  • Where can I get the tab for this?

  • cool! can I borow that mike? It also looks cool!

  • The microphone Antonio uses DOES look pretty sexy doesn't it?

  • WTF does race have to do with it? If there's something that you think needs to be improved on or if there's a different stylistic approach that's one thing, but that racial crap doesn't play anymore.

Just what decade do you think this is, anyways?

They don't turn the dogs and fire hoses on African American people in America anymore, and people of all different ethnic origins play all kinds of different music.

    Seriously bro, what the hell?!?!

  • Hey, guys, could u tell me what is the tuning of the harp that kokoro86 is using? I want to buy a harp, only to play this song XD

  • I'm not sure but as I play in the key of G (open G tuning) kokoro86 surely played a C harp

    I'm sure he'll reply, too!

  • Sorry, it's been a while since I popped in. I use a key of C Hohner 'Special 20' harmonica for this song.

It's good to have harps in C and D to start off. The special 20s and Big Rivers seem to play quite well, and of the two types, I prefer 20s.

Most times, to figure out what harp to use, figure out the tonic or root note(key the song is in) and cound up four notes in the scale including the root note.

Alternately, count five notes back including the root note.

    Google 'circle of fifths'

  • Is it a Johnson mw10 resonator?

  • Err, no idea LOL

Got it 2nd hand and just know it's a Johnson

  • I've been eyeballing a nickel-plated, brass-bodied Johnson Reso, a similar Rogue Reso, as well as an Epiphone Biscuit Reso recently.

  • Well, let us see you play it soon :-)

  • Ended up getting a Fender FR50.

It's working out ok as an entry-level reso.

Certainly plays better than the FR48 I tried and several other resos in the same price range...

  • great job!!!!

  • Thanks a lot :-)

  • Thanks Guy! Always appreciate the kudos.

  • This is FRIGGIN AWESOME!!

    *****

  • Thanks a lot canajian :-)

  • Thanks for being so kind.

One of these days we may yet do another team-up.

Antonio, however, is a very busy lad...

The cool thing is, we've both undoubtedly developed as musicians since this project, so the time between projects is definitely not a bad thing in this case..

  • This youtube thing really is fantatstic the opportunities to meet other musicians & improve is quite amazing..

  • Well, hopefully it won'take me a year to record the next one for us, Marc ;-)

  • that deserves 10 stars.

  • Oh, thanks a lot, Marc and I appreciate that a lot!!!

  • Awesome! 5*+

  • Thanks a lot :o)

  • Whoooooooa this is too cool! I found you on another channel, from Germany,---how did you get a blues voice living there....You're really excellent. Loved the video, you're playing, the harmonica....5*'s

    Yvonne

    Ava, Illinois USA

  • LOl, thanks a lot Yvonne.

Well, I guess the blues has become an internationally very successful kind of music, here in Germany, too :-)

By the way, it's not me who's playing the harmonica here, but kokoro86, he's awesome

  • Long time ago, I know, but what was your tuning on the Galveston?

  • Actually, just saw from liner notes that it was a Johnson. Must have had a senior moment there...

  • LOL, never mind I'M in open G here

I used a flat pick and the nail of my ring finger to plug two string simultaneously when playing the riff.

I see a new version of this song coming up here, am I wrong ;-)

Well, would love to see it, anyway!!!!

  • I'm not quite at the singing-while-playing level of coordination just yet.

    Maybe in time...

  • Yeah I understand that, that pretty hard and it takes some time to get that right. So take your time, but I'm sure we'll see some of that on your channel sooner than later :-)

  • This soooooooooooo suits your voice. An instant favourite.

  • Thank youuu :-)

Love the blues, have been playing it for a year and a half or so now and still enjoy it so much

  • terminator 2 ahahahahahahhaha

  • Eh? Non capisco un tubo...

    Whadda you wanna say?

  • Suenan muy bien, felicitaciones!

¿tienes los tabs de la guitarra?

    Saludos,

  • Gracias,

    sorry I don't use tabs, o I don't have any for this one :-(

Ja okay, ist was seltenes

    aber nicht weiter sagen.

  • Hehe, jo mei, mia Bayern san halt a weng onders :-)

  • Well it's kinda funny, Marc, cause it translated

    sorry as "sad" ;-)

Anyway I've ordered a new camcorder and hope to get it before the end of the week!!! ;-)

Happy New Year my blues brother!!!

    Vielen Dank, Ralf!!!

