  • I enjoy watching the video because of the drama, but there is just so much wrong here. Like the jet not even rotating before reaching the opposing touchdown zones, the camera operator nearly being decapitated, the roar of the Kuznetsov engines followed by car alarms going off, then the mountains and the thunderhead buildups! That's too much excitement on takeoff for me!

It's a good thing that heavy widebodies are no longer scheduled into Tivat.

  • i want to build a house for my stepmother right there

  • Great plane! 31 years of operation not claimed the lives of 1 passengers.

  • Oh-Shit man: I'm gonne loose my mind!

  • I used to watch il-86's (or an IL-86) climb out of Izmir (I was living in Gaziemir real close to the Airport). It was a loud, slow, gently climbing beast that was just majestic to watch.

As others have pointed out, it's completely untrue to say Russian aircraft are not well built. They have a durability that's considered unneeded in may parts of the world.

  • @BDKR Thank you! Someone who understands aviation properly!

  • i'm pretty sure there should be a fence somewhere!!!

  • turn at the end pilots like shit were headed 4 d mountain!

  • where's the POWEEEERRRRRRRR?

  • @MrRandomppl you do know this is an intentional method to save fuel...

  • great plane....

  • As we say in Russia

"Il-86 lifts off the runway due to the curvature of the planet"

  • Is that Tivat airport in Montenegro?..I don't think so.

  • @steamthetube. This is definitely Tivat. Unfortunately, currently only 'borring' narrow bodied planes land at this airport....

  • Great plane, too bad today there is no more civil IL-86 in service and only 4 of them are operated with Russian air force..

  • Nice take

  • Typical Russian transport....underpowered and lousy hot/high performance.

  • In russia made with love.

  • No the IL-86 is by no means one of the safest aircraft around it is slapped together and is not safe plus its Russian made

  • @trainfreak7745 Its safe as its allowed to fly just like all other commercial airliners, its maintenance and pilot training that matters.

  • @Pvjinflight russian made aircraft are known to be unsafe but i do agree with you that maintenance and pilot training do matter

  • @trainfreak7745 Nah really their design itself isnt unsafe, they have bad statistics just because most of them were operated in soviet union that had bad air safety, and now they are operated mostly in developing countries and in Russia by smaller airlines with not so good safety -> more crashes.

  • @Pvjinflight ok maybe but still russian aircraft are ones people are usually reluctant to go on if they fly Airlines with Boeing and Airbus

  • @Pvjinflight ok maybe but still russian aircraft are ones people are usually reluctant to go on if they fly Airlines with Boeing and Airbus

  • @trainfreak7745

I disagree, you have to differentiate between accidents caused by direct failure of aircraft equipment and accidents caused by circumstances such as weather, pilot errors and other causes. I think it's an urban legend IMO.

  • @ballebanan ok i will give you that but idk maybe you are right its just something about them makes me feel they are unsafe

  • @trainfreak7745 how so "russian made aircraft are known to be unsafe"? russian airplanes are safe same as boengs or airbuses.

  • @kolja2003 Sorry, but no country in the right mind would buy Russian passenger planes. My country (India) buys fighter jets from Russian and they are known to crash and kill our pilots due to malfunctions. Although the new Russian and Indian fighter jet seems good

  • @LOLMAN22 Acually what indian fighter jets crashed are those produced by licence on indian airbuilding plant. It was indian Mig21 clone. Very old plane. You must learn facts better.

  • @kolja2003 I just looked up some more info and according to our Air Force chief the crashes were mostly due to inexperienced young pilots. BTW we don't produce MiG's we bought old ones from Russia and usually we have Russian technicians repairing them etc.

But anyway the new Russian Indian Sukhoi PAK FA is a step up in the right direction. But still I will feel much safer in an American made passenger plane though :P

  • @LOLMAN22 Feelings and beleives ar estrong things. No facts or logic may convince against strong feeling. That is why all ads technics work. They target your feelings not your logic.

BTW check HAL site. They say that they produce Mig21 and Mig27 variants.

  • @trainfreak7745 Russian aircraft are actually quite rugged, and if you had researched the IL-86, you'd know it has an excellent safety record.

