  • @sootch00

i know this is unrelated, but where do you get the intro music?

  • God bless America. Nah he wouldn't do that if he had any sence.

  • hey Fungun you'd keep the ruger scout or the RBF for SHTF?

  • It looks a lot as halo's DMR.

  • Why do people insist on pronouncing ambidextrous as "ambi-dex-tree-us"?

    I don't get it.

  • The ejection port is way behind and to the left of the barrel. The likelihood of that happening is really slim. But an interesting point...

  • don't like that they don't have something like deflector about forward of ejection port, for instance you shoot very fast, and one of previous case jumps in face of the barel and this will afect 2nd bullet trajectory.

  • whats one cost!!!!!!

  • is .308 the same round as 7.63 x 39mm NATO? and can this firearm chamber a 7.62 x 39 NATO?

  • @ericbarasch123 No, there isn't such thing as 7.62x39 NATO, there is only 7.62x51 NATO, and yes, .308 is practically the same thing as 7.62x51 NATO

    :)

  • @MMarcan14 my mistake, it is not called 7.62 x 39mm NATO. it is simply 7.62 x 39mm, it is the round the Ak-47 and many variants chamber. so it does exist. but, i do now know that , assuming you are correct, what the metric equivalent is of .308.

  • @ericbarasch123 Yeah, i presumed that was just a simple mistake :) I just wanted to say that the 7.62x39 isn't the standard NATO round ;)

Wikipedia says: "Although not identical, the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge is similar enough to the commercial .308 Winchester that the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI) considers it safe to fire the NATO round in weapons chambered for the commercial round."

  • I want

  • works well with brass and steel?

  • i see a vector gun

  • absolutely need to be using a polymer/steel magazine similar to a surefire/glock hybrid.

Otherwise-YePPPPPPPPPPPPP! I want one.Was goin to go 300 blackout but now ahm p'pared to finally purchase a K gun.I will deem these to be first line firearms if I am elected president.

  • Probably ordering KSG this week. Will order up one of these as soon as the scum in Rome, um NY, um DC send me my money back after April. Good review, especially the trigger description that is lacking is most reviews. Would you say the recoil is comparable to the FAL? I swear the FAL I used to have felt better than the ARs! Perfect 3 gun match; RFB, KSG and my XDm in 45. I should take my PDW design to Kel - Tec, it seems right up their alley.

  • needs a break

  • He said ambidex "tree" ous

  • Also wondering how accurate this gun is...

  • That's a sweet gun! The scope looks like it's about 6" above the barrel though! That's something you'd have to constantly consider and compensate for at short ranges especially.

  • how does the shell propel itself out of the ejection port like that? is it slanted?

  • Thats a Famas

  • like the gun however i cant find much for mag pouches. every time i look for pouches i find stuff for the ar-15 and ak

  • When I heard, "... it is a very safe bull pup design which has two steel plates 1.6mm thick that will separate your face" I was like WHAT???

  • looks great but it would be a problem for the hot casings in your face

  • @mustang451000 No it wouldn't. That's why it was built. FORWARD EJECTING. Watch the whole thing next time.

  • The shell ejection seems possibly problematic. As I'm seeing you test fire it, I notice spent cartridges flying very close to the front of the barrel. Just seems to me that there is a possibility of a case being in front of the muzzle (due to the ejection) when the trigger is pulled again, thus firing around into a spent case. I know Kel-Tec is a good company and have surely done extensive testing, but I'd really like to hear their thoughts on this concern. Nice rifle though!

  • @FirearmsFreak The ejection port is far enough from the muzzle to not be an issue. By the time the spent shells get to the port, they don't have the force to fly out, but rather just fall out, harmlessly. And that's on the carbine version.

  • Thx. for the review...

  • Sootch,

I am on a waiting list for one of the RFBs. What brand and type of scope would you suggest would work great on this gun?

    Great video.

  • @edgybob1 hey there! I have a mepor 21 Israeli reflex sight on mine right now with magpul mbus back up sights. I just ordered a Meopta 1-4/22 meostar r1. I coupled it with the QD bobro 30mm mount. This way I have a variety of sights to use. The bobro allows me to keep the glass in my pack until needed.

