  • I think Anne definitely had some good traits, but she is no angel. The Boleyn's like most other noble families were schemers looking to advance themselves at others expense. I feel that Cardinal Wolsey was wrongly accused and persecuted, and Anne and her family had a lot to do with that as well. They all played a dangerous game, and in the end a lot of them got a dose of their own medicine.

  • I recall my mother telling me the stories of Anne and Katherine Howard - Anne's first cousin- when I was a wee girl. I am related to the Boleyns via the Stafford line. Anne was cultured and intelligent. She was also ambitious but although she coveted the crown she never forgave Wolsey for acting on Henry's orders and dissolving her engagement to Harry Percy. I do not believe she was adulterous and she was executed on spurious and trumped up evidence. But she died well and is buried next to Towe

  • she was nasty! and she played a dangerous game, and lost! but she was very brave at the time of her death, a fact still talked about to this day. it took alot of balls for her to conduct herself as she did!

  • Henry was a megalomaniac-he carried absolute power and used it in the most negative way. He suffered from diabetes as well because he ate like a pig especially when he was no longer physically active due to his injuries. The only thing he is remembered for is his temper and the treatment of his wives. And poor Mary, his first daughter---he played so many mind games with her, no wonder she turned out to be bi-polar. The whole thing is so sad. So many chances to do good - and none taken.

  • Admittedly, I haven't read all 928 (currently) comments, but you can't blame Anne for Henry. Henry grew 'tired' of Katherine and that was very swinish of him. And if it hadn't been Anne who caught his eye at court, it would have been someone else who was attractive and of 'son-bearing age.' Besides, if you do a little reading, you'll see that any man interested in Anne while Henry was still with Katherine, Henry had sent away. Anne's choices kinda narrowed down as time passed. I love Anne.

  • this is a bitch!

  • i like the part at the end when she was a little girl

  • You reap what you sow. The woman was no saint, as h has been said here. She wanted Queen Katherine dead. Katherine was the beautiful, poor girl who deserves admiration. She was not executed, but died more slowly and paintfully, sick and lonely. But at least she died with God. The people were right to call Anne the whore and shout "Long live Queen Katherine" when Henry and his "bride" passed through the streets.

  • @wainscottbl Are you kidding me? You're right that Katherine of Aragon did not deserve her fate, but don't place all the blame on Anne. Blame Henry and everyone who supported his actions because they believed he needed a male heir. And while Anne was a lot of things, she was never a whore. So no, they were wrong to shout that.

  • @MagicalPants Yes, not a whore. So Anne was just stupid and did not know it was wrong to take a man's wife from him. You are a morally stupid fool.

  • @wainscottbl By that logic everyone today who has had a divorce and then got remarried is immoral. Anne was not stupid, merely ambitious. Also name calling will get you nowhere.

  • @MagicalPants according to what Jesus said about it,a man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery and "he who divorces (puts away) his wife causes her to commit adultry." Read about the opinion of the ultimate judge.I'm not saying it doesn't happen,it does, all the time. But Jesus said "in the beginning,it was not so." meaning God hates divorce. It says that in the Book of Malichi.

  • @crowleysridgegirl I'm pretty sure the Bible also said something about judging not, but that doesn't stop all the Katherine fans from coming here and calling Anne a whore, which is something she is not. And just because your beliefs reject the concept of divorce it doesn't mean everyone else has to agree. It's more harmful to stay in a relationship with someone you don't love.

  • I've read 3 different books about Anne Boleyn (not including The Other Boleyn Girl. i couldn't even get through the third chapter) & yes i realize she's done horrible things, but i still like her because she proves that not everybody is perfect, and people make mistakes. People have to realize that yes she "stole" Henry from Katherine, but she didn't WANT to at first. If she had just been allowed to marry Henry Percy or Thomas Wyatt had been unmarried, she would of never done the things she did.

  • Pretty hard to make the difference between monarchy and dictatorship...isn't it?

  • @bsharporbflat It's not really. A dictator is an autocrat who has usually come from the lower classes. A Monarch is [sometimes] an autocrat, who comes from a noble bloodline.

Autocracies can be royal, religious, military. An Autocracy being a state which is controlled by a single, supreme ruler. Hitler, King Henry VIII, Ali Khamenei are all good examples.

  • @samsmith92samsmith Thanks for the course, but my questioning was cynical. If you want though lets get back to basics and explain to me who decides who is a low class and who is of noble bloodline and you will find dictators of all kinds while you elaborate. Thanks for the sort of 007 briefing though.

  • @bsharporbflat Lol, I have absolutely no idea what makes a 'noble' bloodline other than ancestral wealth, and titles; curiously some Autocrats like Hitler and Franco decided not to make themselves royalty, whilst others like Emperor Napoleon did.

