The Thai government has created the political problems in the Pattani by not recognizing the Muslim minority and discriminating against them. The Buddhist majority of the country have frankly ignorant and racist views towards the Muslims in the South. Poverty, lack of education and high unemployment for Muslims have been the result. Thai Muslims have no interest in converting other Thai Buddhists.

What I meant is Muslims are not directly targeted until they demonstrate that they do not support the radicals carrying out these attacks. Non radical Muslims may be in the blast area when the bombs go off but generally they are not the direct target.
