This advert and others were created at a time when there were no consoles or internet or tv channels dedicated to childrens entertainment..Kids would actually leave the house to play.Long adventures during the summer holidays up the woods or by rivers and canals.Much simpler times and i miss them :(

@Killieguy84 Yes, that reminds me of my childhood. I lived coast to the coast and the summer holidays were one big adventure. The outdoors was our playground . We would play war in the woods with sticks as guns and everything was one big adventure. No mobiles or play stations . I think late 70s we did get one of those tennis games for the tv which was basically two paddles knocking a ball back and forth for hours.Change is inevitable but not always for the best.

@mistofoles,you are very much correct!the full length ad had rolf talking to some quite well spoken children about why its good to swim,and yes they do sort of dunk him.the ad also featured a fun pool with slides and waves,something we didn t get where i live until the mid 80s

The curious thing about that version of the ad was that the end had been cut off. In the original, the kids are seen pushing his head down into the water. This was later deemed irresponsible and likely to cause accidents and thus it was chopped down to a still of Rolf before he goes into the water.
