  • I CANT BELEVE I ALMOST DIED BY THE TORNADO. I WAS 4 WHEN THAT HAPPEND AND I ALL MOST DIED IF MY PRESCHOOL TEACHER WAS NOT THERE I WOULD OF BEEN DEAD

  • how can you "like" or "dislike" this?

  • 2 years later i was born

  • @Mr545432 Then why'd you even both replying in the first place? Seems rather irrelevant if you knew that already.

  • @Mr545432 What part of I was 4 didn't you get? You really think a 4 year old would understand natural disasters and the damage they cause?

  • The Funnel Cloud touch the ground on 0:53

  • Comment removed

  • at 0:47 the cloud starts rotating

  • This goes 2 show that tornadoes can strike anywhere, not just in tonado and dixie alley

  • i thought that it was a little wierd but cool that it jumped over the Salt Lake temple. it jumps at 55 seconds in the clip.

  • that aint nothing

  • oh look i survived the tornado too >:D

  • lol i live on salt lake city

  • I remember watching this on the television and laughing so hard... I was 4.

  • that was the fastest tornado i ever seen

  • SLC was lucky. That tornado was short and pretty weak. No tornado is good, but a powerful one woulda fucked up downtown Salt Lake.

  • I was in school during this, about 10 miles away. I must have been in 3rd grade at the time. When I think of this I remember being in class and one of the "Tough" kids, if that's what you want to call him, was crying.

  • two years and a month before 9/11,just sayin!

  • @xxxRCT3FREAKxxx That's really irrelevant, just sayin'.

  • @wlfman11 ok whatever

  • i was dead who ever reads this im killing you

  • I was there when this happened. The tornado devastated the city of Salt Lake but it passed safely and literally OVER the Mormon temple without even harming the least bit of it. What does that say about the Mormon religion?

  • @wootman27 Nothing at all, it's a well built structure.. what does that say about your logic?

  • It's all like, "Fuck you, I'm a tornado motherfucker!"

  • it ripped off the roof of the delta center- now energy solutions arena

  • 0:55 whats that light on da ground near the tornado?

  • @vampiregirl777nl It probably ripped through a phone wire or something else electrical.

  • @vampiregirl777nl Most likely power flashes from electrical transformer boxes that expolded.

  • @vampiregirl777nl power line/transformer being taken out

  • me: what? where's the tornado i thought there was supposed to be a torna- HOLY SHIT!

  • LOL! gods joke on mormons "Hey look at that...wait...is that a mormon temple?! jesus! Lemme come down for a sec"

  • I am sad i missed this. Just moved to SLC from Texas where i was an amateur storm chaser. I'm gonna miss the storms... :(

Although, there has been plenty of lightning since i got here! :)

  • tornado- i come, i fuck shit up, i leave.

  • @angiethenative Heheh... Thank you, drive through.

  • my dad survived that, too. he was holding onto a tree!

  • sweet footage!

  • Holy ****, what a ninja tornado.

    Tornadoes are terrifying.

  • Looks bad and amazing at the same time. How many died?

  • @Andi33344

    One.

  • i was about 4 when this tornado hit. my dad was in a building when it happened. he had to retreat from the window or else the tornado would take him out.(poor windows) :)

  • i remember the tornado of 99 i was at the main library downtown and all the power went out .i thought it was just a rain storm then someone came in shouting salt lake was hit by a tornado.and i thought he was joking becouse nothing ever happens in salt lake city.then every police force in the state of utah was in salt lake took me 5 hours to get home and i lived in magna

  • i survived the Tordnado in Salt Lake City Of '99...............seriously I did !!!!!

  • @pablopatron1 Do you remember any of it?

  • @pablopatron1 me too, but i was young so i dont remember it :/

  • @pablopatron1 good for you

  • we are going to have an earthquake cause all the birds and animals are acting up

  • i remember this...wow, i live in Lehi and i was so scared it was gonna come our way! agh.

  • i live in bountiful and its right next to salt lake city and i could see it from my house

  • @Galastin

Actually we had tornado appear in the clouds down in riverdale, but it never touched down, it was on fox 13, did you hear about it? I was at home, but my dad was driving down to riverdale to go to a store and he saw it....very unusual...

  • 0:52 beautiful! Thank you. I am so happy to see this video.

  • @greenbaritos Yah, too bad it didnt take out the beautiful building that it took 50 years to complete. damn shame. you ingnorant fucker.

  • ignorant maybe but how can utah pass a law against miscarriage?