I was able to get the meopta for 579 shipped which is less than dealer cost! Primary arms .com has them..

Other alternatives is the trijicon in similar power or S&b or zeiss.

  • Salivates at thought of owning an RFB... gets depressed because of Canadian bullpup weapons ban.

  • @icantafford what are you talking about? I have seen several Canadians with RFB rifles. Her is a site that sells them. vaultdistribution dt com

  • Beautiful weapon. It was just a matter of time before we did something like the Israeli's design. I love the forward ejection, being left handed.

Don't get me wrong now, I'm a big fan of Texas and your channel. Just try this on for size: it's ambidextrous, not ambidextrious. It's 4 syllables, not 5, no "i" in the last of the word. I'm just sayin'. You know I love you, man.

  • @sabr686 you should do you research. you will find that kel-tec produced a 5.56 version of this in the 90's that was based off of another design. If anything, IMI copied kel-tec. And, the internals are far different with a patented double extractor with forward ejection for live ambi function. you dont have to move the charging handle. The Israeli almost always copy something and make it good.

  • @STORM6490MT I stand updated. Thank you, my friend!

  • dear santa.... I've been a good boy this year......

  • what is MSRP?

  • @bobiscool308 $1880

  • Looks liek a fun rifle.

  • Hey Sootch, do you put compression on your voice?

  • I want one.

  • Would you recommend this for an individuals first battle rifle?

  • Do Want!

  • Very nice!

  • A good article that every gun owner needs to read was published in Forbes today. Look up “U.N. Agreement Should Have All Gun Owners Up In Arms”

  • @Everett07630 If that bill gets passed and ratified by the senate, war will come. I can feel it.

  • @bjpw1234 yeah, civil war #2

  • @Everett07630 NRA ILA won't let that happen....and if it does SHTF...

  • @Everett07630 fuck the UN, I cant wait to make furniture out of all the blue helmets.

  • @STORM6490MT Amen. If they're just going to shit on America every chance they get while we fight their wars, fund them, and let them live in our country with diplomatic immunity.... we should just kick them the fuck out. Sell their building to the highest bidder. Maybe China will take them in. Let the Chinese deal with those corrupt assholes. They'd fit right in.

  • @Everett07630 You should look at the North American Union Which will destroy the U.S and the constitution. UNACCEPTABLE!!

  • GBA! LLTR!

  • The foward ejection of the spent brass is a neat concept but I doubt anyone in a serious combat environment would want to always make sure all the brass has been emptied out or risk having spent brass flying out of your weapon while on the move.

  • @halo4Lyf I was thinking the same thing looks so much like it.

  • So,I guess it would be possible to shoot your own flying brass then

  • what are we talking about take down wise is it easy to clean or when i pull something off do i end up with parts just falling out?

  • coooool...

  • Are 7.62 nato and 308 the same thing because yous said 308 and the rifle has 7.62 nato stamped on it im not that knowledgeable in all the different rifle cartridges and how similar or different they are

  • @gunsmith93 They are very close. The 7.62x51mm NATO is the military cartridge, and can be loaded to slightly higher pressures. Thus, a gun chambered for 7.62mm NATO can safely fire both cartridges, while a gun chambered in .308 Winchester should only be used with commercial .308 rounds.

  • @JMunn55 Ohh I see so its alot like how you can shoot .223 out of a 5.56 but not the other way around and 38 out of a 357 mag

  • @gunsmith93 Exactly. Although it is in a way more dangerous, as the military cartridges actually fit easily in the civilian guns not made for that cartridge. Same as .38 vs .357, although a .357 is too long to fit in all .38s.

  • Holy shit, it's the Battle Rifle from the Halo franchise!

  • Sootch, thanks for the review. Do you recall what scope was installed on that RFB? I'm looking for an optic with long eye-relief, and it seems that would fit the bill.

  • Yes, they are available in CA with a modified mag release. (bullet button) It's a bummer to need a tool punch or bullet tip to drop the mag but it still makes for a lot of fun at the range if you're stuck in CA. LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!

