Get the f^ck out! 50 watts is 50% metal output. Who plays Krank? Dime? Nope he's dead! I was at the f^cking show in Ohio when he was shot. Besides that no one plays Krank! Peavey or EVH III or Marshall or get the f^ck out!
im looking to buy an amp and im getting a band together. the amp i have right now is a piece of shit and i need something that has a good metal sound and is also loud enough to over power the drums. would the 50w rev jr pro with 4x12s be good for what im looking for?
@childrenofthehorizon Dude... thats way much, lol. Don't believe in all the elitist tone snobs saying that you need a pro rig to play. a 50w tube head with 4 12" speakers is loud enough for an arena, which means its way too loud for band practice or small gigs, which is what you'll be starting out doing. just buy a tube combo amp, trust me, it'll be loud enough. Save up your money for a half stack if you find yourself playing at way bigger gigs, if you want
i dont think amp reviews should include effects or active pickups... it might just be me, but doesnt the fact that hes using active pickups kinda fuck the whole review of the amp?
@stupidplants i dont think so, this is an amp for metal, and alot of metal players use active pickups, like me. so its good for me that hes playing with actives...
active preamps are designed to replicate that same sound through all equipment.... anyone telling you otherwise just wants your money... theres a sucker born every minute.
@stupidplants No, you are making no sense, active preamps works like some kind of buffer thats boosts and color the sound of the pickups, giving it a high output and gain.
I have 3 amps at home and another 3 amps in the studio i play in, and my guitar (with active pickups) sound different on each of them.
Also, i cant even count the number of amps i played with my guitar, and each one sounds different
@AraGuitar It`s more of a amp voicing mid shift but Paul has no clue how to dial in the amp for anything other than rock tones.Think bass heavy modern sound scoop to mid heavy classic rock no scoop. You can cover way more ground than amps with just a gain knob.
@Mrshreadies i can see how you would think its out of tune with those bends and chords but please trust me, with the 7 years ive been playing, i can tell you that its not out of tune
@THE76OHCREW ive, been playing for 8 years too man, and that guitar is blatantly out of tune. example: 0:29 no weird bends or anything. just because you've been "playing" (that could mean anything) guitar for years doesn't mean you have a good ear for intonation.
but then i tried to switch over channels and it wouldnt. the botton was broken i guess and then i stared thinking what if the amp itself is just broken and its got me looking for a new head. i want to order a new one just to see but im wondering if the krank channel will be just as dissapointing as the one a recived before??? i currently play through a line 6 spider valve and a mesa 2x12 cab. if any of u own the krank whats ur opinion on it??
guys i need your help. so i just got this amp but its the pro this morning and i was so stoked. hooked it up to my mesa 2x12 cab and turned it on. and it started to hum a bit. didnt think much it of and then tried it out clean channel. it was ok and then tried the krank channel. alot less gain then a expected and not to clear. tired hooking up my maxon od808 and boss noise gate. when i turned down the volume on my guitar the hum was still there and with the overdrive it sounded like well.garbage
@punkstrat101 ya i had to replay the end of his riff a few times because the powercord didnt ring out chunky with smooth sustain prolly because its gone out of tune quick or he is to lazy to tune it first
@punkstrat101 seriously wtf, looks like he took a minute or two to make his hair look like a birds nest, but didnt bother hitting the tuner for a second.
Sometimes I think his playing actually gets worse he does more demos, he does a good job of demoing the amps for us though so I cant give him too much crap haha!
@jdparsons1 5881s are a type of 6L6, there are numerous variations of the 6L6, but 5881s are used a lot with amps that are designed to be high-gain in the preamp section while dialing te master back. They give and accurate and efficient image of the signal they are getting from the preamp, kinda like KT88s, only in a pentode.
@DB73093 This head uses 6L6's, if the KT88s were simply too tall, I'd just have to build it a new head cab! Seriously, imagine how killer this head would sound through a 4x12 with 2 V-30s and 2 G12T-75s and JJ's in the pre, Tung Sol Kt88s in the power section! We must make it fit!
Even with a new headshell they wont fit. The tube sockets are too close to each other. Me and a bunch of the guys at the krank forums have gone over this lol. It would sound sick with KT88's though. Theres a user on there with a JR with a custom headshell but has 6l6GCmstr's in his. Sounds sick. Type in on youtube. "Hydrapulse Krank Rev Jr Pro 50"
Krank is easy to get hooked on.The 6l6 tubes currently manufactured are not very good as compared to current el84's but you can still get good nos 6l6's.
