'cooper' and 'é' reads ay as in today. Same for ê, è and ë, but the difference is too subtle to be explained in this comment box :p. For the 'ç', the symbol is called a 'cédille' and it forces the 'c' to be read like an 's'. For example, the 'c' in 'couler' reads k as in kill, but the 'ç' in 'ça' reads 's' as in sausage.
@Mortuis0 thanks alot.same thing i was thinking.in my country nobody can speak french so i asked such a stupit question:P french looks intersting;)thanks again

"Mon nom" - really? I thought it was "Je m'appelle"

@Ladytatooine
"Mon nom est" is literally "my name is.."
"je m'appelle" means "I'm called..." :D
is like in spanish... "mi nombre es" or "me llamo..."

In french, you don't write : Je suis Français but Je suis français.
Pas de majuscules, car c'est un adjectif.
