  • Looks like Star wars ...

  • @MrArkadin ahahahahahahahahahh you're great! ahhaah

  • This really sucks, Bayreuth has really sunken to new lows. OMG to have Weiland Wagner alive again.

  • thumbs up if woot brought you here.

  • People who have no imagination or artistry create crap such as this.

  • what shit that staging

  • I love this production!

  • Glorious music, but the Rhinemaidens are either wandering around in pistons to a 1952 Studebaker or cavorting in pneumatic tubes. Every time I get in the mood for a less traditional production, I wind up with something like this. Thank God for Otto Schenk.

  • @prchristman Otto Schenk started out in opera, 1963, with a brilliant LULU in Vienna, then went sour and created this non-think productions at the MET. Dreadful.

  • @rumpwrestler I'm anxious to see the upcoming new Met production of the Ring. My ideal is a production that's thought-provoking and challenging, and that allows me to see the operas in a new way. That's perhaps not Schenk, but the staging in this clip is more puzzling than anything else. Speaking only for myself, there's a disconnect here between story and music, and what I'm seeing. I much prefer Schenk to this, even though the best course might be a good middle ground.

  • They certainly sound like they're swimming and flowing along.... but where exactly are they in this horrendous production?

  • @Jaydoggy531

right before Sigfried comes to talk to them at the riverbank in Gotterdammerung

  • @fastborzoi

My question was actually referring to the location in this production. I know what's happening in the original story, but am wondering how this set relates to it. On a visual level it's interesting, but it's like it's the perfect set for a totally different show.

  • Great singing here and good orchestra , but dont know if the glass tubes go very well , looks like they are working for an oil industry .