@Ender4Ever There is no comparison between these two amps. The krank is a 20 watt tube amp ,the crate is 120 watts all tube.If you play stadiums then i would suggest you get the crate.120 watts will blow your wig clean off your head. The krank is even loud for home use.You would never get to use the crate the way it was intended to use. It's like owning a ferrari and only getting to drive it 10 miles an hour..............
@ACE101896 i played a dean dave signature rust in peace v at guitar center with those pick ups in it and i wasnt greatly impressed but if i bought a guitar and put pick ups in it i would roll emg 81/85 all day may it be personal preference or whatever everyones different
sometimes you shouldnt judge a book by its cover, not this time dont like limited amps that have a lame "clean" channel. All builds from the clean channel. in this case no true clean channel. Having said that the distorted sound can be used
I agree that EMG pickups are dull, but for a demo they do well to show more of the amp. Same goes for brother man's inspiration. He is playing known riffs used by several great bands, and in doing so again he shows the amp and how it sounds for differing styles.
@carlosss931 Krank rev jr is so much better, Krank has a gain channel that second to none and an awesome clean channel thats seldom found on a high gain amp. I have a Rev Jr 50 watt now and it blows my old Peaveys away,
Please DO NOT use guitars with EMG Active Pickups in them to demo gear. The (active's) tone is not good , dull-sounding, for displaying sounds which are not high-gain such as cleans, mild overdrive etc.
Please DO NOT use guitars with EMG Active Pickups in them to demo gear. The (active's) tone is not good , dull-sounding, for displaying sounds which are not high-gain such as cleans, mild overdrive etc.
This guy has a great technique but either he totally sucks when it comes to inspiration or I need to get more into jazz or something cause there is something I don't understand...Great amp by the way!
This guy gives good reviews. We're all getting tired of poorly spoken wannabe guitarists who hide behind mouthing off and gain knobs pinned to hide the fact they are one dimensional musicians. I find this a good review and it helps point me toward what I am looking for in a USA made amp head.
@neverforgotrock I'm not quite understanding...where are you going to find 20 watts of tube tone and power for much cheaper than this? I mean, I don't know of any amps that do more than a few styles well. If you buy an Engl, Mesa Boogie, or Krank, you're not buying them to play the Beatles. They might be geared towards rock, but when an amp can do stuff from The Bouncing Souls to Soilwork pretty well, I consider that versatile.
Why knock the guy , he gives a pretty good no nonsense demo , gives you a fair idea of whats going on with the gear, and allows you to sift through things that dont float you'r boat.Of course you could always get off you arse and get out of you'r bedroom to go check em you'r self.
@winceyV1 Yeah he does a good job in my opinion.Althought the guitar world signature guitar demos could be way better because I dont think ive ever seen him play anything from the guitrist's guitar in which he is using
@JohnnyD0nny completely wrong, i have a krank revolution (not the junior) and it has dropped before off of a 4x12 cab n not even a scratch. it was hardwood floor too! there amps are built crazy, in my band my other guitarist and I both have them and we tour with them with no road cases. they are SOLID!
@JohnnyD0nny alright haha i was confused for a bit. I love Krank too. people think they are just for metal but that is so untrue. the clean channel on the rev is AMAZING. and you can even get a good crunch out of them too.
It's pretty funny if you go to the users page of the people that dogged this guy's playing, they either don't have anything posted, or sound like shit themselves.
Should spend more time practicing and less time dogging the guy who has their dream job. WTF. Awesome amp, the guy demonstrates the basics of it's sound. He is not there to show all his guitar tricks.
Honestly, I don't think this guy is comfortable with metal. That's what his guitar lead part communicated to me, anyway. It just isn't his personality, so it's not awesome sounding.
So are you watching the video to hear the sound of the amp or to critique the guy demo'ing the product? If the latter, you missed the point of the video.
Regardless of his playing, you can get an idea of what the amp sounds like to see if you want to look into it further.
You can find all kinds of idiots driving and crashing Bugatti Veyron's on youtube, but that doesn't make me want the car any less.
This dude does reviews on like ALL of the metal amps and guitars, he did a review on Dime's CFH signature model, an he makes it sound like shit. But then i looked on people just playing it doing covers an things, and it sounded fuckin immense! This guy is clearly not suited to playing metal.
Get the f^ck out! 50 watts is 50% metal output. Who plays Krank? Dime? Nope he's dead! I was at the f^cking show in Ohio when he was shot. Besides that no one plays Krank! Peavey or EVH III or Marshall or get the f^ck out!

