Star Wars was the last of the movies to be seen in the theater multiple times after it was on TV. I remember after a year it was first aired on CBS it was re-released in the theater. It was not until Return of the Jedi was released on tape that Star Wars was left on VHS. Ironically the original version was only released twice;1977 then the last DVD copy. All the other copies have Episode IV A New Hope on them.
@BondFreek The Empire Strikes Back was re-released at least twice, once in 1981. The third time it was for two weeks only (but it won it's box office weekend against new releases).
@BondFreek Don't get angry dude. Movies is a broad term (Star Wars was the last of the movies, could be interpreted as movies in general). The Star Wars trilogy WERE the last of the movies that had succes in re-release. They're have been others like Raiders of the Lost ark and The Rocky Horror Show (outside of midnight showings). Of course the Disney movies. But Star Wars represented the most Box Office draw back then.
@mofrakker "Movies is a broad term" No Shit Sherlock. That is why I used it. It was you who had to point out that Star Wars was not the only one with "The Empire Strikes Back was re-released at least twice". I'm angry because you CAN'T READ! WHY CAN'T YOU READ JOHNY, WHY?
LOL.....Im sorry THAT WAS so funny...LOL...I uess it is where your from...on how you pronounce ...but it was hillarious.....had to rewind and make sure i heard it right......
