Looking at their image here and the image they had later into the 2000s, I don't think they were initially meant to be marketed as a "boy band".I think once BSB started making ALOT of money for the record labels,they decided to put NSYNC in the same direction - matching outfits, sequins, the bubblegum sound. Its a shame bc if they would have kept this more simplistic, ensemble style then people would have taken them more serious as the artists they really are and they'd probably still be around.

Even Britney never intended on doing a bubble gum pop album, she wanted to do something contemporary. If you look at the video of her that was sent to record labels, she was singing songs like 'Open Arms' and Christian Christmas music. I think it was Hanson and the Spice Girls popularity that had a big part in this change.

God I feel so old now watching this. I was 17 at the time when this song came out. This was their first hit when N Sync first came out and ladies use to go crazy for them when I was back in high school. Girls use to pump this song loud back in the days. Those were the days when N Sync were bad boys. Now Justin is doing bigger things movies more money than music. There is not enough money anymore in music today.