  • Your kidding me right? first of all you just made yourself look like a tard. Im guessing you meant abortion?? a miscarriage isnt something you can ban haha.

And second. how the flying shit did we go from you wishing destruction on a building to hating on the entire state of utah... i think for your sake you should probubly shut your pie hole

  • @caddy272 Utah really did pass a law making it illegal to pay someone to beat you up if your pregnant cause some teenage girl did it.

  • @greenbaritos

The temple is made of solid granite, the tornado would've had to have been several times larger to even damage anything more than the windows.

  • Agreed, greenbaritos needs to pipe down.

  • When I lived there people always said "no we never do and can't have tornados here because the of mountains". It doesn't surprise me. Oh and I feel very sorry for the atheist because hell is a very bad place. Take a look at 23 min. in hell. It scared the hell out of me. lol

  • I remember this that was some pretty scary shit.

  • i do remember this day i had a freind over, it was hella windy didnt actually see the tornado in person tho

  • This nocked over a tree in my yard when i was like 3 it was awesome haha

  • holy crap balls of fire. that wud suck. its weird i live in the middle of tornado ally for 13 years ive never seen a tornado in person. and they have come as close as 3 mile from my house

  • OMG I was litterly freaking out when this happened I was sooooo scared!

  • Does SLC (or Utah) average a certain amount of Torndado's a year? Or was this just a freak incident. It seemed pretty weak, luckily.

  • We average like 0. Because of the terrain and mountains, tornadoes are highly unlikely and extremely rare. We haven't had a tornado anywhere near here since then.

So for us, its a big deal.

  • @Galastin That's what we thought with the mountains surrounding our city of SLC... LOL Well, they're still unlikely and very rare.

  • It's a rare thing. This tornado caused the first ever tornado death in Utah's history.

  • @dragonridley its even the first utah tornado in history

  • @justinness

It was not the first tornado in Utah history. According to National Weather Service, records the state averages two tornadoes a year. Most are rated F0 and F1. Such tornadoes don't do much damage and are therefore unlikely to make big news. This tornado is well known because it was unusually strong for a Utah tornado (strong F2), hit a major city, and was a killer.

  • dsblu10. yes it was the same tornado that took out the Delta Centers Roof. I was like 3 blocks away from it when it happened

  • 0:53 small explosion

  • Is this the tornado that ripped the Delta's Centers roof off? Haha I was in California when this tornado came.

  • The path of the storm first hit a gay bar on the west side. It then jumped through town right over the top of the new conference center.

A few years later another tornado hit the south end of Manti destroying the lumber yard and demolished a few homes in a polygamist neighborhood.

A warning maybe to the self righteous followers of Joseph Smith?

  • If you say so man...

But I don't see a whole lot of gay people following Joseph Smith. Polygamists think they are, anyways. And more than J.S. followers go to conference centers.

Remember also, that the count in 2004 for LDS was 62.4%, so not all of us in Utah are LDS.

  • One more thing AWOLLDSASAP,

If what you say is true, then God must really hate people that live in the Midwest, I man, he's really throwing down some pretty serious tornado activity over there.

  • Right. God must really hate the Midwest for several centuries now....

Every few years small twisters touchdown at the west flats and a few in the higher elevations.

I'm not saying these tornados were prophetic, "unusual".

  • I know you didn't say it, just seemed like you were suggesting it. Way too many natural disasters all over the world to say God is upset with a certain group of people. I don't doubt God is pretty ticked off at the world though.

  • if you say so.

  • That was a joke. God does not hate the mid west.......

  • @awolLDSasap ...lol /footinmouthagain

  • Praise to da man who deceived and broke his marriage covenant with Emma.

  • This was a warning from God to stop the lies and all the useless temple building, but to help build homeless shelters....more of this type of destruction will come. God is very unhappy with these people..

  • Wow, that sounded like a very personal interpretation God's intent, almost like a prophecy actually:

Amos 3:5. Last time I checked you were not a prophet

1 Peter 1:20 Seeing as you're not a prophet, you cannot interpret the scripture's or give opinions about their meaning.

So sad that someone with the the name "i love christ" is so bigoted against good Christians. Next time you need another lesson on teachings int the bible, this Mormon will be happy to educate you.

    Class dismissed.

  • It was..the proof is in this video...NOW class is dismissed.

  • Touche!

But your numbers are a little skewed. I'm not even going to research that 200 million because even if you are correct that is a ENORMOUS amount! But you're forgetting that the LDS church has 400 welfare farms and 220 canneries for the poor. The world's largest beef ranch in Florida with 312,000 acres is, you guessed it, owned by the church and is for the poor. All of which give all of their products to the poor at no charge and are fully staffed by volunteering LDS members....cont....