Good for metal but doesn't seem to be very warm. One trick pony but probably a good option for metal players.

Why knock the guy , he gives a pretty good no nonsense demo , gives you a fair idea of whats going on with the gear, and allows you to sift through things that dont float you'r boat.Of course you could always get off you arse and get out of you'r bedroom to go check em you'r self.

Hey, you, quit telling people the truth.

@winceyV1 Yeah he does a good job in my opinion.Althought the guitar world signature guitar demos could be way better because I dont think ive ever seen him play anything from the guitrist's guitar in which he is using

Hmm, this or a Bugera 6262 2x12 combo?
ferociouspokemachine 2 years ago
Can't comment on their sound as I haven't heard it in person, but I always hear people talking about the poor build quality of them.
JohnnyD0nny 2 years ago
@JohnnyD0nny It's just because it's made in China
ferociouspokemachine 2 years ago
@ferociouspokemachine are you sure? I have a Krank Rev and Rev+ heads and they are both built in the USA.
Hellad00d 1 year ago
@JohnnyD0nny completely wrong, i have a krank revolution (not the junior) and it has dropped before off of a 4x12 cab n not even a scratch. it was hardwood floor too! there amps are built crazy, in my band my other guitarist and I both have them and we tour with them with no road cases. they are SOLID!
Hellad00d 1 year ago
@Hellad00d I was actually referring to the Bugera, sorry for not being specific. I love Krank!
JohnnyD0nny 1 year ago
@JohnnyD0nny alright haha i was confused for a bit. I love Krank too. people think they are just for metal but that is so untrue. the clean channel on the rev is AMAZING. and you can even get a good crunch out of them too.
Hellad00d 1 year ago
theres no comparison, if you wanna play in your bedroom this. but if your gigging this is a little weak
NicoADTRkusumah 2 years ago
It's pretty funny if you go to the users page of the people that dogged this guy's playing, they either don't have anything posted, or sound like shit themselves.
Should spend more time practicing and less time dogging the guy who has their dream job. WTF. Awesome amp, the guy demonstrates the basics of it's sound. He is not there to show all his guitar tricks.
tsmilliner 2 years ago
Heh yeah. Funny how so many new guitarists seem to think ego is the most important attribute.
bwdevel 2 years ago 4
Honestly, I don't think this guy is comfortable with metal. That's what his guitar lead part communicated to me, anyway. It just isn't his personality, so it's not awesome sounding.
prom3th 2 years ago 2

This guy is clearly not suited to playing metal.
spazmicjosh 2 years ago
Also he has to show a range of tones to appeal to a wide variety of metal sounds... Not everyone listens to the same genre of metal.
FumJ79 2 years ago 3
dude
i hate this guitar player
he dous full of video and he think he can play metal... he ruind the amps's sound