  • Out of curiosity, who provided this rifle? I ask because it has the newest upgrades, including the 2nd generation gas system (you can tell by the different gas plug and the small weld mark on the front right of the carrier). I'm curious if this was sent in for retrofit or came from the factory that way.

  • @Cliffswallow looks to me like he is at the lucky gunner shoot that was for big time youtube gun guys, was probably one of the guns that got to shoot for free with as much ammo as they wanted :'(

  • Comment removed

  • omg i jsut saw the retail price on these is up to $1800??!!!

thats WELL overpriced..especially for Kel Tec...

Ill stick to my FNFAL thanks

  • i always heard these kick like Mules!

they are a neat handy little rifle, but im not sure of what they are designed for in .308?

really only usefull for a hunting rifle

  • @generalzod4life The RBF kicks like a 308...

  • fnh f2000 has the same style of ejection with there bullpup

  • your voice reminds me of a radio DJ.

  • That is one crazy looking rifle.

    Schmoo

  • did you experience any jams when shooting this since it seems like the empty shell isn't coming with much force.

  • Thanks Mr.Sootch! I realize this is a bullpup design...but I'm curious as to the twist rate of the barrel/ barrel length / and what kind of velocity/range can be expected with this system...Suppose you could engage 1000 with the right match grade or hand loaded ammo on a consistent basis? Also...After extended firing I'm curious to know how far your groups would open up...H-Bar?

  • Thanks for the review sootch.

  • I so wished that Kel-Tec would ship them to Europe :-((. Beautiful rifle.

  • As you confirmed at 1:56 , this rifle requires metric FAL magazines.

Tough, proven mags -- but they are hard to find in nice condition nowadays. Quite scarce. Could prove a limitation on the rifle.

  • @classof77 New production Korean mags are available. I personally have not tried them (yet) but I have heard mostly good things and plan to buy some in the future. Also I believe DSA is producing FAL magazines.

  • @evilassaultweaponeer DSA has been saying they'll produce FAL mags for years, but it hasn't happened.

  • @classof77 I've noticed that they're website has been saying they're "coming soon" for years, but I heard from someone else who claims you must call them and says he has purchased their magazines before. If I remember, I'll call them this week and find out for myself. If they are in fact selling them, I'll let you know (if I remember, lol).

  • @classof77 I called DSA today and they said the 30 rounders are available (over the phone only) for $24.95. They do not have 20 or 25s available currently, but I would sure like to buy some 30s, and hey, that's not a bad price at all!

  • @classof77 In the US, they are quite cheap and plentiful.

  • @beaker2000 Horse crap. I live in the US. You obviously haven't looked in a few years. They used to be "cheap and plentiful."

  • @classof77 That is odd. I look on GB and I see tons of them for next to nothing. You sure you know what you are talking about?

  • @classof77 DSA is going to start manufacturing metric FAL magazines in Illinois i think

  • @Chriznak Or so they have been saying for several years.

  • @classof77 only a bazillion austrian metric Styer magazines out there to work perfectly in your rfb. IMI also works, millions of them. I just purchased two new austrians for 40 bucks mint condition with a leather pouch. No limitations on the magazines. New production mags are also out now including a 30 rounder.

  • @STORM6490MT LOL whatever.

Just did another Google for metric FAL mags. Here's what comes up: (1) lot of b.s. Thermold mags -- no thank you; (2) a few beat-up Austrians in dodgy condition; (3) forum thread entitled "Why are FN/FAL Mags So Expensive?"; (4) Mint Metric FAL Mags from DSA "OUT OF STOCK"; (5) Beat-Up DSA Mags "OUT OF STOCK."

    No limitations, eh buddy?

You can scrounge SOME out there. But compared to, e.g., .308 AR mags -- it's a VERY limiting component for this rifle, today.

  • @classof77 i got mine off gunbroker. com

  • @classof77 My first thought when they released this was "why not G3 mags?" So plentiful and so cheap and more than field tested as are the FAL mags.

  • @STORM6490MT I do see the US made 30 round jobs on DSA's website -- those are new. We'll see if they work. Great if they do, though they look awkwardly protruding compared to the 20 rd mags the rifle is designed for.

