kalmyks are not turkics. the voice sounds like north korean song because north korea has communizm, which was in ussr, north korea adopted something from the soviet culture (songs, some types of drawing - constructivizm). kalmykia was a part of ussr. so, we may say, that it is not the same as your arirang. in addition, not only korea has such type of music and singing.
This music is somehow very sorrowful and in the same time there is a lot of hope and it touches deeply your soul. In some of our Finnish folk music songs have same features.
the same lineage will surely make music also familiar. korea is from northern lineage where others like china is from more southern. japan is more mixture of northern.
This is is very charming music. The girls are also fantastic. We very rarely have an occasion to enjoy and listen to that kind of music and dance . Many thanks to Kalmykia people.

if i heard this without any visuals, i'd relate this to non other than korean, especially northern part.

yes, yes! exactly i felt the same as you!
northern Korean melodies(both trad and commie)
are like this. i wonder if we share the same musical
notations as these Siberian peoples. their language
also sound familiar to our ears. i learnt these ethnical
peoples are called Oirat, Buriyat.. maybe Turkics.
