@alwaysabstract1 actually the clave rhythm originated in Africa. The Clave was then brought to Cuba because of the slaves trade. The slaves brought the rhythm to Cuba and Latin music actually derived from Africa.
were the black ppl at acecc is the place for african drumming i can cut all u mfs up by my self check out esoke africn drumming ensemble all african and 1 light skin
My only problem is that nobody looks like they want to dance, but there is one person bobbing their head. Loosen up don't be so robotic! Groove a little!
I think that it wonderful seeing all of those young people addressing West African culture from the perspective of drum poetry. Race (a pseudo-scientific concept), culture (difference in how things are done), racism (based on a myth), and chauvinism (we are best)should not blemish the fine work of the teacher and students. It's a new world and we must look at each other positively. Good work deserves praise!
i know how hard it is to teach a big group to drum in rhythm, so good job, but maybe try giving each a different part? and don't try to be the center of attention if you're the teacher. other than that, pretty good
none of them really look like they're feeling the rythm, its like an army of drumming robots, and i love how the "egotistic" teacher steals a huge solo at the beggining just to show off. Otherwise it was good.
Honestly, why do some people have to be so miserable? It's great that they're learning about different music styles and having a go. You don't have to live in an Afrian village to appreciate their music.
Those are the funniest looking "African Drummers" I've ever seen. Where is the village. Where is the Black African people. Where are the grass and mud huts. This looks like a music class of a bunch of yuppie kids in NYC.
Dear hockpooh37, First of all, your an idiot. The quote-un-quote "African Drums" you so ignorantly shot down as not authentic are calledkpanlogo drums, which originate from Ghana and other parts of West Africa (look it up). Second of all, not every one who plays African drums lives in grass mud huts or needs to be black. Maybe you should dig yourself out of the closet of a world that you live in and try experiencing some diversity like these yuppie kids from NYC are capable of doing.
i cant take this seriously without any black guys..... its just not the same.

Why would African drumming have a clava rhythm under it? I hope this is a high school lesson or something!