  • Henry was an arsehole

  • Why did she die and what happened??

  • @pinkprettygurlswag21 That question could probably never be answered.

The technical reason that she was executed was because she was accused of treason, incest and adultery, but the real reason is that she was killed is because in the eyes of many she was a risk. she was as intelligent, quick, and decisive as Henry VIII and NO ONE wanted this. her own uncle turned everyone against her. By the time of her death, Henry VIII was so eager to marry a new girl that he could care less about her.

  • @pinkprettygurlswag21 You should really watch the movie called, The Other Boleyn girl, It gives you the history of Anne and every sneaky and conniving thing she did to become the queen of England and how she stole the King from her own sister. The Boleyn's changed the history of England forever by convincing Henry VIII to do things. The Tutor family has, in my opinion, the most interesting stories in history, it so full of scandal, drama, and craziness!

  • no matter how evil a person is....... no man has the right to take his/her life......

  • @19maganda A marauding slapper a pal of mine married kicked him out and took his home on the strength of the two brats she brought to the marriage with her, after which she humped half the men in town. Away with you and wash your nether regions !

  • Those FFFFFFFFFACKIN' Tooders!! OOO DOO THEY FINK THEY ARE?????

  • just yet another example how the english are fucked up.

  • Let God have mercy for her soul. She prompted Henry to break with Universal Church. Her guilt was so terrible as Henry's.

Henry's blood was leaking from his dead body And dogs were licking exactly as was prophesied by a monk. This monk told the king in face if he continue to persecute the Catholic Church then dogs would lick his blood as they licked king Achab's blood in the Old Testament time.

  • I am proud to be English. This monarchy is long standing and has had such an interesting & impactful history! The church is not as insanely corrupt as it was in previous times and since then there has been reform to break away from that dirtiness. Monarchs back then had the right to do as they pleased, they did so, and things did not change until later with the rest of the world. Things like this were not abnormal, although some were harsher than others. You have to understand before criticizing

  • Was she the one whose head kept praying after her head was severed from her body?

  • @TheWitchdoctr It is believed that she was so "evil" that her eyes still moved and she still spoke once her head had been severed. :/

  • @MouseyMouse92 Yeah, something like that, I guess. Interesting. Was she evil? Or was it just because the head can live for a few seconds after being severed from the body?

  • @TheWitchdoctr No, I don't believe she was evil. And I do not believe the stories that claim she spoke after being beheaded. I think people just wanted to make her out to be even more unpopular as she already was. So, they came up with a wild crazy story to have more of an excuse to hate and fear her.

  • @MouseyMouse92 I don't know. It doesn't sound too crazy. It sounds kind of reasonable to me. I mean, not everyone dies immediately from being beheaded. The brain is still functioning, for a second or two, even after the heart is no longer pumping blood through the head anymore.

  • @TheWitchdoctr Whatever it was, I believe it was a story people made up because she was a very unpopular woman.

  • @MouseyMouse92 According to the top comment, she was nasty or something. I wouldn't know though.

  • I love The Tudors and each season had its special moments, but i cant believe some of the comments that have been posted on here, from bashing the monarchy from then and today and the English as a whole, this is Englands history whether we like it or not, I personally am proud to be from a country with such deep rooted traditions and a long standing monarchy! As for Anne Boleyn she was a pawn in a game played by men!

  • Re the French swordsman, It is said by on be or two historians that Henry had already sent for him before the "Guilty verdict" because there could never have been a different outcome. Anne had to go, she was stitched up as was Catherine of Aragon. and very nearly Catherine Parr who just escaped death too because the old sod died . He was already setting his sights on wife numero 7.

  • They were all VILE. Corrupt, treacherous, cruel and Roman Catholic hypocrites as only they can be. As fascinating as it might be I personally loath royalty, the church and all it stands for.. I cannot understand anyone who pays homage to these dreadful human beings. They could swat you like a fly without remorse;arm around your shoulder one minute and then betray you the next . Nowadays only the technology has changed, they are are still at heart as ruthless if the circumstances demanded.

  • wow. even for their executions they were dressed up beautifuly

  • Hideous traditions. How can England still keep their marquises. Crazy people.

  • I don't understand how people used to flock to see public executions. How absolutely gruesome. The amount of gushing blood must have been hideous.

  • @Rayarena look at the popularity of the Saw and Hostel movies and the UFC "sport". What makes you think that people "used" to go see such violence. They still do today.

  • Who was this boy they show like sad about Ann

  • well! at least anne boleyn is more famous that stupid king henry

  • i'm no fan of Anne Boleyn's but this broke me. The music and the image of her as a kid in his father's arms was perfect.