Only one accident involving fatalities and no accidents involving passenger fatalities.

"slapped together" ...you seem to be making things up, bro.

  • @trainfreak7745 on what grounds can you say what you say?If maintainance was on this aircrafts like it is on airbus and boeings from lufthansa and air france, this aircraft and other russian builst aircrafts would be just as safe as any other aicrafts.it all depends on how you maintain your things.drive a car on salty roads without washing it and it will rust away for you.still drive it on salty roads but wash it a couple of times per week, and your car will last.MAINTENANCE is everything!! :D

  • @trainfreak7745 You clearly have little knowledge, the Il-86 has NEVER had a crash, so explain to me how this is not a safe aircraft? Russian made aircraft are the sturdiest around, the reason they get bad press is because the companies that operate them simply do not maintain them, is the same companies owned Airbus and Boeing, it would be exactly the same. Your a pretty shit aviation fan if you can only appreciate the well know aircraft, stop following everyone else!

  • @j4cko56

another reason why they have such bad reputation is because they are russian. Cold war attitudes DO still exist.

  • @ie210 another fool who doesn't know what they are talking about, and you clearly never will.

  • @j4cko56

    im agreeing with you genius

  • @ie210 Sorry! I totally miss read what you said, very sorry :L YES, this is true lol

  • @kris1991 You got it right.

  • Make sure your insurance is paid up b/4 getting on overloaded russian airplane.

  • It's too heavy. It would barely climb and had to manoeuvre through terrain. Scary. Poor piloting skills, bad judgement to operate overweight.

  • @gonetoworkbbackin5mi No, IL-86 is just so underpowered that it needs lots of runway even when normal weighted. Its airlines fault that they flew that route with plane that isnt suitable for that airport, airline tells pilots what to do. Also shows bad general safety of aviation in that country as they were allowed to operate there. But bad piloting, no.

  • @gonetoworkbbackin5mi

Poor piloting skills meaning what? Not pitching up before rotate speed?

  • @ManfredZaturek IL-86 is very underpowered plane, I wouldnt be surprised if they just had reached rotate speed when they rotated.

  • @Pvjinflight

Sure thing. It's an old plane with lots of reaction time in the engines etc. Question is, how come skills are poor when you have calculated your take off weight and compared it to runway length and weather data etc, and ended it up with pulling the yoke when you have to pull. I don't think they survived just by chance.

  • @ManfredZaturek Ah yeah I totally agree with you, I read your comment wrongly when I posted my comment. I thought that you meant that they kept plane on the ground after rotate speed like someone suggested. Now when I read it I understand, probably I was a bit tired when I commented. :D

  • @Pvjinflight

No problem. It was a bit tight, we can agree on that too:)

  • @ManfredZaturek The IL-86 isn't that old of a design. It was introduced in 1980, but its a bit underpowered for its size, and the whole choice of NK-86 engines something of a stop-gap until the PS-90 high-bypass engines were ready (this IL-96 is essentially a regined IL-86 with PS-90s). The NK-86s don't handle hot weather, high altitudes, heavy weights, or Tuesday afternoons very well. I always wondered if it would be possible to modify IL-86s with new engine pods for PS-90s and make a DIY IL-96

  • @LoveMeLoveMyDog80 No IL-86 was refitted with Aviadvigatel PS-90 engines... :D

  • @ollo1982 Yea, i was aware they weren't refitted, but wondered if you could, though you'd need new engine mounts... just maybe! ;)

  • @LoveMeLoveMyDog80 Yea it would work perfectly, but guess they then should be refitted with new glasscockpits to,to take it up to modern today standards... Really wish they would do it,because the il86 and 96 is great aircrafts :D :D :D

  • @LoveMeLoveMyDog80 And it was not underpowered... it had a takeoff roll at about 2800 metres(9190 feet) at MTOW,and that is shorter than many planes at the same size... would say the IL-86 was pretty much correctly powered :D

  • is this bitch bigger than airbus a380?;)

  • crazy!!!!

  • Those things really are gentle climbers. I used to love watching them lift off out of Izmir.