  • Gentlemen,

Very neat. Just met a guy who is also a neighbor, turned me on to your video. I should have considered the harp and guitar more seriously than the stick and ball stuff. I've been packin' around a variety of harps, most of them are Lee Oskar's(one's evenengaraved by him), and I can blow a bit, bend a bit, and just plain make some noise to the trained ear. They are great and easy to haul around instruments, that like any musical instrument, deserves some dedicated time.

  • Thanks a lot, kokoro, the guy who layed harp on this one drops by every now and then and reads the comments, I guess sooner or later he'll find this and reply

  • I've been partial to the Hohner Special 20s recently for the ease of bending and affordability (24-28 dollars CDN)

I also own a couple Lee Oskars too. I especially like the special octave tunings such as High 'G'.

    I agree completely.

The harp deserves dedicated practice time to do it justice.

  • Great collaboration, but above all, what a voice! Wow!

  • Thanks a lot :o)

I add: what a great harp player ... pretty sure we'll do some more!

  • Wow! Love this!!! Just added it to the favs, 5 stars!!!!!! Awesome song, awesome vid! The recording is so clear, what kind of mic is that?

  • Thanks a lot, Candice, I appreciate it a lot coming from a great musician like you.

    I'm using two mics:

    A condenser mic for guitar

A large diaphragm mic for voice.

Thanks again, you out a smile on my face,

    Antonio

  • Ironically, my harp bit is just using the digital camera's mic.

I usually record a short period of silence before I start playing and sample it so I have a sample of pure background noise that I can filter out after the fact with Audacity (freeware).

  • As long as I don't overdo it, it works pretty well. If it's particularly noisy, after I've removed all the noise, what's left can be too tinny.

This method will have to do until the wife let's me encase our appartment in that foamy sound-booth stuff.

(Like THAT'll go over reeeaally well, I'm sure!)

  • Great.Very nice!!

    Hey Maestro, sehr gut...

  • Thanks a lot

    und Vielen Dank :-)

  • Glad you thought so. Since this one noth of us have developed significantly as musicians.

Antonio is acutely quality-conscious, and I'm sure that any future collabs that might materialize from the two of us could only be improvements.

  • acutely quality-conscious??? Wow, I didn't know that that's how I get perceived on YT, but I kinda like that ;-)

    Ciao Marc!!!

  • Thanks from both of us!!!

  • kokoro86 is my uncle!! i was so stoked to see this!

  • Wow, you got a cool blues man uncle for sure!!!

  • What a hot collaboration! Great tune, great vid, great players. How did you physically/technically do the collaboration thing?

  • THANKS a lot!!!

Well we've never met in the real world, unfortunately, cause I live in Germany and kokoro86 lives in Canada. I recorded my bit and send him an mp3 which is why he's wearing headphones. Then he did his part, send me the mp3 and his vid via (all via email) and did the editing with my video editing software. That's it :o)

  • Interesting. Can you get time synch codes into the mp3? Or do you just do a rough synch by ear?

  • Yeah, just by ear.

  • OOOOHH MERDA!

    Siete troppo forti... grandissimi!

    5 stelle + sottoscrizione istantanea

    Antonio

    Antonio

  • buona domenica e buona settimana low life bro!

new five for this incredible cover!

  • Buona domenica a te, grande Pepi!!!

    Grazie delle stars!!!

  • You both are really feeling it. Sounds good. I really like these kind of YT collaborations.

  • Thanks a lot, really appreciate it!

  • hey bentonio this is awesome very cool video too love it big 5 from me.......

  • Thanks a lot, Steven :-)

    Antonio

  • Fantastico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    10 stars, se fosse possibile!!!

    Chuss - Max

  • Grazie tantissimo!!!

  • cool sound,nice harp

  • Thanks, kokoro, will appreciate it, too!

  • Good job on this song.

  • thanks !!!

  • Definitely, but unfortunately also: definitely beyond MY capacities LOL Well, Pride and Joy could become a rrreal long time project :-)

  • 'Hoochie Coochie Man' is a blues standard that is infinitely playable.

In Ottawa where I hail from, we just had Van Morrison, George Thoroghood, Fogarty and a parade of other soulful performers come to play.

Antonio's easygoing demeanour and enthusiasm for blues makes him an able partner for these kind of collabs.

I eagerly look forward to our next one!

  • Oh wow, Marc, I'm flattered by such a comment!!!

Me, I'm as eager as you and we will have another one soon!!!

    Hope your shoulder is better!!!

    Merci, mon ami!