And I bet a dangly 30 rd mag would be particularly awkward with a bullpup like the RFB, whose whole point was supposed to be compactness.

  • I hope they are reliable and durable....especially for what kel tec is asking for them.

  • Do they have it in 223? I know you love your 308.

    Thanks Scootch

  • I like the forward ejection, just like on the FN F2000. Keeps brass out of the face of your friend beside you. I wonder how reliable the system is though.

  • This gun is like all of their others. I don't know why they don't just call every gun they have the "Out of Stock Special".

  • I might go w/ this rifle since the SIG 716 hasn't come out yet and the POF P308 are rumored for QA issues.

  • I am looking forward to the new Keltec "Zombie Killer" 12 gauge bullpup, 14+1 pump shotgun.

I'd like to see you do a review and test fire of these new AR stocks that enable anyone to "bump fire" like a full auto weapon without the stamp, hassle or cost. It is called the Slidefire Solutions stock, and it runs about $375. It is a pretty low cost full auto substitute. I would like to buy one while they are still legal, but I want an independent review.

  • so this gun with an 18inch barrel is the same size as an ar-15 with a ... barrel?

  • Sootch, Great review. I'd like to know how this rifle does between 200 and 400 meters.

  • Cool look at an awesome new rifle. Wish they were more available though...

  • Kel Tec NEEDS to make a 5.56 version of this!!!!!

  • @xPOSSUM45x That would be sweet. What about even the Russian calibers.

  • Nice little review. Thanks for sharing!

  • Nice bullpup 308 low recoil that is a dream weapon,

I only wish it was 3006 I would buy one tomorrow.

I kinda like the style shooting, talking good review.

  • I love it. But two things, 1.) I want it in 5.56 and 2.) it is too spendy. But I love it. I have waited for a good review and once again Don you pull it off.

  • More ambi guns please. It means alot.

  • @sootch00 great vid. I'd love one of those but... Can't find one and the price point is a bit high for me. Keep up the great work fighting those dang zombies!

  • FN FAL mags?

  • This gun doesn't look fun to shoot at all. Don't you feel all the recoils? It is a pain in your neck, man. Kel-Tec should make them in .223 rather than .308. Short gun uses large cartridge never seems to work.

  • Ambidextrous! No *i* included! Sorry... it drives me insane when people say it the way you did. ;) Hehe

  • @tellmeitsnottaken Agree, it's surprising how many people make that error--but Sootch's vids are good so we'll give him a pass--THIS time! :-)

  • Daddy want!

  • The RFB makes me wich I would have waited to buy my DSA FAL and bought it instead...

  • 5.56 version plz?!

  • I would like this gun in 7.62x39mm

  • i should have gotten this instead of a ps90

  • Great video, I haven't had the privelage to shoot this yet, but I want to. Although, I have gotten to shoot the KSG and I love it.

  • In Ontario, Canada if the Firearm is pointed any where but exactly stright down the range they will take you off the line for unsafe muzzle control.

  • Thanx for the review Sootch00, I will be attending an active shooter (school shooting) class in a few days as an LEO and I am using my own personal RFB with department ammo to shoot the course along with my CZ75B in .40, should be a blast.......... literally.

  • Cool rifle; I shot one a couple of weeks ago at the range. A gun dealer had one to see what people thought. I liked it OK, but $1,800 is a bit rich for my blood for rifle in a cal. that also cost almost $1 a round. If they could get the price point down to something reasonable and chamber it in x39 I'd own one today.

  • @AzNd3v1L3 The shells do not eject with any force. The recoil of the rifle was simply throwing the shells out in the video. Normaly there are 3 or 4 shell cassings sitting in the ejection port that fall out when you tilt the rifle forward, or are pushed out from the next few shells.

  • Oh snap! Can I come over?

  • Rfb looks sweet, and like the glass it had on it also.

  • it look a bit like the french famas

  • the fn f2000 works a bit like this to

  • Oh, and I think you have to go for a bull pup design in the zombie apocalypse. Long barrel length for accuracy but compact design for manouevarability . I'd go for the FN P90 myself with the 557 on my hip. Added bonus that they use the same ammo so if you get over run by the undead you have less to worry about in the panic =)

  • Personally, this is the most interesting gun you've reviewed in a while. It looks awesome. The other guns have been good, but this is ace.

