If you want to use it as a clock, just pick a side and hang it up, set the time and leave it alone, not rocket science, it doesn't matter what side is up, pick one before you people start slamming the poster, Youtube videos dont have to be scientific and perfect, thats the good part in here, there really is no rules, well in most cases. If all videos were perfect, they would run for months at a time just to cover everything possible, but that might work either.

actually my step dad has a clock that resembles this one... except smaller, his clock has two small electric motors that drive two different sets of gears, one set of gear is for show, while the other actually makes the clock go... then again having gears tell you the time is something that we have done for centuries... nothing new

BUT it really really needs a warning on it though ... NO buyers/observers with long hair are to be let within a certain distance of this clock or else... The builder might want to watch some "Max Headroom" for some insight there (the black and yellow warning stripe would look perfect with this I'd think). Other than that, a LOVELY peice of machining precision and the motion of the whole thing is kind of relaxing as well. Great job!