  • if anyone over here knows anything about airplanes, they should know that when any aircraft has the proper amount of speed needed to takeoff whether or not the captain pulls up the plane itself starts to pull up. Nothing wrong whatsoever with this takeoff just ignorant people that decide to chirp

  • @rmanintheny I'm gonna go ahead and call BS on this one.

  • 1:43- Epic takeoff!

  • Váóó!!!!

  • These guys just give full power and pull on the stick and wait till the plane rotates from its own

  • @zfreak90 I doubt that, IL-86 is just underpowered

  • @Pvjinflight Or you mean maybe overloaded? :)

  • @zfreak90 Well yeah, same thing. :)

  • it was scary looking at it from here, i wonder of they shat there pants lol

  • wtf... looks criminel :)

  • It took off at 10.31 A.M. It should have taken off at 10.30 A.M. so that means it was a late take off..............I caculate by one minute.

  • I'm assuming that the pilot intended to climb up over the mountains, and not plow right into them right?

  • Too heavy with inferior power!!!

  • Hear the alarm of the car short after take-off... LOLLLL.. That was extremely low!

  • thats why planes shouldnt have the same engines as a lada

  • @generalhans1 lol

  • @generalhans1 These engines have more than enough power. Just a short field with a loaded plane.

  • omg!!!!! crazy

  • why werent' they moving up faster, they were going towards the mountains!

  • @ryanjames731 the engines are underpowered

  • @ryanjames731 to heavy thats why

  • This plane is under powered. The Soviets didn't bother with modern technologies. It's also a smoker as a result and many airports with any kind of pollution control does not permit this aircraft to land.

  • Dude... WHAT THE FUCK!!!

He barely made it... lol, watch the tail nearly hitting the ground. These are some serious pilots AWESOME.

  • I have flown in this type of plane quite a few times. Its more like a Boeing 777-200 inside. Boarding can be quite interesting, a free for all.

  • Normal take off. The only thing that was not right about the video is to see people standing that close to the runway.

  • KRAS AIR 4EVER!!!

  • Yikes!

  • Comment removed

  • dat plane look f**king heavy

  • Didn't seem like a late takeoff to me. He still had plenty of runway left. However, this jet is typical of most jets of its design back then...long takeoff rolls and slow rates of climb.

  • Ahhhhh!!! DUCK!!!!

  • @misscat018 small but very loud :))

  • Small ? :) 60m long, empty weight 117t , full weight 215t , 350 ppl onboard. But yes, it's old & loud plane :)

  • @snake24rus Small ? :) 60m long, empty weight 117t , full weight 215t , 350 ppl onboard. But yes, it's old &

  • @Dagronline small engines, i mean :)

plane not so small, i agree. but for example Boeing 747 is more bigger :)

  • @misscat018 No, they're not being used in long range. The Il-86 suffers from lack of range because of underpowered engines and smaller than average wings for widebody aircraft.

  • @misscat018 It's because the USSR at that time lacked a high-bypass turbofan to power widebody airliners. They have to use the NK-86, an upgraded version of the Kuznetsov NK-8 low-bypass turbofans which was used to power the Il-62. Also, the Il-86's wingspan and wing area are a bit too small for an aircraft of its size. Its wings are only slightly larger than that of the 707. Underpowered engines plus smaller wings hindered the Il-86's potential for long-range operations.

  • I love people who love airplanes like them, absolutely beautiful, fun !!!

  • That was scary, sounds like the car nearby didn't like it... I really miss this beast, so thanks for sharing. Cheers!

  • sexy plane.

  • Pilot joke with turists :)))

  • Scare Tactics HEHEHE

Seconds of delay and they all would be dead..

    Great video!

  • Bit loud

  • Jetzt weiß ich auch, warum die sich KRASS AIR nennen ...

  • The commie shit must be heavy. The Airbus A380 can get off the ground fast than that and its 1.4 million puonds and its bigger!

  • This video was stolen and published without my copyright permission!

    Petr Beran

  • @TivatCZ you dont have this video on your channel! so i think he didnt stole it!

  • @hartmax he has it on jetvideos

  • Anyone else hear car alarms at the end of the video?