  • The only person I was sad to see go was Wolsey, all he did was serve the king and try to rise up, this bitch ruined the entire kingdom and got him killed.

  • @FacerollCinema I think Wolsey was the maker of his own doom. Anne was not completely to blame!

  • @wirramirra26 even so, if you were in line to be pope and your king ruins it not 1 time, not 2 times, but 3 times in a row and you continued to serve him with only one indiscretion of getting paid by another country to suggest and be bias towards them you dont deserve execution....at most you deserve a stern talking to, she invoked wolsey's death and Protestantism which separates england and alienates them from everyone

  • Beautiful scene...makes me cry every time

  • Does anyone know the name of the song in the video or where I can find/buy it? Thanks for the help

  • @principessa216 The scene is from The Tudors season rwo episode 10 and the soundtrack is available for all 4 seasons

  • Anyone else would forgive the killer of them?? I would, he has no choice or he too will be killed by another, Bloody tyrants. God didnt put these men in power only the devil!

  • @MultiDocdoom

Don't blame an imaginary creature, for what is solely the fault of human s and humans alone.

  • whats the name of the song that playing in the background?

  • @Love1Angelful ....I want to know the name of the song too

  • I preferred Natalie postman's version better...it was more truthful. Although this is also a great interpretation...she's utterly resigned to her fate.

  • @ntherewas1 more truthful? it was based on a fictional book.

  • Such a sad sad story

  • The kings of former days are the politicians of today. Henry the 8th has nothing on any world leader. The conformists elect sociopaths to govern them, --less intelligent than ants, because they get nothing from their allegiance. Individual thought is the most difficult thing in the world for most men --which is why they specialize like insects. Google Fully Informed Jury Association to find a path to regaining our lost individual freedom, won by heroic Englishman John "Freeborn John" Lilburne

  • @libertarianjury sounds amazingly like the obamamessiah yourself that you are describing. the communist organizer who NEVER had a job NOR EARNED a honest day's work.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly

While I agree wholeheartedly, this is not the place for it.

  • @DarkLordVegeta and why not? afterall, this is a PUBLIC forum just as the ancient hellenes INVENTED public speaking for EVERYONE to speak. I understand perfectly well that everyone has the right to speak but NOT the right to be heard. ~S

  • @SocratesTheGadfly

Duly noted, but it may not be wise (considering the intelligence of the average youtuber).

  • @DarkLordVegeta yes not only are we sliding to gomorrah but IDIOCRACY is alive and well in you tube land. the great wasteland use to be television but the internet is infinitely more vast and barren.

  • Natalie Portman's version was the best in my opinion. This one just didn't really do it for me.

  • Charles Brandon had a hand in her death according to the show right?

  • @sexypandacandy yeah charles hated her and her father not so much george though

  • this dude killed her because of heresay. He fucked any woman on two legs but because of a few rumors he killed her? pathetic

  • @Kratos8462 Anne Boleyn was no saint either. Do some reading; she was actually pretty nasty.

  • @kfr129 She may have been ruthless and grasping. But she didn't deserve to be executed, her end was heartbreaking. And I have to hand it to The Tudors, it was beautifully shot!

  • @kfr129 yes i agree she had a pretty nasty disposition hard to pity her if you have done your research.

  • @kfr129 Just a little while before her execution though, she was quite changed. I suspect you read The Last Boleyn. Yes she suffered quite a temper, am I wrong? But she was very intelligent, so much that she played the king like chess. Of course, after much suffering after her becoming queen, she matured. And at that time you truly saw a noble woman. Damn Henry for his false accusations against her Grace.

  • @kfr129 The traits that made Queen Elisabeth I such a great Queen came from Anne Boleyn, her mother, far more so than her father Henry, in my opinion. Anne was ruthless and manipulative and at times could be quite nasty. But these are traits that such women needed to survive and thrive in the middle ages; her manipulations where perhaps not wise around someone as insecure as Henry VIII.

  • @kfr129 true but Henry was a terrible terrible man!

  • screw henry. the asshole.

  • @ Queen of the swans, thanks a lot for the name of the song! I also love it so much!

  • @myowyn Youre welcome ! :)

  • Hahahaha, some people really do 'get into' all this, with comments like "I never liked that Boleyn girl" and "f*cking dirty slag",& even funnier, people actually 'thumbing-up' the comments! Just as well she's not alive today she'd be run out of town, lol.Oh,hang about,we have Camilla! As you were, lol.

  • @popazz1 lol...your comment right on target !...still laughing !

  • @miltsar ,

Thank you.I appreciate she was a historical figure but some people talk about her as if they actually knew her personally,or were there at the time of these events, lol. And even though we have historical archives in the main these were only personal accounts of the woman.Perhaps those who hated her were exaggerating her less likeable traits for their own malicious reasons.Hollywood has a lot to answer for. Also,it's worth noting that people did what was needed in order to remain ALIVE.