  • Awesome video awesome rifle. :)

I like the futuristic look Kel Tec weapons have.

  • thanks for the review, was looking at 308's yesterday and totally forgot about this one, I hear though that Kel-Tec's are not widely available....

  • Hi Sootch, nice video. Hope you'll have some time in the future in depth. I'm looking forward to such a review. It's a quiet interesting rifle but unfortunately Kel Tec doesn't export to the European Union. Would like to shoot it once just to feel how it matches up against a FAL.

  • does it use the g3 mags?

  • Not widely available, only seen one for sale in my area. Certainly an interesting concept firearm, but I rather go with Colt’s new SP901 modular semi-auto 7.62 / 5.56 NATO carbine. Or the FN semi-auto 7.62 NATO SCAR17S.

  • KelTec is really starting to come out with some great looking firearms. I want that new Shotty they just came out with too!

  • Never shot one myself, BUT held one and looked it over real real good, I liked it,, the price scared me off,,,wait for a while and find it street price, but yes, I agree she's sweet!

    Thumbs up!~~John

  • Cool

  • Sorry but that gun was kicking the shooters asses.

Looks like it has a fair bit a recoil which is surprising because youd think that a bullpup design would have alot more recoil reduction.

Hopefully Gen2 of this will have less recoil.

  • Nice video and cool rifle.

  • kinda looks like the FA-MAS !

  • You can get the magazines for that at Sportsmans Guide..

  • so many evil features = no buy in california.

I'll keep dreaming. I hate Libtards!

  • that big guy shooting it made it look like a 22 haha. i wish i could sneak you a L85A2 Sootch from England

  • damn that is a sexy gun ;)

  • I SEE KRISS SUPER-V's

  • @strik30fd00m Review coming soon : )

  • @sootch00 Be sure to try and include some info on the accuracy like you do with your pistols.

  • @sootch00 Yay

  • how much are they?

  • @jwgbmp40 Last I heard, you can get them for around $1800.

  • nice anti zombie rifle

  • Hey Sootch, I like this, but would be lying if i said it was on the wish list. I need to see this VERY new rifle get beat up a bit more in real life situations first. I do have high hopes for it. Nice quick peek at an innovative design from a good company.

  • The forward ejection looks like Kel Tec's version of my FNH FS2000 bullpup in 5.56. I wish they made it in .308!

  • Sweet rifle.

  • I want one, bad!

  • They have a 5.56 prototype, don't know if it will come to production. The owner does not want to hire anymore people right now cause of the economic instablity and legal issues with AWB.

  • in your annotation you say the bolt handle is on the left side. it is reversible to make the gun ambidextrious.

  • Its a buy.

  • Is it a buy?

  • i was trained on the british SA80, it is a good weapon but u can't fire it left-handed. im right-handed but there are still times when it would have been better and safer to shoot it in the left, around left-hand corners and sometime breaching a door that might open funny..

  • I like it. very compact and light. I will adopt it for it's modern desighn.

  • @andrewsheldonreeves I like it too, but it is 8 lbs empty and without optics.

  • I'm going to be honest, I want one...bad...

  • @AzNd3v1L3 The cases gently fall out. Supressors are a non issue. Check out Gunblast's video. The supressor he showcases is incredible for performanc. I own and RFB FYI.

  • Kinda looks like an AUG

  • Cool rifle. I was just looking at one of these at my local gun store the other day, I was surprised to how light it felt. What do you think of the reliability of this rifle, any malfunctions or jams?

  • @AzNd3v1L3 Scratch the barrel or the ejection chute?

How is mounting a suppressor going to be an issue?

It seems that weather, seasons, and climates affect the ejection and operation of firearms.

This one is different how? The forward ejecting feature makes it different so that it's more unreliable?

  • It reminds me of the DMR from Halo Reach XD

  • nice rifle, looks quite futuristic, like what a scifi space marine will use.

usually i dont like the looks of bullpup rifles, although they have obvious advantages over regular style, they kinda look like if they had been assambled wrong. This one looks great