  • SO-FUCKING-AWESOME! Ил-86 The Best!

  • people like fullmetaljacksquat are the reason most of the world hates the US

  • Stupid were the people at the end of the runway.....

  • Max Takeoff Weight exceed.

  • That looks like he is very heavy on that departure!

  • These Russian pilots take too many risks and are stupid.

  • @kris1991 Americans are all fat and ignorant, Germans are racists with no sense of humour and Italians are lazy in general but not when it comes to women...boy can they ****! That's exactly how you see the world, don't you?

  • @BrianSupreme Are you telling me that it's ok for these pilots to do with they did in this video? They risked the ENTIRE plane and it's passengers, worth many millions of dollars. I think it was a stupid move.

  • what airport??

  • SOVIET POWER; YEAHHHHHHHHH

  • близко пролетел))

  • It JET ENGINE VERY NOISY .IT JET ENGINE Not APPROVE ISO STANDARD NOISE CONTROL JET ENGINE.

  • Rare plane all Avonic still maybe still STONE Age Level Avonic.

  • i have to go here.... where is this @?

  • Weird how people from the "West" are so prejudiced against Russian hardware. The Il-86 has never EVER crashed in passenger service.

  • @cedarjet707 There's no mystery to the West's prejudice against Russian hardware. There is at least 60 years of propaganda against all things Soviet, socialist, populist, etc. That kind of long-term mass conditioning cannot and will not be reversed - the facts be damned!

  • Haha Krash Air, fitting for a russian airline. lol

  • Grossly underpowered. I'd never fly on one. Cool location for spotting!

  • @edmonton67 Used to be that Soviet airliners had plenty of power, including the old Tupolevs and Ilyushins. They were designed to be quickly converted to troop and cargo transports in the event of war. A giant fleet of Aeroflot gas guzzlers was perfectly acceptable to Moscow during the Cold War.

I guess the Il-86 was Ilyushin's attempt to reduce fuel consumption by having engines just barely up to the job.

  • :)

One fat (heavy ) lady taking of here!

The engines of the IL86 is wellknown not to have enough power upon takeoff.

On a varm runway like this, I would have been taken the next flight :)

  • so that airport does not even have a fence????!!!!! Cool!!!!

    BTW, ugly ass plane...

  • @superfestiva Well, you're just "ugly ass"...and this plane is much pretty than you are...

BTW, the really "ugly ass" plane is craptor F22, F 117...or any other of your's yankee's expensive flying shit

  • @corwin557 Let's get the facts straight before you start insulting without knowing...First of all I'm not a "yankee", I'm from the Dominican Republic...if you have a problem with the USA, that is not my problem...

Second of all, that plane to me is ugly...I don't have anything against russian planes...to me the IL-62 is the sexiest plane AND it is russian...I love to see them take off @ SDQ and @ BOG airports since they are so big and sleek...

I did not make any personal insults to you, so chill

  • @superfestiva Well, my fault...I don't have a problem with USA or americans, sometimes I do have a paper wars with yankees, but it's not a problem, if you know what I mean.Your comment looks like yankee's yelling...that's why you've got my "insult" answer...my fault, sorry. Nice beaches you have there.

  • @corwin557

no problem dude...we are cool...maybe because I was raised in american schools I may sound or look american, jejeje...

Regarding the beaches....hell yeah, I love my country due to the beaches...

    Take it easy bro...

  • Amazing video! Thanks for posting. I haven't read all the replies, but I take it it was filmed at Ljubljana airport? (LJU)

  • Hey you! Its forbidden to stand in the aircraft area on this airport!

  • Positive rate of climb yet? Nop. Ohh well gear up anyway.

  • Holy SHIT!... omfg.. no words.. just So Close.. almost Overweight

  • Russian planes are shit

  • it seems it would never have a positive rate

  • Kras Air. "Crash Air". Lol

  • Just imagine a VC-10 or a BAC 1-11 taking off on the same runway..

Those planes are among the noisiest on record and the eardrums of those people standing close to the runway would've burst.

  • Typical russian pilot. Obviously they dont give a damn about safety or weights and balances before take off.