  • who was that at 2:26?

  • @SupernaturalLover67 Charles Brandon....

  • I have read that the executioner purposely asked for the boy to bring his sword so that Ann would look forward and not keep looking back in anticipation and this way it would be a quick and accurate cut.

  • @miltsar ... He explains thats exactly why he does it in the show.

  • @miltsar weird my nurses did something similar for my vaccination, they had my friend call my name and when i looked at him they jabbed it in...Ouch.

  • @miltsar I have read that as well. I'm glad to see Henry took some pity in Anne by execution of a swordsmen rather then that of an ax men.

  • @miltsar the executioner had pity for anne boleyn? i thought she was disliked by almost everyone at that time

  • @phantomwaltz I had read about the executioners ploy in the Antonia Frazier book, The Wives of Henry VIII .

I have not seen all of the tv film so I don't know how much was taken from the book...but that scene was very close to what Frazier had written. If I remember correctly Frazier documents that Boleyn did have some supporters but it was risky politically to let that be known .

  • @miltsar i see thanks for the info! gotta read that book

  • @phantomwaltz: I too found that controversial, especially in this film.

  • Does anyone know what the music is from the last part of this video?

  • @TLSUk "Henry Eats the Swan"

  • @TLSUk Yes, i know that. It calls Jerusalem by Anuna :)

  • her eyes are so blue ♥

  • I hear Downfall in the soundtrack : )

  • i always cry to this :(

  • The king was such a fat dick!

  • What's that music they are playing at the end?

  • WOW catherine of aragon lived longer than she did.

  • @mrcharles007 actually Catherine Of Aragon died before Anne Boleyn's Downfall.

  • @TooCoolforschool1000 my mistake you are correct.

  • @TooCoolforschool1000 they died on the same day

  • @luchia8426 no, She died at Kimbolton Castle, on 7 January 1536. The following day, news of her death reached the King. There were rumours at the time that she was poisoned, possibly by Gregory di Casale. According to the chronicler Edward Hall, Anne Boleyn wore yellow for the mourning, which has been interpreted in various ways; Polydore Vergil interpreted this to mean that Anne did not mourn.

  • It's a very haunting ending.

  • @PinStripes41 Well first off you were given that money to give. Secondly it wasn't for the executioner to kill you, it was for the executioner to kill you WELL. (i.e Quickly and Cleanly)

  • @PinStripes41 She paid so the executioner would make it swift and not miss.

  • This scene really got to me. Mostly because I cared for the character(even though she was a bit too jealous at times) and she was innocent.

  • why did anne have to die becuase henry the 8th heard a rumor and yet he a Queen killed.

  • @rexana i know i can't much gory things either.. but however in this scene there is no blood and it is so what peaceful but i cry every time i watch it though!

  • @danilol7 i agree and I dont even like anne!

  • The 'purse' was tradition, to bribe what might be an otherwise unsympathetic executioner into aiming accurately. He was brought in from France, if memory serves me, and respected for insuring fast deaths. The entire world knew AB was innocent. KH8 was a lunatic by then; dealing with emotional instability after a head injury the year prior. The fact that he was not assassinated by his own courtiers (over this) is evidence of the great man he had been before decompensating into such a bastard.

  • whats the song called at 2:35?

  • This is a great scene...Thanks for putting it up...I have one question for anyone that can help...What is or who sings the song in this scene? Thanks for the help...

  • Is that elizabeth in the audience?

  • @lstswnsng No

  • @lstswnsng No, it;s just a random town child.

  • omg why anne did u have to do this! u r such an idiot

  • @makayla60901 umm, she didnt really have a choice

  • Utterly horrible that she had to pay the man who was going to kill her.

  • @annie10103 It was t o ensure a clean job.

  • @Saffron49

But still, would you LIKE to pay your killer?

  • @annie10103 Well She Didnt Exactly Have A Choice To Be Executed. If Im Not Mistaken, In That Time Period, It Was Wise To Pay the Executioner So That He Will Not Make Your Death Long And Drawn Out. That It Be Swift And As Painless As Possible. He Didnt Want To Do It. But It Was By The Kings Orders That It Be Done.

  • @TouchOfIvory

I know but, listen, even if you had to be killed it's not nice to pay you're killer.

  • Women sure know how to pick em!

  • She was innocent. It was terrible that she had to die.

  • In the end you see that little girl is it Anne herself when she was younger or is it Elizabeth?

  • @MegaBratzgirls That's Anne with her father, and her brother in the garden. She's remembering when she was a child.