  • The LDS church also has 5,000 "service missionaries" which are full time missionaries that are not paid. They do not preach the gospel, their only job is to assist and serve for the needy and poor.

All of these services are provided to anyone regardless of religion or creed, all we're trying to do is follow the example and teachings of Christ.

Instead of tearing us down maybe you can join in the fight to care for the poor, the widowed and the fatherless.

  • You should really check your so called "for the poor free of charge" claim. My brother an RM, Vietnam vet, is unable to get even a simple box of food from the LDS church because he has not paid his tithing. Duh. The so called "Poor" are ONLY for members of the CHURCH that are active and PAY!!! My brother now relies on a non-denominational church for food. Such Hippocrates And how much is 10% from 50 billion? Yes, 5 billion, that is how much the LDS church should spend on the poor.

  • @kurtharris21 I disagree. Capitalism creates growth and prosperity religious offerings don't.... teach a man to fish?

  • Big numbers? Growing fast? Enormous welfare?

You need to check out how much of your churches money goes to help the poor.

It's a very, very small amount of the gross.

  • First, the obvious is not a prophecy.

    Second, you are not Christian.

Third, stop claiming you are Christian.

4rth, out of several billion Christians world wide, none of them would consider Mormonism Christian.

5th, you have an invented religion where members worship the church.

  • First, God doesn't exist.

    Second, The End.

Who cares what religions are Christian and what ones aren't. Overall the Catholic church is one of the most corrupt and greedy out there. Just read any history book. All religions are invented pal. None of you are linking reliable sources to what you're even saying about donations and what not. Pointless and stupid. Oh also, I was like 13 when this rare ass tornado hit. Aweesomme.

  • @ skarudeboy77 God does exist, some people just refuse to believe in Him.

Second I have a reliable source to tell you, the Bible.

Third, Tornadoes are awesome but I dont like them hurting people.

  • First, Ok, I don't care because I know what I believe.

Second, The bible is hardly a reliable source. I wasn't talking about a source for proving god exists(there isn't one at the moment). I was talking about donations.

Third, I just thought It was awesome that I got to witness something that rare. Thxbai.

  • yeah it was cool to see that twister. I didnt get to I was 30 miles away at the time.

  • oh man hows dis possible

  • i remember that..

  • Mormons are such weirdos...they are as bad as islamists...I'm sur their kids will look like the guys in Wrong Turn Movies very soon....sick planet!

  • I know right! I get so pissed when I see all the mormons on TV shouting death to everyone else and strapping bombs to themselves and blowing up women and children. Seriously, where do they get off?! And pretending to be one of the largest donating non-profit organizations on the planet? Please, they need to be taught a lesson.

  • largest donating non-profit organizations on the planet??

Hardly, Modonna donates more money than the LDS church...check the facts ...

  • Last time I checked Madonna was not a non-profit organization.

The facts: Madonna made $70+ million last year.

Mormon church made 4+billion. Hmmm. Interesting.

Look past your bigotry and see things as they are.

  • In the last 170 year of the LDS church the total cash donations have been less then 200 million, but have taken in more then 50 billion the LDS cult is laughable..

  • I hate it how the mormons say it went "around" the temple even though it wasnt near it.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if it went around it, and it was NEXT to it. Take your Mormon bashing somewhere else....

  • Im not mormon queer.

  • Yeah, retard... That's why I said take your Mormon BASHING somewhere else, because I AM Mormon. Learn to read, please :)

  • Oh. I'm sorry.

  • i remember i was at work in west valley and i actualy saw the clouds turn green as it got darker. i heard thats what happens in the mid west but i've never seen it before. that was some pretty wild stuff.

  • This is great footage by the way. I remember I was backpacking in the uintahs that day, and a huge hailstorm hit hard. Strange time for a hailstorm.

  • I don't get it. Isn't this ten years ago?

  • It is - read the description and recording date.

  • The way the title describes it, I was under the impression this video was going to show how slc looked 10 years after the tornado hit.

So the title is very misleading. The time this video was posted doesn't matter to the audience. It should say "Salt Lake City Tornado, 10 years ago" or "Video of Salt Lake City Tornado posted 10 years later". Another issue with the title is it will be outdated after four months have passed. You'll have to make another one that says 11 years.

  • Good points - we'll see what we can do.

  • @phantomcreamer The title is fine the way it is.

  • @MrNokha That's because they changed it after I commented on it, lol.
