  • It's too slow... The original isn't even this slow.

  • Isn't it "Praise Him! The Lord! Praise Him!" And then "Praise Him with the timbrel" ect?

  • I also have our recording of it up on my page

  • my college is doing this this year...it's an awesome song, easily done by memorization...i hope that you were able to do it from memorization for this recording

  • We sang this for districts last year!! Fantastic piece!

  • Im singing this song with my whole districts schools and it is going to sound amazing! I sing it with just my class and I get chills Im gonna flip out with all the choirs. And we also took out the solo in this song cuz known of us could sing it just right with that voice added into it. Lol but it is a wonder song <3

  • I remember singing this song

  • I love this song! I first sang it at All Region last year, and it sounded so amazing! I hope I get a song as good as this one at All Region this year

  • Omg I just sung this song tonight yays we did good ;)

  • OMG my choir sung this exact same song a few years ago and I've been trying to find it ever since. Thanks so mush from a member of Gloria Dei YC!

  • I'm a tenor... and I concede defeat to the cool part of this song to the basses.

This is very well performed. I'm so impressed by their intonation. With this song, the slightest intonation problem really blares, well done!

  • Man the soloists killed it! Wow what voices. Congradulations!

  • @theevmeister what makes you think they're white? I didn't get that notion

  • @donneboy2009 Wow, actually it was full of black people.I know i am a little late replying to this, but this comment was not needed. It is just the arrangement of the song and the choir keeping to the classical nature of the composition. Please do not comment with anymore ignorant comments.

  • This sounds really good!

  • i love this song

  • @donneboy2009 lol awesome

  • For anyone who desires a biblical understanding of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel.

  • a choir that i was in sang this, it was fun, glad i was able to find it, thanks for making this

  • im singing this in concert today at 730, im kinda nervous lol

  • @donneboy2009 your a faggot.

  • i remember when we sang this tune in choir for Jefferson High School. im not religious but this song sounded so awesome!!! and now i love it!! lol

  • @theevmeister thanks!!!

  • I have to agree that the soloist does not sound very much like a soloist. The choir was wonderful and the piano was exciting :)

  • Kewl beans. We did this for GMEA Allstate last year (: It was awesomely kewl~!

  • Ahhhh memories...=)

  • my all county choir is singing this!

    I love this song!

  • broward right? ha, me too

  • Yeah! my choir is singing this too! We're singing it for this opera guy called Simon Estis. or something like that...anyway, i LOVE this song!!

  • pretty good, except at the very end it's "you oughta you oughta praise Him"

  • @SuperOvenMitt Of course. our mistake... our *entire* choir's mistake. or, OR! maybe the director changed it... -_-

  • @SuperOvenMitt If you listen while reading along to Jeffery L. Ames' composition then, yes, many instances of "HIm" are changed to "God."

  • Oh YEAH! I forgot all about this song! I loved singing this. This one was really fun. ...wait a minute...was this the song that I... I think this is the song that I had the great big gospel solo at the end of!!! It is! In my choir, this was MY song! HAHA I had almost forgotten about that. Man, this song was fun. We didn't do it so stacatto and polite though "let everything that hath- breath" We did it much more gospel styley.
  • we did this for all state auditionss :)

  • this is part of the all state audition in iowa

  • My school choir is doing this song in our Fall Concert. I'm excited; it's a great song :)

  • I love this song except for the very ending... dunno why. Maybe cuz it leaves musical and sounds like a church congregation? And doesn't really fit the rest of the peace? Maybe if you drew out the yooooouuu outtta yoou outtaaaa PRAISE GOD or something like that instead of what's written. Well anyway.

It's not slow... if it was any faster, it'd be like running away with itself :) Speed it up yourself and see :P I'm excited about doing this for TBAS this year!

  • are high school choir killed the song wen we sung it for are finale concert at Millbrook High School in Raleigh NC

  • Soloist ahahaha!!!!!

  • I have recently just last year have had the pleasure of working with mr.aims as a director and have sighned sheet music of this song.

  • seems a little slow...the score says 130 bpm

  • i will be doing this for all state in NC in may

  • we'll b singing this in las vegas in 2 weeks! cant wait!