  • Thanks a lot, that's what we had ín mind, too :-)

    Mission accomplished I'd say!

  • yeah man...that's what it's all about....

    ease my worried mind!!!

    peace

  • Thanks a lot, you rock, man!

    And peace!!!

  • Brilliant ! Well done to you both ! Love to know how u do the split screen thing ?

  • Thanks, we both appreciate that.

I use a program called Magix Video DeLuxe, don't know whether it's available outside Germany. Anyway, any video editing software with a price of about 50 - 80 $ should have such a feature I guess

  • Antonio, this is excellent work! Bravo kokoro86! Great collaboration. :D

  • Thanks a lot Aleisha!

    Na, tut's noch sehr weh?

    Hoffentlich ist alles gut gegangen!

    Gute Besserung jedenfalls!

  • Danke Antonio. Geht schon. Immer besser. Danke dir. :)

  • Very nice. Even better than Hey-hey. I love the sound of this delta dobro blues. I should get one dobro. What open tuning did you use? Is it a Jonson dobro? I wanted one too. See my walkin blues... if you were interested :). But I played it only on a crappy ol' guitar.

  • Cool, I'll watch it. prof!

    Thanks for the kind comment!

PS: Yeah it is a Johnson - a crappy one, too LOL

    PPS: We're in open g

  • Drinking one as I type this! Too funny...

  • Cheers and get well soon, buddy!

  • From your lips to God's ears, herr BluesMeister, from your lips to God's ears....

  • Haha, yeah: Yummy that would be good now, very cool comparison!!!

    Thanks a lot.

Man, I'M getting hungry reading this!

  • Yeah, he definitely does: but be warned he'll get addicted to it LOL

    Thanks for watching, my friend!

  • You guys are Awesome. You can't beat the blues on a rainy night! 5/5 -Larry

  • Thanks a lot, Larry, I'm glad I found Marc and that he was willing to do that with me.

Yeah nothing better on a rainy day, it's rainy here, too :-(

  • Glad you liked the ditty, Larry!

Props for posting the tutorial for the ladies being channel-harrassed BTW...

  • This is so Wicked! Holy Rockin Collaboration! Amazing Harp, Vocals, and Guitar.... 100 Stars

I am admiring the Incredible sound too, so clear and clean! Love it, Love it, Love it!

How did this slip by me.. ~

  • Oh, Annie, always love your comments, thanks for this one, too: A great one. Yeah I love collabs a lot and Marc is just a great guy and a fantastic blueser. (Gotta check his latest U2 vid)

Ciao, your fan and friend Antonio

A propos fan: I read your answer on Kris' question: I'll be watching!!!

  • I'm still waiting for a proper demonstration of how to sing this one properly from the intrepid Mr. GreenLeaf.

Bentonio, you're not wrong in this one.

The only color that should be mentioned here is blue.

    Example:

"Gee Bentonio07, that's not bad, but it would be a lot more soulful or blue-sounding if you'd sing after the beat. Check out <example cited> to see what I mean."

  • Yeah, and I would actually welcome that 'cause I do think I still got a lot to learn about singing and playing the blues... too bad

  • came by for another listen dude. i really love this cyberjam . in my opinion your vocals are amazing on this. i also applaude your stand on racism with the misguided mr greenleaf. your intelligence is showing..;o)

  • Thanks a lot strat, I really really appreciate what you're writing!

  • You want my take. YouTube is packed with garbage. Yours is not garbage. "Garbage people" respond to criticism with anger and disdain.

People who produce something valuable to society on the whole, take criticism and learn to ignore it, or learn from it.

So far you have done neither. The choice is yours.

  • I think we're talking about different things here:

Linking artistic qualities or flaws to someone's complexion is racism, no matter how you put it or what YOUR complexion is. Thus I'm reluctant to consider any comment that has that tendency.

  • Good stuff. But if you want some soul, you gotta learn to sing after the beat. Your not the only guy with the "white guy syndrome". Go back a listen to the real stuff again.

  • Gee, that black white stuff is really "annoying", sorry.

If I fucked it up (and maybe I did), I did cause I'm not good enough and that's that...

Without that remark of yours I would have considered this comment helpful, much more than just a "Good stuff", actually

  • Hmmm..You know, Bentonio's actually quite an open-minded guy who accepts constructive criticism.

I'm curious about this singing after the beat but my white mind is just too tiny to grasp the concept by the words alone.

Perhaps you could post a demo to educate our sorry pale asses.