  • @coolsax64 U are really funny or stupid man.

U use alot of runway to get more speed when u climbing, its a way of saving fuel.

  • @Kambanicity How much fuel are you going to save when you extend a take off run by 2-3 seconds? Higher speed on the runway also increases a risk of tire explosion and with landing gear down and on the ground you have poor aerodynamics and additional resistance.

  • Best noise afterwards, setting off car alarms.

  • You can't say it's one of the safest airplanes. There is just such a small number of planes...

  • shit mate, I gotta go to Russia

  • amazing takeoff! amazing plane!

  • in soviet Russia, the plane takes off when its ready

  • "the IL-86 is one of the safest airliners around, with only one fatal accident." - In order to know anything about the safety record of an aircraft type, you need to take divide the number of accidents by the total number of flight hours of the entire fleet. The absolute number of accidents is meaningless.

  • @ryanhaart Well, small number of accidents means that either planes were incredibly safe or there were few of them or they were not used very intensely. There was only one fatal accident of Il-86 and it was ferry flight without passengers so ICAO ignores it in their statistics, therefore number of fatal accidents per 100000 flight hours equals 0 for this plane.

  • The video description is full of nonsense. "A takeoff like this [...] is also very dangerous." - No it's not. If it was dangerous, it would not be allowed. "Just imagine what will happen to this jet when an engine fails" - So what? Before V1 the takeoff is rejected and after V1 the takeoff is continued, the failed engine shut down and an emergency landing carried out on the remaining 3 engines. What do I need to imagine?

  • spectacular!!! very nice video!!

  • cool and rare

  • I bet they could fel the heat from that sucker. lol

  • @jimmywacked

Not a 707 clone at all, it is in an entirely different class comparable with the DC-10.

  • @unusmultorumm four engines DC-10.

  • @unusmultorumm I can see where he got the 707 vibe though. It looks like a DC-10 with the wings and tail of a 707.

  • @jimmywacked I think its more sexy then the 707 tbh :P

  • @Opiuth ~On the old Boeing707....Ever see the Large phallic VHF antennae on the tip of the Vertical stabilizer ? No that's sexy, dude. google 707 and check it.!

  • @jimmywacked ok then u pm me the link of that pic....cause to me 707 looks like a stuffed turkey for thanksgiving.

  • @jimmywacked

You fucking Bitchkopp, The IL86 is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever build

  • @Scheissdirindiebux * I agree with Jimmy / 707's rule!.

Russian crap? who buys it.? -but 3rd or 4th world countries. shize-!

    Russian made= => #FAIL .

  • @FullMetalJackSquat

Well I love the 707 aswell but saying that s an ugly 707 clone is just gay

  • @jimmywacked ...maybe A340 is ugly 707 clone too?

  • @jimmywacked Your comment is ugly clone of russophobe's yelling and performance of your "knowledge" about jet planes. Sorry for my rudeness: I'm "savage" russian, I drink vodka, I walk with bear and I "hate" USA and whole "civilized" western world...according to your stereotypes, I guess.

  • @jimmywacked fuck off, its nothing like a 707, in ANY way at all. Plus tbh is one of the best looking aircraft around.

  • @j4cko56 UGLY piece of Shize. Waste of a widebody..you damn commie.. { he almost killed people just off the runway.! } scarey pilot and airplane..Sorry - truth spoken.

  • @FullMetalJackSquat commie I AM BRITISH you fucking IGNORANT prick!!!! your a prick..Sorry - truth ;)

  • @j4cko56 BRITISH.? .pfft - I woulndnt ever admit to that. -Long live your queen..and you freekin 'Concorde' (pussy)..As Stated before...NOT BOEING?→ NOT GOING..!

  • @FullMetalJackSquat your the single most ignorant arrogant, nasty piece of shit i have ever met, why say that, because you were wrong? Shows a lot, racist bastard.

  • @jimmywacked ugly is right..Only commies fly that peicec of shize.. Ever been on one ? .Huge ass wooden stairs~ no overhead bins→ looks like a open air gym.. Pffft..! shize.!