  • i sang it in a huge group in east tennessee's freshmen choir it was the best song by far

  • our allstate did this song last weekend. it was great

  • i did the solo at the miami honor chorus!

    amazing song

  • hey, i sang in the miami honor chorus too hahaa. Did you go to all state? Im from killian.

  • yeah, i was the little guy that did the solo with other 3 guys!!i did go to all state, tenor 1

  • My school's doing this. I love this song...I need to learn the solo for it though ...

  • See... I'm not feelin the "hallelujah praise gods name for 'gods worthy' to be praised", why oh why did you guys change the words of the score? "for God's worthy" is way too much too say at that point. :(

  • :/ agreed.

  • they cahnged it to be politicaly correct. When i tried out, is when they changed it. But in the concert, the guy who wrote it was directing and he changed it back! haha

  • Good, lol. I imagine Ames would have done that. It doesn't make sense musically, rhythmically, or politically. When you say PC do you mean that some ppl would have been offended that the choir refers to God as a man?

  • totally agreed. "he's worthy to be praised" sounds much better than "god's worthy to be praised". PCness is bullshit. i'm from texas, i sang this a few years ago in region. wonderful song

  • I sang this song in the festival of gold and dr armstrong changed everything referring to God to... God hahaa. It wasnt a big deal, but thats the way he wanted it so... why not, he knows what hes doing

  • well i hope he wasn't just bending to political correctness. also i hope he wasn't just giving in to faulty lyrical memories in his choir...

  • was this an audition piece for this year?

  • i love this song! the choir at my school is singing it. :D im singing it ALL the time.

  • im gonna sing this for my all-state this year, and i like it alot, just i wish u would have made it feel a bit more like gospel, it kinda sounded like it was, a really good classic choir sining gospel, but i still liked it :D oh and in stead of sayin praise god, were saying praise him.

  • Same, the guy that compossed the song is teaching us this song at a collage.

  • during our performance of this song during the long reaped part tward the end.... my choir director did this obnoxious dance ... for those of u who know who it is ... if u know... i was a bit embarest (lol i cant spell... 3:30 am) and they had us sing "praise god_, "praise him"

  • um...was the soloist having sex for the first time when she sang this song?

  • :'D!!!!!!!! you would think so wouldn't you?

  • perv. :/

  • actually, she sounded more like a special ed person to me. I was going to say good for them, letting the special ed girl do her thing, in all sincerity.

  • Comment removed

  • @drock2170

This is a grossly unwarranted comment. I hope you will focus on developing more self-respect, respect for God, and for others!

  • @lhigh86090

    ...shut the hell up.

  • well the clapping wasn't exactly us. it was that one obnoxious guy in the middle of the auditorium who thought it'd be funny to start clapping alone at 1:00

  • Well the clapping is very appropriate for the piece, so I would hardly call the guy obnoxious. It is a gospel piece after all. After listening again, I can hear that your accompanist had some problems. Also, I don't agree with the text changes. I understand that many honor choirs were changing the text for honor auditions, but I still wonder why.

  • yeah, we were wondering that as well.

  • Also, during the parts where you said "Let everything that hath breath praise, the, lord...." when you go piano all of a sudden and GRADUALLY crecendo, yeah...you guys weren't quiet enough in the beginning of that little crecendo section and got louder too soon. Don't take it personally, take it as constructive critism. Oh also, the soloist...was...sorry I didn't like the way she did the solos.

  • yeah. gotta love the spirit, but eh... i would tend to agree with you.

  • Yeah I did like the spirit. =]

Although I must agree wuth johnathangibbs. This is one of the better recordings I've heard on this song. =]

And I did like the clapping. I wish my conductor would let us do the clapping on this song. XD

The soloist's voice I did like, it's just the way she carried the notes. They were too all over the place and lasted too long. =/

  • Yay! Another video to critique. This one is actually one of the better ones that I've seen, and I am glad that someone posted it. I don't agree with falling snow on a lot of his/her comments. The soloists had the best ideas that I've heard in all of the youtube vids, also the clapping was a nice addition. I'm still waiting to see that rockin performance though.

  • o.o Interesting job. I thought it was...ok. Not enough stacato on certain parts. Overall too legato for a spritual. I'm doing this song too in my high school choir and I can read music.