Or perhaps you could link to any one of your vids that has examples of this.

Or perhaps you could direct us to one of your favourites that utilizes this principle.

  • Very cool video! Awesome job!!!

    Five stars!

  • Thanks a lot, we really enjoyed doing this, so I'M glad people like it!

  • Thanks from both of us ;-)

  • Great collaboration, caro. ;o) Melle

  • wow! great great great!

oh god!!!!! why did i came here before uploading that terrifying song?????????

please, friend, rsrs, stay milles away from my channel this days, or come with a cotton in your ears! I m serious!

    ;o)

By the way, 5 stars. Of course.

  • Your warnings come too late LOL: Thnaks for the nice comment, Polá, I like your channel!

  • wonderful song and sound here, bentonio! it makes me laugth again of my songs and be ashamed of my blues screaming!..rsrs

    more stars for you again!

  • Great job

  • Thanks!

  • dam thats wicked

great job to u both 5* and favourited

    peace

  • Cool, thanks a lot!

  • Fantastic to see how it's turned out - and it's absolutely excellent. Love the harp playing and the guitar - the whole package is superb. Congrats to both of you!

  • Thanks a lot David, always appreciate your comments!!!

As a matter of fact I didn't expect it to work out so well, though I knew Marc's a great harp player.

  • Wow!!!!! This is so cool!!! Perfect combination! Amazing job!

  • Thanks a lot, Matt - the editing was nerve wrecking but the collab itself is great fun!

  • hey that was pretty cool. you guy did an excellent job.

    :)

  • Thanks a lot, gnome ;-)

  • Thanks for the kudos fella!

  • i absolutely love the res. guitar, vocals and harp. overall atmospheric dude, wow! nice CyberJam boys !

  • Thanks a lot, Strat. The Johnson is 2nd hand, not for lefties and real crappy: produces some strange noise from the strings jumping around the bridge which they shouldn't, should they? But I still love playing it.

  • hah i know what ya mean i have a cheap Galveston resonator. i keep the original oxidized 16s on it makes it real raunchy ;o)

  • Hey MG, that's cool!!! Thanks a lot for watching, bro!

  • Great job guys.

  • I feel honored that you watched and commented on this!

    Thanks a lot!

  • AWESOME!

  • Cool, Gil, thanks for watching and welcome back!!!

Saw you subbed, thanks for that, too!!!

  • 5****** Nuff Said

  • Much appreciated, Todd !!!

  • Much appreciated, Todd !!!

  • OUTSTANDING! LOL... guys you've got some chicago blues in your souls! thanks for this - it's great ! Stars all around : ) - Bill

  • Hey Bill, really glad you like it!! Thanks for watching!!!

  • I'm very happy with the finished product.

My apologies to Bentonio07 for uploading my harp vid as DivX, thus forcing him to download Mainconcept's freeware converter.

FYI: Nandub (little brother to VirtualDub) decodes DivX admirably as long as you get the appropriate DivX update for the software. It is still freeware, and leaves absolutely no watermark.

  • No need to appologize ;-)

NEXT TIME, if there'll be a NEXT TIME that is ;-)

  • I wouldn't close the books on the Italian-German-French-Canadian connection just yet, LOL!

I'm sure we'll get behind something after a brief hiatus and rock the joint!

  • Très bien, mon ami!

  • I'm glad our rendition was well received!

  • Yeah, shouldn't be saying it, but kinda like it myself LOL

  • Antonio, youtube doesnt like me..lol..2nd try at a comment...5 starts pal...awesome..JUST AWESOME..put this one in my fav's

  • This one sticked, Ken! I so much appreciate the fact that you always comment so favorably ;-)

    ten stars and super fav

    you are awesome!

  • Wow, Pepi, I'm humbled for sure.

  • You know I'm a fan...great stuff again well done Ben always good to hear a Muddys Waters number.

  • Cool, I'm humbled, thanks a lot!!!

  • Awesome work! Love the collaboration factor!!

  • Yeah, that's a lot of fun, thanks a lot for watching, mad!

  • very interesting idea collaborating on youtube

  • Yeah, it's actually really great: the technical part is a bit nerve wrecking, however, but you get rewarded with cool collaborations!

  • Pure class

  • Glad you like it, acoustic!

  • Very good, keep it up!

  • Cool, we'll try to :-)

    Cheers, Belfast

  • love it!!!

  • Hi Jon, what a great comment, I really appreciate it! Thanks a lot. If only I wasn't that slow: this project started in March ...
